I come back to watch this once in awhile, reminds me of when I was a kid.. except there were no turtles to shoot LOL! but its almost sad the way things change.
Nice video! It's always disappointing to see places you loved so much being run down. Too bad you didn't stay on the farm, sounds like you really regret leaving. I grew up in a big city and know I'd never move back. That farmland looks a lot like where I live. Great video, it'd making me think about the good old days!
Thanks artistfarmer2008! It's very dissapointing how run down the old family farm is. I can still remember exactly how it was back when I was growing up and how it is today really makes me sad. They just let the out buildings fall down and leave them that way. The place is a mess! Like I said in the video the house hasn't been painted since we did it back in the 1970's. It's a real shame!!!
I grew up in a small town not far from the farm. That's where my grandparents lived and where my dad grew up. They sold it after my grandparents passed away. I wish I would have bought it!!!! I lived in the city for 11 years. That's all I could take of it so I moved to a small town. I love it here and would never live in the city again. Maybe someday I will live in the country..it is in my blood!! Thanks again and remember the good old days!
Oh, forgot to mention.. all those frogs and turles would have ended up as pets if Janet (crazyfarm) would have been there. She was always putting frog eggs in jars and frogs in bird cages. Didn't have turtles.. good thing, they would have probably ended up in my bathtub.
Sure did. Hell, if there were a grasshopper on the ground I would shoot it with my .22. It's really a small farm. We farmed 120 acres. Which doesn't sound like much, but with the old equipment we used it sure seemed like a lot. Yes, it is cool to go back to where you were in your youth. Things sure have changed. Thanks!!!!
I just got to this video now, but to me its like you just put it up tonight! I really enjoyed that tour of the old farm! I wish I could sit on one of those bridges with ya and drink a dozen! I still live on the same ground I ran and played all my life...even now I run and play on it! LOL There are certain spots here too that bring back the memories. I will leave here only when I die. 5* for sure. do you eat the turtles?
Thanks Peter!! You can drink some beer with me on those bridges if you come down here!! I will supply all the beer!! lol Some places are hard to leave! I still drive around there from time to time and sometime bring my guns and shoot where I did all those years ago. No I've never eaten a turtle. I shot them for fun. I know I shouldn't have, but I did.
HHJ and i used to ride around on back roads like these too... We use to kick back with a coupld of homemaid cigs and road the back roads can't hardly do this anymore... I miss it, it was like a ride down memory lane... I can't believe you farm all that land... I hate to see all the trash a lot of our old smoke holes have been trash as well... KluTz
Every now and then I will go out to my old stomping ground and cruise around like we did years ago. I get my guns out and stop at some of the bridges and do some plinking. We don't farm that land anymore, not since my grandmother passed away. That's been almost 22 years ago. We farmed 120 acers. Doesn't sound like much, but it was with the old equipment we used. I drove a D John Deere tractor. Yes, it really sucks how people throw trash everywhere!!
That's lot of memory ... like as you said you hated the time but you're missing it. To cruise slowly around there with the green beast is awesome. Sadly people just throw in their garbage to the creek - but the same happens here, too.
I really miss going out there! My dad grew up in that old farm house. I spent alot of time on that farm, in my youth. I really enjoy driving around in the green beast! I wish people wouldn't throw out their trash. I go to different country bridges to do some shooting and almost every bridge there is trash. It does give me something to shoot at.
Memory Lane, what a nice trip back that was, the fields me and my friends played on as children have houses on them now, I have swam in little steams like that but like you say No More lol.:)
It's always interesting going back to places where you spent alot of time when you were kids and seeing how things have changed. To me it was sad seeing how the farm is.
i live in the city now.... but i was raised running back roads just like that!!! i always kept my poles in my trunk!!!! dude i would love to cruize the back roads and drink brews with ya!! aww man that takes me back!! :D
I feel so much you man, the new owner made it shit.

Things keep changing, yet a few stay remarkably the same.
I can't wait to get to the lake again. It's four months and counting down...

WOW was great to be on that tour George. Which State ya from bro - i see farmland and was it swamparea ?
juhler 4 years ago
I'm in Kansas. Not swampland. No swamps here. The water was just a creek running through the area.
mieses2pieces 4 years ago
Thanks for the tour, George, but I'm sorry about your Grandmother's house. The new owners shouldn't have let that happen.
