My guess, a family member died, probably the mother, and the father says that soon, he feels he will pass too, and he's entrusting his son with protecting the innocent. Then, the boy/man is singing about how the memories of his family have kept him going, and how he's keeping those memories alive. Like, at one point it says "The anthem won't explain it" and I think that he means, regardless of the song, there's no way he could say how much they've helped him. That's just my analysis.

Don't get me wrong, Sasuke's story is sad, but his story just doesn't affect me the same way Naruto's does. At least Sasuke was loved at one time. Naruto never had anyone that loved him like that. (and the same goes for Gaara) It's like that old saying: "Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved (or, in Naruto's case 'been loved') at all
