  • I'm shocked!!Your're wonderfull!!!!!

  • @87redsilver

And I want to say that I'm not underestimating the skills and technique it takes to sing opera, but I'm still pretty sure McFerrin could handle true opera. He has had a classical education, if I'm not mistaken.

  • @kareljuwet he has...also, both his parents were opera singers, so it's a safe bet he's dabbled in that too, during formation

  • muito bom, os dois são feras, , que show ,só mesmo fora do Brasil que existe isto se fosse aqui, estavamos escunta, a dança da garrafinha, créu e outras merdas que temos

  • @kdeua17 Because habanera is the type of rhythm that Bobby was singing , and the Carmen opera as you might know is where the melody she was singig is from originally .

  • heard this over and over and over. so wonderfully done.

  • Wow!!!

  • @clipco1

There is no way you could call Bobby McFerrin a bad vocalist. He has an incredible voice control, tone and range. If he wanted, he would sing the classical version better than most, but isn't the own creation and improvisation the basis of all music?

  • @kareljuwet he is a good jazz improviser and he's great at what he does , but saying he can sing opera is not knowing what it takes to do that . And to tell the truth , when he sings even a jazz tune STRAIGHT , is voice is OK , but nothing out of this world . He's great at what he does , as I said . This was a good combination of different musical genres . But while she could sing without a mike and be heard , he could not .

  • @87redsilver Bobby can sing opera, it would be fine if you got a little bit more info about him.

  • @theTinule1 it doesnt sound like he can, so of what use is the info!?...

  • @theTinule1 Do you guys know what it takes to sing opera ? A singer who's able to project hisvoice over a symphony orchestra so that he can be heard WITHOUT A MICROPHONE from the bottom seats of a whole theatre . It seems like MCFerrin 's father was amn opera singer , a baritone . If you have any clips of Bobby singing real opra , please let me see them , and I'll tell you I was wrong , if he is a real opera singer

  • @87redsilver Actually Bobby CAN sing Opera, and I think I even saw some performances on youtube. As you may know, he spent 3 years more or less isolated just working on is own vocals, and as many people know, there's no cheque his voice can't catch...

  • @Sanitoeter666 Do you guys know what it takes to sing opera ? • @87redsilver I myself sing bass in the Opera of Graz, i even sang the part of leporello one time but okay.. whatever.

  • @kareljuwet omprovisation is not the basis of ALL music

  • @87redsilver

I could be wrong, but I can't think of 1 piece of music that doesn't have it's origins in the fantasy of the composer.

In my opinion, the only difference between improvisation and making up themes for a composition is that the composer writes down his themes.

Of course composing is more than coming up with themes, and improvisation is not as simple as that either, but the music always comes from the composers' and performers' imagination.

    as does this performance.

    The latter is preferable.

  • @NGstalagmite what if you're uncle was Bobby Mcferrin?

  • @NGstalagmite Your uncle touched me too, but the statute of limitations ran out.

  • <3 @ 1:35

  • Shamansysam u are wrong she was disrecpectful to him the entire duet!. More then once she shows him the hand. And she sings with her eyes closed on a duet. do u know how offensive that means! shes the icy cold one :(

  • @Saukzz learn some music then talk

  • He's wonderful. And she's wonderful.

But, you know, why classical singers can do ONLY classical compisitions, and a great musicians can do everything with the use of 2 or 3 notes?

    i love bobby, he's GREAT!!! <3

  • @pashmification "Everything" "with the use of 2 or 3 notes" ? So classical singers are not great musicians and jazz singers are ? What does that mean ? There are classical singers who can not do other genres , and others that can , the same is for jazz or pop singers . Being able to play or sing the melody of a classical aria because , as jazz musicians , we have a good ear to catch notes and rhythms and improvise , still does not mean that we are actually doing a good job with it .

  • @87redsilver i don't know why i wrote this, maybe a moment of contempt about classic music, i don't know. i woul not to injure classical singers or musicians, they're great as the others but i was speaking on my experience and obviusly i was referring to all musicians who don't want to explore the magic of music. sorry for that, forgive me, it was only a moment of weakness. bye

  • she is pretty and the noe job didnt ruin her voice one bit

  • ow fuck....you are so fucking amazing

    cheers.

  • soso

  • Je reste .... sous le charme ! 5 * bravo !!!

  • What do you call bobby's music style

  • Good.

  • lol ok ill go with that

  • Outstanding acapella? Perhaps a different superlative would be more appropriate, but I like his music style.

  • @90mv

    transphys-jazz?

read "Carmen" by P. Mérimée... this song will become something repititionable pleasuresomethingwhatadorableshit...

  • Acapella maybe?

  • bravissimi

  • Esta habanera se llama EL ARREGLITO y fue compuesta por el español SEBASTIAN YRADIER . BIZET le puso una letra en francés y dijo que la había metido en la ópera CARMEN creyendo que era un tema popular, sin autor.

  • boah... incredible!

  • i love how he plays the mic

  • Two great entertainers who prove that the human voice is the greatest musical instrument. I guess

you can call this version of the Habanera "classical" jazz. Bizet would have loved it!!

  • who have technique like this two crazy? noone!!! :) that's i love them so much... :*

  • I love Bobby's high "G" at 1:25. It's so light and precise. He sings this as if it's the most natural thing for a male (or any one) voice to sing. And I'm from University, so...

  • @plainzappings: "And I'm from University, so"

    yeah, so?

  • Hi, I'm a classical guitarist; I, too, study music; and I also attend a university.

So believe me: working toward a university degree does not mean you belong to a higher strata of lifeforms, and, as Bobby would say, we all know what music is, for it's programmed into us.

Lastly, this is Jazz. Did you expect the most beutiful opera singing you've ever heard? If that's what you want, I assure you Bobby McFerrin can certainly delvier; however, that was neither the time nor place to show it.

  • @Begibbuy, what do you mean?If you love music, it was indeed the time and place. I'll bet the audience was happy.

  • VERY GOOD!!!

    5*****

  • love it :D

  • woww, they're amazing!

  • ...it's not that kind of thing though, is it? that's like looking at a painting and saying it's not exactly the forth bridge...

  • She's Azerbaijani.

  • bobby is crazy and she's wonderful

  • God I love this song

  • JAZZiza Mustafadeh ;)

  • wow! wow! wow!

  • AzeriMagicStrings thank you for this interesting video, I am delighted that the theme of Carmen let be so popular worldwide!

As for Aziza and Bobby, they both have great talent. Congratulations!

    Odette

  • what a voice

  • im crazy about her so much

  • what a soulful beatboxer

  • Great vocal performance of the composition!! :)

Maan Bobby..she wanted a hug after it was done..did'nt get it?!Sometimes humbleness can be very icy huh..?! : /

  • @Shamanysam :)

I suspect McFerrin was pissed off because on the final part she stole the spotlight from him.. I love the man and his art, but I suspect humbleness is not one of his qualities ;)

  • @davidproietto I guess he was huh?! Well being pissed of after inviting such a bomb to perform with him on stage its stupid..what was he thinking..she's gonna sing Kumbaya while he shows off with his skills?! ^ ^

  • @davidproietto She stole the spotlight? Really? If anything he gave it to her. Have you ever seen McFerrin live? I have, multiple times, and I can say from firsthand accounts he is one of the MOST humble yet talented people/musicians I've met. The reason he didn't hug her was because they were about to sing again. Instead of ending it, he had her stay on stage to do an encore. How selfish and vain to keep her on stage instead of move on "as scheduled".

  • @Shamanysam they hug after the improv....

  • @Shamanysam Maybe because she is traditional still and will not just hug a man in public. I do not know if she is actually Muslim or practicing for that matter and it may have been why. However the Album Shaman's may mean she is transcendental of any religion.

  • amazing...love it !

  • fantastisch

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!

  • Seen them live together, one of my best live music experiences!

  • you saw them live? wow!

  • this is a german tv channel ^^

  • First time in my life I see an opera-style female vocal that can improvise and do it sooooooo gooooooood!!!! WOW!! She is gorgeous!!!!!

  • it's not really opera vocal technique otherwise she couldn't take the mic so near to her mouth

  • shivers

  • rozkošná Carmen...

  • BEST duet ever!!!!!

  • DaveCayo, you're thinking of Inva Mulla Tchako, who did the vocals for Il Doce Suono in 5th Element. I didn't fully appreciate this performance until I had watched her Take 5 performance (v=OHasx7psUCw). Crazy awesome!

  • Singing like honey in melted butter. Ahhhhh...now I feel better :)

  • She is from Azerbaijan. We have the most beautiful ladies in a World :). Bobby as always amazing. :)

  • This is the woman who sang the Vocals for the Blue Alien woman in Fifth Element.

  • there is NO WORD for this PERFORMANCE!

  • No pun intended.
