  • Pavement CANNOT FUKKING SING!

    The TRUTH!

  • And again

  • @Arbiter0917

    you're slackin'

  • I nostalgia'd all over my screen

  • I searched greatest metal song ever... what is this

  • This goes way beyond mere hipster irony, simply put this is a masterpiece. how Malkmus manages to take a corny sounding children's educational song and casually imbue it with such complicated melancholy and other emotions...typical pavement

  • This song has some of the best chords ever used

  • Goes to show how cool teachers were back then

  • @MiHiVidz which is why you're checking out the "pavement n stuff" playlist?

  • @mohammad5 I was browsing for Schoolhouse Rock videos when I stumbled across this steaming turd.

  • @MiHiVidz you're entitled to your own opinion mate, i do think Pavement is a tad overrated but regardless they're a great band.

  • @MiHiVidz

um, i think you've mistaken this for the mushroom stamp on your forehead

  • @MiHiVidz Best ironic comment ever! Well done man

  • brilliant. the last minute is so, so good.

  • Have they ever played this song live? Is there any live version of it?

  • Comment removed

  • I actually have had this CD, too, for a long while. I didn't know who Pavement was at the time and now that I've listened to them I can appreciate this more.

  • I strongly recommend watching: money as debt, freedom to fascism, ring of power, 911 mysteries, viberation creates form, behold a pale horse, 2012 enigma, esoteric agenda, anthrax war, endgame, Jim Marrs the 4th reich, the polarity matrix field, Graham Hancock - Quest for the Lost Civilization, Michael Tsarion - Architects of Control Program, Tom & Jerry Illuminati Pyramid, The Celestine Prophecy, 911 b4 911- The Lone Gunmen, Think Free : Bursting Bubbles of Gov, ALEX COLLIER at the Camelot...

  • Try School House Rock ROCKS! I have the CD. I would suggest searching School House Rock ROCKS with artist names. Artists listed are: Deluxx Folk Implosion, Blind Melon, Better than Ezra, Goodness, Moby, Man or Astro-Man, Buffalo Tom, Daniel Johnston, Skee-Lo (my favorite of the remakes), Pavement, Ween, The Lemonheads, Biz Markie and Chavez.

  • I recently returned from the Pavement concert in Philadelphia, and it was beautiful! I have loved this rendition of No More Kings! since 1996, and it is great to have it available now.

  • i am a huge pavement fan but i never knew about this before pretty awesome :)

  • that was.....horrendous.

  • A finely crafted song!

  • I too come from somewhere. This song is an awkward stab at the manifestly bleeding obvious. Bless.

  • is this school house rock?

  • @Dltn97 Yes, the video is from School House Rock. The song is a cover by Pavement of a School House Rock song. I just chopped up the video and put it to the song.

  • they could not have done it more perfect

  • hey thanks for posting this up!!!!!!! i like it and also i need it for my project maybe lol anyway thanks a lot i like this!!!!!!!!! :P

  • This is such a fantastic cover. It honors and transcends the original. I always get a chill when Malkmus sings, "We're there / It may not look like home / But at this point I don't care." He sings this perfectly.

  • pavement is the best band ever.

  • god save the queen

  • this made me laugh haha. "and THATS NOT FAIR!!!!!" ha love it tho

  • "didnt give us any choice" LOL

  • Yes!!! i love pavement's remake of this song! Pity, the CD i own of it is so scratched up it usually skips this track.

  • As far as I'm concerned, Stephen Malkmus can take over the entire country. Could you imagine what the White House would be like with him in it? A quirky, feedback, distortion filled White House!!! Awesome!!!! Malkmus For President!!!!

  • Id take Stephen Colbert as president and SM as VP... slackerlectualjoygasm! And so much more true to the founding fathers...

  • By run "it", I meant the country, if it wasn't clear...

  • @LaSprawl Pavement fans SHOULD be running the country. And why not??? Everyone knows we're just a little brighter and cooler than other rock fans...LOL!!!

  • "...were gonna run our things our own way, gonna run it into the ground"...Yessss!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you I love Pavement's version of this. Gonna run our things our own way gonna runn'em into the ground!

  • No More KINGS!!

  • I'm British. I think this is a good song.

It's a song about rebellion against oppression.

    'Nuff said.

  • @whathuhwhere It sounded like a bit anti-British even though both countries have "special relationship" now - The last war between each of us was during the War of 1812 in which no one win that war even though the Yanks won the battle at New Orleans but both side at New Orleans did not know the treaty was already signed.

The Yanks did helps the Brits against the Germans in both wars and even against the Japs in WW2, even also giving us food and weapons.

So Is this move still anti British?

  • @DavBlc7 Well, in this instance yes, haha, but justifiably so. I guess you just have to call out injustice regardless of where it comes from. Other instances in history are different. Every country has good and bad bits.

  • @whathuhwhere If this is a bit anti-British then why the Yanks and the Brits help each other in Afghanistan?

Most Yanks would say they no longer feel anti-British as it is now history - only very small minority hate us especially among Irish-Americans.

The only area where there is growing anti British feeling at this moment is in parts of Northern Ireland. though they are unlikely to kick us out of Ulster at this moment.

  • loooooooooool

  • lmao, bitter huh Cornwallis. Kicked your ass outta here, with your lil' ridiculous concepts of king and queen. Um, last we looked the USA has gone up up up, while the UK down down down since 1776. As for being french, that's laughable. By your own bitter theory, you and france would be german if it wasn't for us saving your gay asses. I accept your unconditional surrender.

  • You bastard. You've only done "well" because you bled us dry for WW2! Do you realise we finally paid you off(for defending the rest of the world I might add)in 2007. 2007! You extorted BILLIONS from us! And all you did when you got here was shag our women! Bastards.

  • lol, chill out ringo, just YANKing your chain a bit.....but i still mean it. Yes, we banged your women...alot of your women, but I think that little thing called Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, not to be outdone by the fact that we fought Japan basically alone, was more than adequate in payback. Billions??? If it wasn't for us, the UK would be stagnant and stale, sorta like France.

  • "fought Japan basically alone"! How very dare you! Apart from that unpleasant episode of the surrender of Burma,it was WE(well not me exactly) but we in the wider sense that wore them Japs down! The Chindits,Ghurkas,Aussies and Indians. The good old Empire. Which you lot could still be a member of(or the Commonwealth at least) but no,you people want free tea. You lot didn't start till '42 and took another year to get your arses into gear. I'll give you Normandy but raise you North Africa,,,

  • Ridiculous, and stupid. I'll see that raise with Dieppe, Dunkirk, and raise you the BATTLE OF THE BULGE...yes the Battle of the Bulge. Montgomery...BWUUUUAAAHAHAHAHAHA. If it wasn't for Patton, Montgomery would be sucking hessian cock back in the bulge. Serously, revisionist history at it's worst.

Yeah. Japan surrendered b/c of the "empire". bwwuuahahahahaha, yeah, they REALLY feared your surrendering ways.

And just to shut you up,in our 2 wars, we're 2-0 I'm your daddy bitch

    I

  • Don't forget Market Garden! At least we dare to have a go,we love wars! It takes you lot a load of prodding and shoving and bribing and then waiting 3 or 4 years before you actually DO anything. 9/11. How long did it take the U.K. to commit? 5 minutes? 10? We were in like Flint! And I think you'll find 1812 was a draw in our favour. When you lot get to burn down OUR head of states residence then you can play with the big boys. We have TURDS older than your country!

  • cry as loud as you want, bottom line, chapstick, is that you're considered our vassal queens, and will do our bidding. 1812 a draw? Hmmm, I doubt Gen. Pakenham (I believe that was his name) thinks differently, in what ever part of hell he's residing. Andrew Jackson lives forever...why??? You lost...twice. Then your senses got the better of you, thank God.

  • r u mad?

  • correction...you ARE turds older than my country

  • Comment removed

  • And don't forget your enviable dental accumen and world renoned culinary prowess!

  • yet you follow us like a beaten puppy. How sad.

  • I liked the rim joke. That's one thing you people are good for, entertainment. You make us laugh. Funny. Like a clown funny. Clowns!

  • and you make us feel like Gods.

  • ...etc,too many to mention here. "Battle of the Bulge"? If you lot hadn't been sleeping on the job they wouldn't have got as far as they did. And it took Montgomery to sort it out. We MADE you. Your not typing American. Touche.(which is French!)

  • oui, oui monsieur douchebag, and we took your women and beat your soldiers, and had our way with your country. You like apples?

  • Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.

  • Pavement = Awesome. Schoolhouse Rock = Awesome.

Pavement covering Schoolhouse Rock = Sex.

If only all these "Punk Goes Pop" albums today could be as great as this.

  • its ok but not the right tune

  • Amazingly patriotic. USA!

  • Great vid and song...

  • Hi, I wanted to thank you for putting up the pavement no more kings video. This was a favorite song of my first love, back in 1996. I just found out that she died last summer, and it was nice to be able to play your video in her honor, and listening to it brought me back to those long ago days.

    Plus it's a great song.

Thank again for making this available.

  • You are very welcome dblondel. Glad this has brought back memories and offered comfort. What a girl, she loved Pavement.

  • @burtflaxton Right? I'd almost marry a girl based off that alone x)

  • Are there any more of these covers online? I thought there used to be a few but now I can't find any of them.

  • Pavement only did just this one cover of the school house rock songs. I am sure many more exist by other users.

  • @burtflaxton Yes, I have the School House Rocks compilation that has this cover. I was just wondering if any more of them were up online anywhere.

  • @jackhitts08 yeah, there's a killer cover of my hero zero by the lemonheads lurkin around here somewhere

  • @jackhitts08

Check it out on itunes or similar. It's from a cd from the 90's called "School House Rock! Rocks". A bunch of bands did covers of the Schoolhouse Rock songs. Pretty good too, No More Kings is just one of them.

  • @TheJiggsCasey I actually own it. I was just looking for some clips of the other songs to send to friends.

  • mmmm pavement

  • electric does not "mean speed."

  • electric does not "mean speed."

I'm sorry, takeito, i was just hoping for something a bit more intense...i used to love this when i was a kid...i love pavement too...i just wanted to hear it my way and forgot that many interpretations are cool...i was hoping for a Dickies-esque" approach..oh well...please forgive me!!!!

  • if you don't know this band, go buy the album slanted and enchanted and see what you missed in the 90s...then go buy the other albums they made...trust me.

  • Yeah, I agree with the commenter below who said Crooked Rain would be a better introduction.

  • Nice!

  • I think crooked rain would be the best introduction, its brilliant.

  • I absolutely love Pavement's version of this song! Thanks for posting!

  • Me, too. Only thing I remember from this album. 'Cept I think Blind Melon had a good song.

  • I liked that one two, however, I loved Daniel Johnston's "Unpack Your Adjectives."
