Roors are not a total waste of money and are not cheaply made at all. I have a Roor that was on sale at a local headshop for $240 after tax. It is an american roor and with a diffused downstem its so smooth there is no need for all those fancy diffusers in the tube. $1000 is alot of money but there are tubes in my local headshop that cost alot more than that. I would never buy one but if you have a lot of money to spare, why not?

You can use a torch lighter if you want, although only if you know how to use it. If you hold it to the bowl for just a split second, but holding the flame as far away as possible while still applying heat because of the temperature torches can get to, and then take it away, you can use them safely enough. Nothing will beat glass tips, heated elements, or beeline wax wick's obviously, if the person knows how to use them that is.

It's the old debate about inhaling butane and other byproducts from the source you get your flame from, and which is better health wise. As I said torches are good if you know how to use one because all it takes is a quick, short, distanced, blast from the flame. I recently got a Beeline wick and I must say the smoke doesn't leave that sometimes nasty taste after taking a hit, unlike when using a bic or a torch. I guess Beeline's promotional video for it is legit.
