  • i rekon laura and her frinds should sort out the adverts

  • God, I am Scottish. I wish this lass was scottish to write such a beautiful song about our nation, but alas she is yours England. Be fecking proud of her because she is an amazing talent. I'm talking once in a lifetime talent.

  • She is beautiful in EVERY WAY

  • UNBELIEVABLE...

  • 4 people don't like snow... boring farts

  • i'm going to work on only an hour's sleep because of her videos. It's been years since I started listening to her, and I still can't stop having marathon sessions everytime I try to play one of her songs.

It can never be just one, somebody help me please.

  • highly talented

  • this girl is so insanely talented

  • There is still England, but where are English people ? :D

  • @powstaniecpolski Well there are 50+ million in Britain itself, plus the God knows how many overseas as well (writing as I am from Kyiv). So that's where we/they are.

  • I wouldn't say she's like an extra arm but she IS a part of my heart.

    <3

  • I think I prefer the way she sings the chrous on the album version, still amazing though

  • I'm in love

  • Lovely.

If you want to test a singer's ability, stick 'em on a stage with just a mic and an acoustic guitar. It soon sorts the wheat from the chaff.

  • Would somebody please pass me a handkerchief? There appears to be a small red smudge on the ‘utterly love’ bar.

  • Nothing makes me miss England more than when I listen to this song. You know that feeling of complete comfort and contentedness? When you know you're home? That, 'softest red scarf' Laura's talking about - that's how I feel about Kingston upon Thames. I'll be home soon, London.

  • everything about her. i see her or hear her and i want to kiss her. so beautiful and talented.

  • The "I never loved England more than when covered in snow" part ALWAYS reminds me "I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed" in the spaghetti version of On Top of Old Smoky. I don't even know.

  • So haunting... somehow reminds me of "Tall Trees in Georgia" sung by Eva Cassidy.

  • I want to cry everytime I hear this.

  • Beautiful ....................

  • i love it when she sings "we will keep you, we will keep you" sooo beautiful

  • She made me cry.

  • @smithdoon was in methodist central hall in london watching her and nearly cried as well. so beautiful and pure

  • Laura Marling live youtube videos are ADDICTIVE!!! screw my course work :)

  • @Simwilson33 Haha so true. I'm having the same problem.

  • @Simwilson33 my exact life atm! :P x

  • This song wrenches emotions from the deepest depths of my soul.

  • Watched her sing this at Gloucester Cathedral on Tuesday, properly nearly cried.

    Simply stunning.

  • @smithdoon I was there as well! There was a double wave of clapping after this song: the clapping ended and then it just started again!

  • she is just the most perfect thing i think has ever graced this earth

  • i love florence and the machine, adele, those artists. but they all seem like chart music versions of Laura. im so glad i found her three years ago

  • I'm in love with her since I saw this Like a year and a half ago and it's sweet she teams up with bands like Mumford and son, mystery jets and Noah and the whale

  • she's awesome and at least music now isn't all crap. Great voice and great song. You go girl.

  • This is beauty in its purest form. I can see bauty, and I can hear it; I can actually feel it.

  • thank you Laura for this beautiful song x

  • "brit folk" will forever be my favorite genre.

  • I always think this could be a song an English family might play at Christmas.... but then there is there part where she talks about fucking a dude, so maybe not so much

  • @newnum2 Hey! I'm just curious (and I swear I'm not being confrontational/challenging; I just like to discuss meanings behind song lyrics) where she is talking about sex in this song. I never really got that connotation, so I'd love to know what you think :)

  • @esispeakbecauseican Well its debatable, but the part where she says "I wrote my name in your book". Especially in the context of all the other relationship stuff in the song.

She also has themes across many songs that are like the laments of a pretty girl. Like in this one where the end of the line kinda changes meaning to "..oh run it off" Like how a well behaved girl who mantains her weight can deal with her anger by exercising. avoiding them eats... give up trying to be thin etc.

  • @newnum2 I just think it's about a woman who believes she's in love with a man who treats her badly. She really enjoys the snow and it brings back the memories they shared but also the fact that she realised she was too good to be treated badly and so left the guy.

  • @newnum2 Also, in an interview she explains that when she was little, her dad took her up to a hill in the snow and said that's where I want you to bury me. It's a wonderful interview here: /watch?v=Kxa479Mm9sk

  • It's not her Voice, it's her Talent

  • @ddannyish her voice is part of her talent....

  • I love her, I love her and I can't help that. It's just that my heart beats faster.

  • God that voice, she's gold.

  • Mesmerizing

  • I've always been jealous of places like Georgia and New York that have uber cool songs named after them.

Goodbye England is now my Georgia :-)

A frail sweet looking girl like Laura shouldn't have the experiences behind her to write such honest, raw and heart wrenching lyrics?

At 43 I don't feel I have the life skills to take on Laura's emotions I think some one mentioned a duet with Damian Rice, I think I need to harden up a bit more first.

    Awesome emotive stuff.

  • Fuck your fuckin ad's you cunt

  • luna lovegood

  • i wonder what the inside joke is that Laura Marling and God have got :)

  • Saw her yesterday but she didn't play that song :(

  • I could listen to her music all day. I went to see her recently in concert and I could have stayed there all night watching her perform. I like the way guys find her sexy too because she is not typically ''hot'', but she is beautiful and that comes aross in her performances of her vasious melodies.

  • would LOVE her to do a duet with Damien Rice.

It would complete my life <3

  • she's the most beautiful person i have ever seen and i absolutely ADORE her

  • Does anyone know her address, or some way of getting a message to her, I want to write a love letter.

    X

  • her voice is changing as she is getting older. In a perfect way!

  • She just transports you somewhere else with her music. The crowd here, you can just feel how mesmerised they are. Just what Laura does amazes me, and I hope she continues writing for decades. She has made a place for herself in the music industry and one day her name will be as recognisable and as frequently heard as Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, and hopefully she'll become even more famous. Laura Marling: I. LOVE. You

  • This woman is a genius. Such an incredible genius. She has created a masterpiece that's not only miles ahead songwriters today, but many before her. And she's only 20. This woman is meant for greatness.

  • this is my favourite performance of this song! She sings it perfectly! There's something about the melody and the phrasing which feels a lil' different too! noice.

  • She is like Sophie Hunger!

  • I could listen to her voice all day, everyday.

  • she is stunning, both with her talent and her beauty.

  • absolutely love the artists on jools holland. laura, along with adele are two of the best performers out there. this is just beautiful.

  • perfect.. amazing.. love her! thanks for your great voice, and your biggest show, from Brazil!

  • I like her!

    but..

Have you guys noticed that she never laughs?

  • @xaman04 No. Ive heard her laugh and I can assure you that it's the cutest laugh that You'll ever hear :D

  • @xaman04 She does! I watched her at Glastonbury and there are a few recordings that she giggles in :)

  • @xaman04 Yes she does... I have seen her laugh so many times.

  • Kinda restores my faith in live music She's bloody good!

  • Her live performance here is great, she is so much more confident than earlier stuff. she is loverly and I love her voice this song is very poignant and she is just really good. Still think she will reach another level of amazingnance, in the futire!

  • she's so unbelievably pretty it just astounds me, and this comes from a girl!

  • she almost has a judy garland rasp at times...

  • 408 likes, 1 dislike.

shows that finally, this planet has come to it's senses

    apart from that one motherfucker

  • @HiimCait1703 hahahahaha...

  • @HiimCait1703 haters gonna hate. You think you soo distinct? laura wouldn't be so hateful, who are you? nobody.

  • @lyrilljackson well I'm obviously not nobody because that would mean I don't exist, which I do. But I'm Cait, nice to meet you and I'm one of Laura's biggest fans, I've seen her live 3 times and I've got 2 sets of tickets to see her this year so stop thinking you're clever. I love her and I know she might not be a hateful person but I am.

  • @HiimCait1703 stop being proud and thinking at least you know it. Haters gonna hate but your pitiful record is nothing close to hardcore, calling yourself biggest fan, what a joke

  • All singers should learn from her to be themselves, to be unique and natural.

  • Unbelievably fantastic performance ♥

  • i watched this like 58 times this month. still amazed when she says 'at the end of my nose'

  • wow!!! she's brilliant.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=c3Q8XoyzVaA

  • She has improved as such, with her live performance. This is a beautiful song and she is amazing.

  • she reminds me alot of joni mitchell

  • She's coming to Imperial College soon!

  • this is somewhere between holy crap and OMG. beautiful music!!!

  • I can't place where the melody comes from - it's certainly familiar, from a rhyme/chant. Anyone got a Scooby?

  • @leejoliver It comes from the beautiful mind of laura marling :) <3

  • theres one person whos not covered in snow

  • @michmateo what? what are you implying?

  • She reminds me a little of Ani Difranco - I like this song :)

  • I know that artists like Laura are so under appreciated, but in a way I like it. It's like her fans and followers all know a lovely secret. Sometimes when artists go massive, they kinda feel a little less special and less personal. Besides, if being successful with the general public would see her placed in the charts next to ladies like Cheryl Cole and Rihanna, then she suits it better out of the charts. She's way over and above them.

  • @LaughitOff1992 wow, i could not agree more. well said, mate.

  • Comment removed

  • @LaughitOff1992 clap clap well said

  • @LaughitOff1992 well said!

  • @LaughitOff1992 You may want her to be your little secret, but dollars to donuts she wants as many people to hear her stuff as humanly possible. I wouldn't hold that against any artist whose music I dig (and would continue to dig even if vid gets 60 million hits one day).

  • Marling's a darling.

  • this song just makes me want to driff through life dont do nothing but listen to her

  • Brilliant human creature!

  • Most haunting song ever. Must find someone to cuddle with.

  • @giantsockmonkey oheyy there ;)

  • It's so mesmeric. Just puts you completely at ease. She's a wonderful talent. Can't wait to see her at Cambridge this year. :0)

  • gives me goosebumps

  • her fingers move so fast!!

  • Google adthwart people! I haven't watched a YouTube advert in months.

  • wtf a 30 second long advert? it's getting worse nd worse...

  • 1 poor soul,alone and trouble.

  • lovely song sung with alot of feeling and emotion .i'd say well done to Laura,i enjoyed every minute of it .to,ABURTCH i am not in the least depressed i am a very happy person ,enjoying my life .

  • I hear a lot of Joni Mitchell in her music, but that's a good thing. Laura is an incredibly talented artist.

  • @spoofmusic2010 well some people like depressing music. and maybe its her folk influences that make her seem depressing.

  • @Artyfartyify Folk music is far from depressing.Country music REAL country music well that is another story.I am Scottish but this song about England was beatiful it summoned up a nice mental picture in my mind. What sort of music are you into?If you think that about folk music? One of the most respected musical formats out of all off them.

  • @legandrydirk i'm into everything and I find the lyrics can be a tad sad, that's all. melodically speaking folk music is simply beautiful. listen to little Molly-o by Simon Mayer. it starts my day off perfectly :).

  • @spoofmusic2010 You ignoramus

  • @spoofmusic2010 that's your opinion. my opinion is that you are so completely wrong.

  • @spoofmusic2010 people seem to interpret any other emotion besides happiness to be absolute depression.

perhaps you're missing out on life because you're not willing to feel anything.

  • Wow .

  • She's quite unique. Never repeating verse after verse. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Also she's fricking hot

  • This is a great song!

  • reid322 Have faith man!

  • Pure genius!

  • This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard!

  • I LIKE

  • its a shame that someone like Cheryl Cole will be credited for her talent on a national level at The Brits, whereas the likes of Laura Marling and others that can sing and perform will be left in the shadows!

  • She loves England when she's covered in snow. She should keep some snow in a deep freezer so she can cover herself with it in the summer and be able to still love England.

  • @ellisha90 how the hell do you know? because she sings a nice song?

  • @ellisha90 you only say that because she has a nice voice and she's a good lyracist. She could be a screaming evil bitch for all you know.

  • She reminds me of Mary Stewart Masterson.

  • wonderful. Come to Italy please!!

  • shes so talented, she looks and sounds so much older than 20

  • her voice is unbelievably beautiful, my favourite song from a perfect album

  • It's perfect music for the winter we've been having, right?

  • i want to go swimming with you!

  • I love how happy she looks when she sings "I'm too good for that/ there's a mind under this hat"

  • She plays like a musical comedienne does.

  • she's so brave. there on the stage on her own!

  • the way her eyes are are almost bob dylan-esque during his younger years

  • She is a classic beauty.

  • This sums up all my feelings at the moment. <3

  • I don't like how she has changed the key :(

  • i love the way she says "throat"

  • marry me? yeahkthanks!

  • England. My home. My life xxxx

  • goddess

  • laura marling is the most magical music genius i've experienced in my 34 yrs.

  • Jazzy delivery. Scarily self-possessed.

  • shes so transfixed its wonderful

  • I wish I was her

  • i wish i was with her

  • Whoa.. she's great. Almost as great as Lydia Liza!

  • Whoa.. she's great. Almost as great as Lydia Liza!

  • wow, her voice, her self, just gets more and more beautiful

  • laura marling is truley thought provoking in this, winter is much more inspiring and emotive that the others

  • Laura makes me glad to be alive. So sad what passes for talent these days. Not everyone can appreciate the level of skill and dedication it takes to be this good.

I for one think she's one of the most gifted songstresses today.

Laura marry me and have my bucktooth babies!!!

  • Theres something so mesmerizing by this. Beautiful.

  • this is better than the version on her cd (as far as i've heard it on her website)

  • @acerflots you're right. there's something a little bit more magical about just hearing tiny laura and her guitar. she doesn't need any production at all. so amazing.

  • It's like she's in her own world when she's singing. Her eyes are like in another world, a dream world. I just simply love it.

  • Comment removed

  • @IKbenBettina I was just thinking the same.. She's so sweet :)

  • This girl is amazing - I love her. She's a beautiful guitarist, and a stunningly poetic lyricist. This is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long, long time. This song reminds me of a novel, and it's funny, she even looks like my image of the book's protagonist. Laura, you're amazing!!

  • Laura's voice and her guitar. That's enough.
