Since the movie is a remake of Kikujiro No Natsu, Ilayaraja actually missed an Oscar opportunity for this exceptional score (BGM & Songs). Its a known fact that Oscar doesn't entertain remakes!

However Oscar is not a yardstick for Ilayaraja's skill set :)

@jayanc : We need to get out of this mindset about oscar. Oscars are given sometimes or many times to people who really dont deserve it. Specially the foriegn films category. They dont know or they cant measure who ilayaraja is. If at all there is an oscar given to ilayaraja, its a proud moment for oscars rather than ilayaraja.

This man has left his music that will live for centuries and become a textbook for composition and orchestra in the decades to come.
