Hello, I live in Canada and really want to get a male African Bullfrog or a Chilean Widemouth frog. Do any of you know a good website where i can get one of these frogs and shipped to Canada (Toronto specifically).
is it a good idea to feed these guys mealworms and dead crickets for their main diet because keeping rickets alive has to be the biggest pain in the ass!
@ExileMCR In all honesty you need to feed these guys live food. I wouldn't offer mealworms, or atleast not often. If you are in the states or Europe you can use dubia roaches, they're the best and certainly won't die like crickets. Get a small colony going and you'll have enough different sizes for your frogs whole life :).
@AnimalFreakization I purchased them from a dealer I used to work with who supplied me with my feeders because previously I needed tones! (I used to breed crested geckos). I would say get them from a reptile show, or a local pet shop... They occasionally offer them for feeders. Remember if your feeding a horned frog one mouse aevery few months is more than enough! Very high fat content!
This was quite some time ago. This setup was designed for the frog when it was a frogglet. Substrate was coconut-husk, a shallow water dish was provided, temps and humidity where kept at 80%. So my question to you is why "was" this a bad setup? Thanks
Crickets and worms are this frogs (and should be most frogs) stable diet. Mice can be given once a month tops as a treat or for the heck of it. Just pointing this out :)
Thanks guys, ya she is always hungry no matter how much I feed her! I often have to tell myself to stop feeding her because she already ate like 8 small crickets and a mealworm (for example)!
Poor pinky mouse
