  • no, but sometimes notes have ornaments that slide a bit sharp or flat for effect.

    unless you are talking about jewish music from middle eastern countries, which is separate from this..

  • All I could find on this guy is he was a violin teacher at the Leningrad Conservatory many of whose students have become famous violinists.

  • he was a violin teacher at the Kiev Conservatory, I was one of his students there before he moved to USA at the end of 1989.

  • And he was a concertmister of the Kiev Opera House for 40 years. At the suggestion of Isaak Stern (his close friend btw) Szeryng came to here him playing there while with concerts in Kiev in the 60s.

    I must have heard him live and didn't even know about it. I grew up in Kiev in the 80s, and my Mom took me to many venues as a child.
