I do these in my PE class and I can do them for ages unless I use a fair amount of weight, so since we only go for about a minute I use 35-40 lbs, in this video you recommend lower weights, is that just because of you doing more reps?
Hey man, I commented before, I've been doing this exersise everyday now, one thing is I always have trouble gripping the dumbell with both hands. I only have 20 pound dumbells and it always slides between my fingers and presses on the side of my hand. Do you know of any optional ways to grip it?
That is one possibility for this exercise. However this exercise is intended to increase your core strength. Most fighters will argue core strength is on of the most important areas of strength training.
In regards to the full contact twist with a barbell, I am not familiar with that exercise.
That is an IMPROPER way to do this exercise!!!!! Sorry dude,,,,check this link out instead. Fitness Tips with Chrissy Zmijewski: The Russian Twist

1) dont worry about gripping it as much and let it rest on your hands
2) buy some wrapping tape for a tennis racket or lacrosse shaft, and wrap the handle in it
3) Use another item, such as a medicine ball or anything of equivalent weight.
