The original version of this tune was recorded by none other than the late Nick Ashford himself (Verve 10599) - a year before The Fifth Dimension included it on their Stoned Soul Picnic LP. Love the ending on this version but the Undisputed Truth's best were "Help Yourself," "Law of the Land,' "UFO's," "You + Me + Love" , "Smiling Faces Sometimes" and "You Got The Love I Need.""

This is a rare and terrific version of "California Soul." "Thanks for posting. The Undisputed Truth should be remembered for more than "smiling Face," which is of course a classic.
