Got to see this live Tim Owen's Tap House in Akron for a little warm up show for One Silent Night on Saturday. A simply fantastic performance by Neil.

@flipsonkr hahaha you don't know the original do you, its nothing like beethoven wrote it. I enjoy this, don't get me wrong, but its just the small intro of the symphony.
ehh no offence patrobls but you sound liek you have no idea what you are talking about VAN HALEN is F**king unbeliveable and "Zaza not be as technical as vai"? "WHAT! their all unique accomplished musicians and they can play each others music with ease thier all in the same "leage" got back and listen to eddies playing theres a reason why he revolutionised guitar playing
Honestly. I don't think Van Halen is as great at guitar as he gets credit for. He's good, but not great. I've just recently become a fan of Neil, and he's probably one of 2 instrumental artists I could listen to a full album of. The other Being Jeff Loomis who I regard as possibly the greatest guitar player I've ever heard.
@gergaginflopple Eddie Van Halen is a legend, like Hendrix. He basically revolutionized the electric guitar, as Hendrix did. Is he as good as Steve Vai ? No. No one is.
@fastisno1 That's ok, Fastisno1 . . . Neil's already opened the G3 tour in the past, and he's already opened for Joe Satriani as well. If the opportunity comes along for him to tour with Joe again, or to do the G3 tour again, I'm sure he will. :)
@fastisno1 Don't get me wrong. I love VH work. He was a phenomenal and everything. But I don't think he'd fit in G3 recipe. He's a part of great rock band. I just don't see him as a instrumental music kinda guy :) G3 with JS, Vai and Eric Johnson once again would be nice :)
@fastisno1 zaza has played with all the G3 guys lol, just not while they are together. I would love to see them all on stage n be the G4 and add eddie for 5!! EPICCCC
Don't get me wrong, I love Van Halen and am massively inspired/influenced by his stuff (as is pretty much every other guitarist), but I don't think it's wrong to say that Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, AND Neil Zaza are TECHNICALLY better than Eddie...
Van Halen isn't in the same league as satriani, petricci, eric johnson, steve vai, or pretty much any g3 musician. And Zaza might not be as technical as vai petrucci or satriani but he is as technical or more than eric johnson, and the reason Johnson was part of the g3 was because of his great musical ideas, phrasic and melodic control, which Zaza has as well, so he would make a great creative addition to the g3
I got to meet Neil Zaza up at Jam Camp 2008 in Park City, UT june 15-21. I was known as "STIXX" to him :P (i play the drums and have been for 12 years now)

lol it's not like they didn't have guitars back then. I'm sure some guy adapted Beethoven's song into guitar at the time, but Beethoven would be surprised at Zaza's performance. "Why does that guitar sound like thunder?"
zaza deffinitly has better presentation, Jerry plays it the same EVERY time, zaza spices it up and changes it almost everysingle time he plays live, and he also usually plays muc faster then Jerry. but jerry is still fucking amazing
I LOVE THIS GUY! Look at the smile on his face as he shares his talent with the audience! I dont care if you can play 3 million notes a second, this sort of heart and passion is what makes a fantastic guitar player GREAT! This made me smile as much as he does!
Zaza is better than Malmsteen... like, just in general. You know, with the real melodies and such, instead of Yngwie's play as fast as you can and whatever you do don't slow down approach
Not really. All I ever hear Malmsteen doing is widdling about in harmonic minor. Zaza comes up with interesting, melodic music with real feeling, which even carries through when he's shredding. Malmsteen *just* shreds. Only my opinions though... I guess a lot of my hatred for Malmsteen is born from his wanting to be Blackmore.
Yngwie doesn't *want* to be Blackmore! He was/is greatly and mainly influenced by him! But Yngwie's 'saving grace' is that he incorporated his own style of breaking arpeggio sweeps which he executes flawlessly! Neil keeps getting better and better though.
why do you check out Neils stuff when u keep bashing him ,, if i send you a neil cd will you listen to it ,, i like the same you do Eric J i have seen him a bunch of times in boulder at the coast , denver , chicago ,i have seen yngwie a few times but he does not get a good following in G,R do u like rusty cooley , Tony M , vinnie m ?? what dont you like about neil i will listen your old friend dannycorser lets listen to each other Sorry danny !!
That's nonsense! Yngwie is NOT Blackmore, and has adopted his own signature style. His solos are phenomenal in that they build up tension, then let go. That's HUGE in rock! I'm coming to appreciate Neil more and more though. I will listen to him more.
why are you in like every neil zaza video comment area... >_> you just keep bashing. and if you are talking about neil Zaza CD's, id just suggest his rewind CD or "when gravity fails", thats more "shredding" if you prefer.. =.=
Why NOT? It's a free country (to an extent, actually, if you want to get technical about it), more or less. Neil is OK. He himself told me that on a scale of 1 to 10, he is a 5.
i just thought this was the judge judy theme song....

Neil Zaza have something not to many guitar players have, he is very good with melody, and this is very important if you make instrumental music.
I heard a lot of guitar players with a lot of technique, but with not so good melody's, and than you get bored very fast with that cd.
But Zaza is not only good with melody, also his tapping and sweeppicking is very good.
But a G3 with Zaza will not come, first will be Eddie Van Halen, satriani want him for a long time for his G3 ( me too).

Zaza is better than Malmsteen... like, just in general. You know, with the real melodies and such, instead of Yngwie's play as fast as you can and whatever you do don't slow down approach

You wish! Malmsteen has a LOT more feeling, talent, and lyrical melody in his playing! Malmsteen is about a 10 plus, whereas Neil is about an 8.

I've heard him on MP3. I will pick up a CD or 2 of his for better fidelity. Which do you suggest?
sophiegromit 4 years ago

Most of the song sounds very good but the tone of the fast scales & the arpeggios sound like garbage.
