It angers me to think people like the dull, monotonous music today over this type. This music has feeling, emotion and an absolutely amazing solo, and the music today just sounds like crap!

@minijimmypage Sad to say, probably none. Most of the rumors floating around at the time is that In Thru The Out Door and the ensuing tour was going to be their last.
comparing Zep to other bands is like comparing apples and oranges, there is no 'better' or 'worse'. It's like 'Jimmy Page or Jimi Hendrix?' it's a matter of PERSONAL TASTE - both are amazing. I disagree with the whole Zep being 'overrated' comment, in fact they're my favorite band but wtv, it's that person's personal opinion. If he/she is just saying it like that, without knowing the facts, then it's still his/her opinion - an ignorant opinion - but still a that person's personal opinion.
Zep overrated? I must agree! Ask, "best Zep song?"-many will say S.T.H.,Moby Dick, The Ocean, B. dog and many, many, others. Thus the fan base is large & diverse, this is very confusing. Now if one says Tiny Tim, bang, Tip Toe thru The Tulips is the only song anyone can think of him ever singing. Ergo, Tiny Tim is without question the greatest talent of all time-so everyone else is overrated.
@StealYourFace1000 And I believe in that context you'd need the contracted "you're", not "your". I'd say "you're" a total retard then. And a silly hypocrite.
People who like Zep marginally always point out these types of performances in terms of their being overrated. So in Jazz, Miles Davis & Dizzy Gillespie are overrated?
Pop audiences don't get it in general. But there arent any who can copy this performance today even though sound equipment is leaps and bounds what it was 40 years ago. Now imagine the talent it took to not only write the song but improvise Jazz into Rock the way they do live.
@macanoodough Agreed. I can't think of a single current band that can hold a candle to Zeppelin. Sure, there are all kind of effects and equipment available to bands theses days, but nobody can come close to Zeppelin in terms of their compositional and improvisational skills, versatility, musicianship, and sheer power. Plus, they had a commanding stage presence. Bands aren't this badass and sure of themselves anymore. That's why the Zeppelin myth and mystique live on.
JPJ shouldn't be labeled as a Bassist, he should be labeled as a "Bassist/Keyboardist/Multi-Instrumentalist/Awesome Songwriter" who got run over by his band"mates" (especially Page, who often got credit for JPJ's riffs).
@CentraCross Page stole a LOT of stuff, but he only stole from musicians he admired. I think JPJ knows and appreciates this - and therefore he is not the slightest bit resentful.

@o0RubberSoul0o - I hope you do my friend. This generation is in much need of a few real musical geniuses. So if you ever are famous, don’t forget that we once had a conversation on Youtube. A pair of tickets to one of your concerts will do! LOL
@o0RubberSoul0o - Yes The Beatles, Stones, The Who, Byrds, Eagles, CCR, E L & P, Tull, Grand Funk Railroad, Doors, Black Sabbath, Rush, Yes, Fleetwood Mack... There were many more bands that I could have mentioned, but unfortunately Youtube limits the number of characters that you can use. In any case, the ones I made reference to were in my opinion the most talented instrumentally speaking, although I agree that The Beatles and the Stones marked an era that will never be repeated ever again.
Zep, Floyd, Cream, Purple, Allman Brothers and Skynyrd were all very talented bands. Who were the best? It would be very difficult to say as there are many factors to consider. What heights would Skynyrd have reached had they not suffered the plane crash… What if Syd Barrett had not left Floyd... What if Duane Allman had not died at the tender age of 24.. What if Bruce and Baker had not forced the breakup of Cream.. Let’s enjoy them as they were and don’t bother about who was best.
For those of you who dont know, Led Zeppelin played their concerts like this ON PURPOSE! It's called improvisational playing...jazz players do it all the time. They were considered the most influential band of the 70's and one of the best selling artists of all time. Let's face it, not much to really boast about, is it? Out of curiosity, which bands would you consider to be better than Zep?

@JGBugs Yeah, and to add, they NEVER put out a single. Rolling Stones magazine, which has a lot of loyal readers, NEVER put anything in the magazine that was a positive statement about Zeppelin. One of the few articles actually said something along the lines of: "The guitarist was average at best." So, basically, Led Zeppelin had every odd against them. Only the peoples love of their music made them the greatest band to ever form.
@drnapls2 Shit, regardless of how good they are, they can't be overrated, the only people who rate them highly are the people who listen to them. Everyone else (music critics) mostly talk bad about them. Really they are they most critically underrated band. And it is true, they do post one of the most chemical drummer/singer/guitar/bass combo ever known to man.
@drnapls2 No, Nirvana is the most overrated band of all time. Kurt Cobain led a whole generation to believe he was a genius, when he was really just high. lol
@drnapls2 DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, YOU IDIOT? LED ZEPPELIN sold out stadiums, had chart topping hits, and had GREAT albums that sold MILLIONS of copies, all beacause of 4 very talented people, that could create GREAT music. all your little Justin beiber can do is twist a few knobs to have a minorly great voice.
if anyone's ever tried to play this version of this song on guitar....i think you would agree with me that its impossible....even if its not note for note.
I Like this song, but I've only heard it on the radio, so i never got the title. I've been looking for the title for ages! I finally found it! yay! (I shouldn't get involved, but Keith Richards? Really? Sure great, but during his time. Page's life is his time)
reading about those that hate the led..well,i've thought of theenvy, but the world is beautiful couse of different tastes, and we aren't all equal...they area God's gift,4 my taste..********************************
@drnapls2 Everyone ages....at least he's not chocked full of plastic surgery. He is what he is...the master of all guitarists.....even to date. I heard him do some stuff about a year ago, and he played and sounded like he had the hounds of hell riding his back!!!! None better than Mr. Page! BTW, he is 67 years old....who else can play like that at friggin' 67???!!!!
@drnapls2 Keith Richards don't hold a Fucking Candlestick to Jimmy Page, anyone can play some simple licks, chords and riffs, but it takes a genius like Jimmy Page to play the guitar like this, JIMMY PAGE > KEITH RICHARDS PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@bikkk57 Let me help you out here, fuckstick. Keith can play a variety of music....blues, disco, country, pop, hard core rock, and many, many more genres of music. However, Jimmy is one of my all time faves, he has a style that is his own. He doesn't and possibly can't branch out to anything other than Zep hard core rock. My vote is for a MASTER of many styles of music......not just ONE....By the way, how old are you....15??
if jimmy is one of your all time faves you should know he doesn't just play one style. First of all you can hear many different styles and genres of music within Led zeppelin's many songs and albums. They are heavily blues and folk influenced to start with. Pages guitar stylings have a vast range. If you don't hear the differences it's your own narrow mindedness to blame. And no one wants to hear any guitar player jamming out DISCO, so kindly leave that shit somewhere else.
@mrmorris5566 Actually, Jimmy Page's style is a perfect mix of jazz and blues. Led Zeppelin was just raw, powerful rock music because of it's blues influence. But many of the more complex structures of the songs were from the jazz influence. Because they're British, they naturally made better music than Americans, but they used American musical influences to create a unique, and awesome sound.
@avocate201 the only person who could play at his level back in the lat 60s/early70s as well, Jeff Beck and Jimmy are the greatest guitar gods still walking this Earth
@drnapls2 he is partly Chinese you cretin bastard . And what's funny about that ? Besides , didn't I tell you to fuck off already ? ( and also ... Kieth Richards ? I wouldn't let that freaked out old goat play rythym guitar in my garage band
I also think Zeppelin brought more to the table then their peers. All 4 of them were bona fide brilliant musicians. No other band had as much contribution from each member as Led Zep. Not Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, The Who, The Rollings Stones and on and on. Page: pretty decent guitarist, studio genious. Plant: hippe lyricist with the most immitated rock voice ever. Jones: Great musician, song writer and carried the load when Page was "not well". Bonzo: IMHO the best drummer ever.
@RJS666 Member for member, I think Zeppelin has been the most fiercely and awesomely talented band in rock and roll history. There are many other bands that I like from the classic rock era, but when I listen to the Beatles, the Stones, or the Who, I don't think to myself, "How did they play that???" Zeppelin is the only band I can think of in which every single member was brilliant at what he did and is described in superlatives like "the greatest" fill-in-the-blank of all time.
Agreed. Today's commercial rock music is pure crap compared to older bands, but there are good new bands out there. You won't find them on most radio stations though. But the 70's gave us disco and the 80's gave us Flock of Seagulls so who are we to compare. As for Led Zep. They were simply the best band in generation that spawned many great bands.
sloppy yes. horrible? The song is fucking brilliant. I love the way Page works his way out of the solo with that nice catchy riff that isn't on the studio cut.
@RJS666 YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been all over that riff for months now!!! I've recently found the video and that song.....with that extra little pleasure included...it's freakin' awesome!!! My eight year old wants a Les Paul!!!!
all you led zeppelin haters...go fuck yourselves, you are complete fucktard dipshits and have an absolutly harrible taste of music so just shut the fuck up...I LOVE YOU LED ZEPPELIN!!!
I personally think most of their live material is better than their studio recorded songs because they make their mistakes seem like its a natural part of the melody/song. Nowadays you hear someone mess up in a song and you just laugh at them.
@BiotoxicityFactor this isnt one of zep's best live videos. If you havent watched all of the royal albert hall and MSG concerts watch them first and youll probably change your mind. The No Quarter, Stairway, and Since IVe Been Lovin You to name just a couple from MSG are incredible. Page kills all those solos and they change the songs considerably from the studio albums, something few bands do. If you have seen them, i gues theres no changing you opinion
In some ways I like the live performances better than the studio versions. It shows the band's true form. For the people who think they were shit live, watch the movie The Song Remains the Same.
@BostonRSox10 Fucking A right....the more and more I watching these old concerts I cant quit listening to the live versions. ONLY ZEPPELIN can you love their studio and live versions!
the reason plant's vocals sound off at times in this performance is because like the day before this concert he got a bad flu or some sickness of that kind. he still went out and sang, and even though his voice sounded off in some of his higher songs, he still managed to have some really good ones (in my time of dying from this performance was really good) though that might have been earls court on the next day cuz i think they played like 2 or 3 concerts there.

@drnapls2 No, Nirvana is the most overrated band of all time. Kurt Cobain led a whole generation to believe he was a genius, when he was really just high. lol
dontworrybehappy6 9 months ago 3
@drnapls2 DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, YOU IDIOT? LED ZEPPELIN sold out stadiums, had chart topping hits, and had GREAT albums that sold MILLIONS of copies, all beacause of 4 very talented people, that could create GREAT music. all your little Justin beiber can do is twist a few knobs to have a minorly great voice.

I Like this song, but I've only heard it on the radio, so i never got the title. I've been looking for the title for ages! I finally found it! yay! (I shouldn't get involved, but Keith Richards? Really? Sure great, but during his time. Page's life is his time)
Aorla7 11 months ago
Favorite Zeppelin song, also, Plant doesn't sound quite as unbelievable live, but he is still unbelievable, I love his little add ins.

Have you seen a recient picture of Page? He looks chinese!!!!!!LOL!
drnapls2 11 months ago
@drnapls2 Everyone ages....at least he's not chocked full of plastic surgery. He is what he is...the master of all guitarists.....even to date. I heard him do some stuff about a year ago, and he played and sounded like he had the hounds of hell riding his back!!!! None better than Mr. Page! BTW, he is 67 years old....who else can play like that at friggin' 67???!!!!
mrmorris5566 11 months ago
@mrmorris5566 Who else? Ever heard of Keith Richards?
drnapls2 11 months ago
@drnapls2 yes my friend heard of Keith..he is good..but Mr. Page is Mr.Page
smogs007 11 months ago
@drnapls2 Keith Richards don't hold a Fucking Candlestick to Jimmy Page, anyone can play some simple licks, chords and riffs, but it takes a genius like Jimmy Page to play the guitar like this, JIMMY PAGE > KEITH RICHARDS PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bikkk57 11 months ago
@bikkk57 Let me help you out here, fuckstick. Keith can play a variety of music....blues, disco, country, pop, hard core rock, and many, many more genres of music. However, Jimmy is one of my all time faves, he has a style that is his own. He doesn't and possibly can't branch out to anything other than Zep hard core rock. My vote is for a MASTER of many styles of music......not just ONE....By the way, how old are you....15??
mrmorris5566 7 months ago
@mrmorris5566
if jimmy is one of your all time faves you should know he doesn't just play one style. First of all you can hear many different styles and genres of music within Led zeppelin's many songs and albums. They are heavily blues and folk influenced to start with. Pages guitar stylings have a vast range. If you don't hear the differences it's your own narrow mindedness to blame. And no one wants to hear any guitar player jamming out DISCO, so kindly leave that shit somewhere else.
maltesefalcon73 7 months ago
@mrmorris5566 Actually, Jimmy Page's style is a perfect mix of jazz and blues. Led Zeppelin was just raw, powerful rock music because of it's blues influence. But many of the more complex structures of the songs were from the jazz influence. Because they're British, they naturally made better music than Americans, but they used American musical influences to create a unique, and awesome sound.
69ofdoom 7 months ago
@drnapls2 yeah about 30 years ago!!! and thats saying alot!! PAGE IS THE MASTER!!!
MegaZephead 11 months ago
@mrmorris5566 Yes, Page still plays at a very high level. I think the only other person his age who can still play with such ferocity is Jeff Beck.
avocate201 8 months ago
@avocate201 the only person who could play at his level back in the lat 60s/early70s as well, Jeff Beck and Jimmy are the greatest guitar gods still walking this Earth

RJS666 11 months ago 3
@RJS666 Member for member, I think Zeppelin has been the most fiercely and awesomely talented band in rock and roll history. There are many other bands that I like from the classic rock era, but when I listen to the Beatles, the Stones, or the Who, I don't think to myself, "How did they play that???" Zeppelin is the only band I can think of in which every single member was brilliant at what he did and is described in superlatives like "the greatest" fill-in-the-blank of all time.
avocate201 8 months ago 35
@avocate201
I agree, they make you feel differently about every song. Emotion Wise.
i will however name a few that "cut the mustard"
Rush
Tesla
They are all awesome musicians...
lettox12 5 months ago

I personally think most of their live material is better than their studio recorded songs because they make their mistakes seem like its a natural part of the melody/song. Nowadays you hear someone mess up in a song and you just laugh at them.
Funtokill414 1 year ago
@Funtokill414 they aren't mistakes, he adds and changes things as he goes.

If you have seen them, i gues theres no changing you opinion
mcquick22 1 year ago
@BiotoxicityFactor What a joke bro LMAO, but listen some bootleg of 73 like hambourg, vienna, kezar or osaka 71,but srys, listen even talk...

In some ways I like the live performances better than the studio versions. It shows the band's true form. For the people who think they were shit live, watch the movie The Song Remains the Same.
BostonRSox10 1 year ago
@BostonRSox10 Fucking A right....the more and more I watching these old concerts I cant quit listening to the live versions. ONLY ZEPPELIN can you love their studio and live versions!
Bandito8487 1 year ago
the reason plant's vocals sound off at times in this performance is because like the day before this concert he got a bad flu or some sickness of that kind. he still went out and sang, and even though his voice sounded off in some of his higher songs, he still managed to have some really good ones (in my time of dying from this performance was really good) though that might have been earls court on the next day cuz i think they played like 2 or 3 concerts there.
