  • There ARE British astronauts. The most famous is Michael Foale CBE who has a PhD in astrophyics from Queens College, Cambridge.

    He has been in space 6 times for a total of 373 days on the Soyuz, Shuttle, Mir and the International Space Station including the 3rd Hubble telescope service mission.
