  • I'm just here to comment on the title...

  • Yeah "Eventually" as in when they stop soaking out peoples money and really actually give out the real good technology but they are afraid anything might keep us from going to work or getting the poor little slaves hurt.

  • This vid is exactly what i have seached for, longer wouldnt hurt but works for me.

  • i like popcorn?

  • it'd be great if the voiceover didn't speak to the audience as if they were retards.

  • @mintyoreo

I think the computer mathematical vortices depiction are wrong... but what do I know; I thought this was just for retards d:)

  • THOSE DRAGONFLIES COULD BE CURING CANCER!

  • Wow! Tiny winged vehicles that go around curing cancer! The future will be awesome!!!

    Also <3 SANDRINE!!!!!

  • NEW SPEAKER PLEASE!!!!

  • SIH MU LAY SHUN

  • @TheNoel : Wait...can you say that a little slower?

  • are dragonflies going to cure cancer??

  • @amicusnemini This has nothing to do with cancer research you dumbass.

  • Can you fuck it?

  • flying cars, here we come

  • I see no practical use of learning how dragonflies fly other than for the sheer fact of gaining understanding. For anyone to try and replicate nature in such a manner would be severely inefficient.

  • @250lespaul Are you for real? Or a robot?

  • @ThoroldTech I am what is known as a "nerdfighter".

  • MIC loves tiny winged assassination/spy drones!

  • I'm pretty sure there are dragonfly toys that fly around, although maybe not quite as complicated as that they use the same basic principles

  • how did they get the markers on the wings?

  • @goutman Perhaps they caught a dragonf... no, no... they couldn't possibly have done that. There's no chance in hell anyone could catch a dragonfly and attach markers on its wings. Nope, it's a mystery. How on earth could those markers have gotten there? God must have done it!

  • @George19881988 wow really?:) wow thankyou for this no no i really mean it. Its amazing scientists can attach markers to an insect so small and fragile without damaging it i just wanted to know how it would be done.

  • @goutman It's called "cold air", dumb ass.

  • @ShallowThoughts sshhhhhhhhh

  • This is so old, I saw this on discovery channel last year.

  • Wait a minute someone stuck TINY MARKERS on the Dragonfly that was TRACKED by a computer? I think that in itself is more amazing that creating a mathematical model of a Dragonfly's wings.

Who stuck these markers? Who created such Markers? How small can they get? And how powerful/accurate are they?

  • @toomuchskin They're probably just dots, a camera looks at the dots and a computer goes, ooo it's a dot i will remember where it is :) Nothing too special I think. Probably some triangulation going on at most.

  • Yea! LEXX mobiles coming soon !

  • that's some fine science :)

  • The voice is back,

  • @Ipoonthecasbah EEEEK!

  • @Ipoonthecasbah does anyone know who she is

  • sexy voice over LOL

  • who stuck the trackers on?

  • Do you think that polka-dot dragon fly is still alive today?

  • @187Premises Dragonflies live for like a day lol.

  • Please get a new narrator! This woman is terrible!

  • We are learning from a dragonfly, lol

  • Sandrine's voice :)))))))

  • Is there a public paper available?

  • tiny winged vehicles mounted with tiny cameras- all this science of biological flight stuff is for military/ espionage/ covert operations- thats where the tax payers dollars go

  • @deseminvoller

mostly, yes. But also for escue missions like to find people in a crashed building or so - thats an important civil role of those micro-drones in the future.

  • my kittens' tiny barn stormer's controls are much too spasmodic and unstable, i m waiting patiently for these new mini-Messerschmitts.........

  • Now why would anyone risk millions for a robodragonfly to spy at some insignificant character with a utube account? This channel seriously need to upload a new vid about the science of holywood writers screwing peoples brain cells or something.

  • WHO ordered the Tiny Winged Vehicles or TWV's?

Is there a backlog of people needing TWV's?

Will TWV's give me a better life?

    Who pays for this shit?

  • could this lead to winged vehicles in the future?

  • tiny winged vehicles would be small UAV's and things like that, there wouldn't be people inside of them or they wouldn't be tiny

  • yes tiny winged vehicles = tiny spy planes

  • Not too special - these very same simulations have been done for 10 years now on 2-wing insects, birds, and fish. My lab has been doing these simulations for 4-fin robot fish for 2 years now.

  • @palmisano Oh I'm soooo great. I've doing these animations for 10 years on 2 winged insects, birds, etc. And yet, in all that time, you just couldn't manage even 1 four-winged creature. Pathetic. Yeah, keep up the great work on your lame 2 winged critters there. That's really going to help the tiny-winged vehicle industry. Loser.

  • @cerebulon Not sure if you're being sarcastic or making a light-hearted joke, lol . . . I was just pointing out that this is hardly new.

  • @palmisano Just being silly. I keep forgetting sarcasm doesn't translate through text.

  • The vehicles can have like cameras, microphones, or bombs or something.

  • i took this video seriously until the last sentence.

  • Sim-u-lation.

  • vehicles are not just for transporting people. Use your imaginations.

  • can we get someone who can pronounce simulation instead of "simbilation"

  • A perverts dream machine is coming!

  • wo, that is high-tech.

  • @mooxim Dragonflies were high-tech millions of years ago, and have never been improved upon. ;-)

  • New flying technology!

  • Tiny winged vehicles? Big Brother Again?

  • I can't wait to fly around in tiny winged vehicles.

  • heres a better idea learn to fly then experiment with ways to replace that

  • 4 wing vehicle coming?

  • i hate her fucking voice ugh

  • @MrZaintZ - Ha ha. I actually love it. Sounds quite sexy!

  • Tiny winged vehicles will be used in disaster zones!

  • god i HATE the way this damn chick talks >_< every freaking video she sounds the same like a retarded robot

  • @joejoe8151 her mouth is filled with tiny, winged vehicles

  • @B4IRUTUARU16 you sir, win my stamp for "best comment of my day"

  • @joejoe8151 lol thanks buddy

  • @joejoe8151 just foreign

  • tiny winged vehicles are awesome!

  • HOW IS THIS GONNA HELP CURE CANCER?

  • @Odslought your daddy had cancer before he fucked your mother....hmmm lets experiment further into this shal we?

  • @outlawkelb Don't feed the trolls please.

  • tiny winged, vehicles?

  • @LeafVillItachi Flying microsensor (camera) platforms for search and rescue and intelligence gathering.

  • @LeafVillItachi ROFL yeah, I thought that too

  • @LeafVillItachi Meaning for robotic drones. Scientists are turning to nature for inspiration for efficient designs. Helicopter blades my be necessary for larger aircraft, but there's no reason the smaller need to be restricted.

  • @LeafVillItachi lol spit my drink when I heard the video end like that XD

    Most broad explaination EVER.

  • @LeafVillItachi Military micro-UAVs for urban reconaissance.

  • @LeafVillItachi She means tiny insect like spy drones that will allow the illuminati to watch you every second of every day!!!!!11!11!!

Or maybe just fun little radio controlled toys....

    I'm not sure :-p

  • @LeafVillItachi exactly what I was thinking...

  • @LeafVillItachi : Yes. For transporting disabled flying insects. It's a humanitarian venture.

  • @DouglasJBender GENIUS lol

  • well it is good they are finally doing research that might actually help with something. I could see sometime down along the road this kind of technology being used to develop better aircrafts, the more we learn from animals, the more we will learn about technology.

  • so not the 1st sim of this.

  • holy fuck what an annoying voice

  • We should focus on all aspects of science... Everyone saying stuff about the cure for cancer. It's possible that what they found here may lead to a cure. A medical doctor is different than an insect researcher.

  • TINY WINGED VEHICLES?

WTF do we need those for?

    Oh yeah, WAR !!!

    and privacy invasion.

what the fuck is wrong with us?

  • @Justin9Noble whats wrong with you?

  • @Justin9Noble a rather pesimistic view of the world you have there. Here is just a few things they could be used for:

    Surveying our planet and others.

Fly into ruined buildings after a earthquake and search out the injured and traped.

Explore small spaces in ancient ruins unexplorable by man.

Fly in swarms over natural/manmade disaster areas to gain valuable realtime data for rescue services.

Getting upclose to study wildlife without alerting them.

So maybe open your mind a little!

  • @Justin9Noble If we are better at war, using advanced war machines, then we are better protected against the enemies that want to destroy your values and culture. I've once heard that pacifism is a philosophical system that can only exist because people fought, killed, bled and died for the right and freedom to practice that philosophical system. Don't be naive, like most are, and understand why we have wars. This doesn't mean you have to like it though.

  • @TheMathKing Pacifism is the principle of non-aggression and unneeded violence. Since usually it's the invading forces which attempt to destroy the independence or sovereignty of a state or nation. The opposing forces are usually the ones who fight for their state or their nations independence or sovereignty. However fighting for sovereignty and independence is not the same as fighting for freedoms which is what you seem to believe.

  • @Slug99 By that definition of pacifism, what I say is certainly wrong. I am going with a more naive definition that people tend to take which is "Pacifism = no violence at all". Also, I think that if you assume, axiomatically, in a core set of values and want to continue practicing it, you have to be powerful enough to stop others, with other values, from trampling over you. Also, the desperate and unfortunate sometimes wage war to get by, and we need defense (and charity), there too.

  • @TheMathKing I do not agree that military might is needed to maintain a stable state, at least not these days. Most states have stopped waring in the same way they did before, meaning waring to spread political influence. There are still cases of it happening, one big example being the US who still engages in invasions of regions and then installs a new state, Iraq and Afghanistan being the most recent ones. Most enemies of states are guerrilla soldiers, against which normal warfare is useless.

  • @TheMathKing You used way too many words to explain your opinion and call me names. Dumb.

  • Comment removed

  • @krstcmjns Dragonflies can live from 6 months to 5 years

Google this "687292-life-span-of-a-dragonfly" and take the first result.

  • @krstcmjns 2 days.

  • @krstcmjns about 1 day

  • Cancer has been cured ! not

  • hows that cancer treatment comming...

  • 90% of the comments on these videos are people bitching non-stop about the person's voice.

  • @youtooberman9001 yup.. Cuz a pron erotic voice would fit sooooo much better for small science videos -.-

  • @youtooberman9001 newscientistvideo should do a video correlating the quality of comments with subscriber count.

  • this bitch has awful voice

  • Get a person who can speak English. Sim-oo-lation? really?

  • tiny winged vehicles

    like the drone

    this is the future

  • alta is dis fett!

  • advertisement was "elders pest control".. and whats with this chicks accent?

  • @asaw1994 Everyone doesn't like her.. Thats what im assuming... It sounds like she is asking a question and answering one at the same time.

  • @Nanovirus5995 you hit the nail on the head hahah

  • tiny winged vehicles for tiny little men

  • @3kToT

    or for disabled dragonflies.

  • @3kToT What is this a tiny winged vehicle for ANTS?!?!

  • @3kToT Little airplanes, with tiny bombs.

    Little squadrons, dropping

    thimbles of Napalm!

    No Oingo Boingo fans here?

  • SECOND!!!

  • @totian99

    FAIL :D

  • @jookur lol

  • @totian99 and what made u say that?

  • @marcarmstrong88 The complete awesomeness of being third!

  • but does it Cure Cancer?....

  • @TheHtjohn thats actually not funny anymore....

  • @TheHtjohn Contrary to popular belief, science does more than trying to cure cancer ;)

  • @TheHtjohn

That one isn't funny anymore... Try thinking yourself and come up with something new to say.

  • @TheHtjohn how about your lame joke does it cure cancer

  • @TheHtjohn you troll this every time,

  • interesting
