  • Im two inches from the ground now :)

  • wow....

  • for a back kick, is it done with a true front split or the open front split? i mean when you kick backwards, will the kicking foot be pointing down or side (horizontal) ? :)

  • OH...!!!! 0o0. my jaw just dropped. :) now i see the diff. the back foot, one is horizontal, and the other is vertical.

  • great vids, i will try to use them for train flexibility on taekowndo to not be a noob xD

  • Thank you for explanation! you are really a good teacher of flexibility. I hope you can answer my questions: 1) I can do the right true front split, but never trained opened one. Would it be difficult for me to achieve the o.f.s. and how I should train for it?

2)It seems to me that o.f.s. is very much closer to the side split. If I will manage to do the o.f.s.,will it help me to achieve the side one?

  • i've been training front splits on the left leg for about a month, and now i started to make progress. i really hope to get all the way down!!

  • i've been training front splits on my left leg for about a month now.. and it looks like now i started to improve.. i hope to get all the way down

  • i finally finished my frontsplit with the left leg :D:D:D:D THX !

    2 month training

  • @Aftermader

    Congratulations! :)

  • @Elasticsteel Thank you :) now i want to start with the right leg, but its not the same feeling as well ,its a very different feeling.. that makes it harder :s

  • @Aftermader i got the same thing but i did with a stronger will power and finally i finished it off...!! :))

  • @Aftermader Congratulations:) i working on mine

  • if i learn the open front split, then i could make a front split too ?

  • this seems an unattainable goal for me as the pain factor right now is so great. Been working at this for a while -no serious progress. Do you just keep at it or is there a stop point for some people?

    thanks

  • 4get this. I so wanna be able to do the splits but I fin it impossible whilst he can do it no fucking problem. My torso is very flexible but my legs are crap basically. and when I try do a splits it hurts my private area. I'm shit at everything ;[

  • When I try to do a split stretch, my tensor fasciae latae seems to get very tight and cramps sometimes. Should I work stretching that muscle first before attempting split stretching? What ways can I relieve this tension?

  • so could an unfit and non flexible 20 yr old get better and more flexible to do that?

  • i will try :)

    great video

  • it forgives the English evil! I am Brazilian and in my country not yet it has this exelente dvd! congratulations!

  • Elasticsteel i need help doing the splits can u send me a personal video showing me how to do this

  • Personal video, no.

Check ElasticSteel (.) com for more information on splits.

  • @Elasticsteel Do you have to have warm muscles to do stretch or do your muscles just get hurt if they are not warm when stretching

  • Doesn't that hurt your you know what! But great video!

  • is there anything i can take to decrease the pain ?

  • l like how you explain it l did splits easy but now since l use leg weights for squats my splits don't look as good

probably l need to stretch more

  • you are the best man, !

  • Thank you for your comment

  • Thank you for making this video.

  • You got it.

  • Hi Elasticsteel I have a question: to get a front split is it absolutely necessary to have the feet at pointe position while stretching or it really doesn't matter at all?

  • It depends on you target activity and what you want the split for. They can be done either way.

  • Soory, my English isn't that good, so I could not understand erverything you said.

At the moment I'm trying to improve my flexibility for martial arts.

My question is, which front split should I train in order to improve my felxibility for martial arts. Indeed, I've been training the true front split. Because I saw many martial artists training the open front split, I wanted to ask you, which one I should train.

In my opinion, the true one is easier, is that normal?? Thanks in advance.

  • Mysery300,

Open front split is more applicable to martial arts. Most people find it easier as well. Some people find the true front split easier as it is the case with you

  • Thank you for your advice.

    Your videos are great.

  • Nice to know.

  • Thank you for your comments.

  • for how long should i stretch to do splits if i am half way there?

  • There are many factors that decide this.

  • I'm Trying to achieve my Side Splits now and iI started like a month ago,I did my first Front Splits last week and it took me 2 weeks to master it my consistent training:D

    GoodLuck Bro;)

    ElasticSteel you're Awesome

  • Thank you for your comments.

  • Your videos are very unique.

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • how long will it take me to achieve the splits if i stretch like crazy

  • Just like anything else. There is no set time.

  • I tried this while watching you. and it hurts!

  • This video meant to explain the difference between variations of the front split.

You probably were not correctly warmed up and conditioned to try it.

  • So that's what those splits are called.

  • Open Front Split and True Front Split.

  • i agree side splits are more impressive. i don't know if i can say that for everybody. maybe its just my school. it depends. i lead the daily stretches in my gym class i find it that they like the side splits rather than front splits.

  • Kiynyasha, I don't think the size of your family has anything to do with your ability to do a split. :)

  • Good, clear explanation. You know your splits. :)

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • i dont like the side split i like the front one better!!

  • It's alright, you have a choice.

  • I think most people are interested in the side split.

  • That depends.

  • Thank you for uploading this video. Your videos are very unique and very good.

  • Thank you for your comments.

  • Thanks for this. Answered my questions about splits.

  • You got it.

  • Good stuff. You splits and flexibility videos rock.

  • Thank you for the comment.

  • I was looking for just this kind of split demo. Thank you.

  • You got it.

  • Which split is more important? Which split is more functional?

  • Just like anything else, "functional" is a relevant term. It depends what you want to use your split for.

  • Front Split exaplained like that. It's a very good video.

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • So I assume there is different training for those splits?

  • That is correct.

  • Thanks for this front split tutorial. Well explained and demonstrated.

  • You got it.

  • What is cooler a front split or a side split?

  • That's up to the individual, I guess.

  • I guess my gym teacher did not know what he was talking about after all when he said that's its exactly the same thing.

  • Most gym teachers don't know much. Not all, but most.

  • They don't know anything about splits. Circuit training maybe, but not splits.

  • You can't stereotype. It depends on the teachers background.

  • That i true, avioniti.

  • Thank you for that.

  • Keep them comming, please!

  • People who don't know think it's the same thing. It's not. Thanks for the video.

  • So it is different muscles that stretch.

  • There is a muscle variation, but primarily similar muscle groups, but to a different degree.

  • Very Cool info. Thanks.

  • u r great man...luv u

  • do you need to pick this up at a very young age in order to do the ' splits '? or can older people with continual stretching achieve this? Basically, if your older... its too late?

  • If you do everything correctly, you can get splits when you older safely.

  • Hi elasticsteel, can you make a clip and show wich stretche's do i have to do to get split please?

  • Take a look at ElasticSteel website and around this channel. You will find many useful videos. I will make more in the future.

  • Thank you very much, but i would really like to talk with you private!

  • and one question again, when i stretch the (lunge stance) it hurts in my hips..

    Do you know why?

  • It depends what you mean by "hurts" and exactly where. It could be just the feeling you get from stretching the target muscles.

  • eek... that looks like it hurts...

  • very nice, thanks Paul!

  • thanks this really help clear out things 5 stars
