Note: The singing is so strange because they are vocalizing in a style called Shingin used for the traditional songs these instruments usually accompany. It's quite hilarious and probably meant to be so.

@PraiseDivineMercy: Whatever the style is called they're vocalizing in, and in whatever style Japanese Folk instruments are meant to be played... the tune they're trying to perform is meant to be sung in a very different style. It's called "Rock 'n' Roll", and it looks and sounds very different.

That's why, for example, the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra does neither perform Shingin nor Rock 'n' Roll. It's because their instruments are not suited for that type of music.

Actually I suspect there's a lot of Jazz and Rock being played at most symphonic rehearsals. Musicians like having fun while they work.

If you knew me, you'd also know that I am actually a musician myself, always trying to find the limits of the instruments I play myself. And yet, there's limits. That's why I do not sing certain songs, because it wouldn't make much sense to me (or, at least, I'm not aware of arrangements or how to arrange certain songs). This is also the case here - in my opinion. After all, it's all a matter of taste, of course.

Speaking for myself, I have great respect of Japanese traditional music, that's why I cared for this tune at all. I also have great respect for Rock 'n' Roll. Maybe, these two would match under other circumstances - however, in this case, they didn't - not even by my standards of humor :-)
