Just a quick note to let you know this was great and say thank you. Really enjoyed it. Your site's dynamite too. Really appreciate the transcriptions.
Thanks, Jonathan, for posting this....my fav artist is Maxwell and my fav bassist is my son. I would LOVE for him to play this for me. I'm sure he could, but I sent him your video...I wish I could play the bass, but I am more the singer than the instrumental player. Thanks for posting this...I love it!
@opinionated99 Look closely and you'll see that don't use my 5th string at all. This was probably originally played on a 4 anyway, I'm just using the bass I'm most comfortable with. A big piece of advice: skip the tap, learn to read real notation.
Fantastic lesson, man! I'm sure you already know but 99% of youtube "lessons" on absolutely everything are just awful. It's great to see someone that really strives for quality in their instruction. Doesn't hurt that you're a great player either :).
@opinionated99 No. Do yourself a favor and learn it by ear. Groove and feel is something you won't get from tabs. In fact, it's better if you forget about them all together and learn standard notation. You'll be a much better musician for it.
