CT is still the only state left without a contract. all the prem techs are either gone or are awaiting termination. there's 160 layoffs coming up for installers now (the paperwork comes out today). our local hasn't taken any action on this and are still raising union dues. The particular local that I have been forced to be part of lied to us from the beginning. There was no vote of those who were being unionized as to whether we actually wanted it or not. We were told that we were grandfathered in and would not have to pay dues, and a year later we were told that paying dues was a condition of employment. You will note that PAYING DUES is a condition of employment, not union membership, so I am being forced to pay without actually having a voice in the union.
I suggest you join your union...then when your negotiators fail you, you vote down the deal they made. They are only trying to get the best they can based on the participation of the members. If everyone joined the union and then participated 100%...The Union would be unstoppable. The reason the company is running over the employees is because the employees are fat, lazy and stupid now. They think the Union owes them something just because they pay dues. It doesnt work that way.

My reasons for complaint against the union and my 'Company Wins Again' comment are many. Not the least of which being the fact that the contract that my group is under (not the core contract) allows for a "Needs of the business" clause that has been used over and over to force overtime and other unpleasantness because the negotiators for us have failed

Thats the response I get. I work my ass off for this company. I deal with the same bullshit everyone else does. I deal with the refurbs, the chronics, the shitty UG's, the shitty plant, the upset customers, the no existing cable on a six box. Last month I was 115% productive. 0 repeats out of 30 on I10s. 1 repeat out of 42 R10s. But it doesnt matter. Like the union told me theres nothing I can do. I will hve to wait and see. I pray I dont get bumped. I like my job. And want to stay.

I have read the contract. I am involved in the union. And none of that shit helped. It doesnt matter what I do. Nothing can stop getting bumped. And you do nothing but get on here and bitch. I dont know who the hell you are, and that is probably a good thing. I will say this. The prem techs have been treated badly in the past, (im guessing you are in San Antonio) but there's a "New Sheriff in Town" with the CWA who isnt going to put up with incompetent, disrepectful managers or crybaby techs. You have a problem..then grieve it! The Union cant help you if you wont help yourself. If you think that running to I&R is going to change things..You are dead wrong.

That's all these higher up care about. I'd like to see any of these higher ups come down to my level and crawl a attic or get down beneath a house with mold and insects, what have you and still keep these imaginary numbers up.

The particular local that I have been forced to be part of lied to us from the beginning. There was no vote of those who were being unionized as to whether we actually wanted it or not. We were told that we were grandfathered in and would not have to pay dues, and a year later we were told that paying dues was a condition of employment. You will note that PAYING DUES is a condition of employment, not union membership, so I am being forced to pay without actually having a voice in the union.

I suggest you join your union...then when your negotiators fail you, you vote down the deal they made. They are only trying to get the best they can based on the participation of the members. If everyone joined the union and then participated 100%...The Union would be unstoppable. The reason the company is running over the employees is because the employees are fat, lazy and stupid now. They think the Union owes them something just because they pay dues. It doesnt work that way.

I actually agree with you that the company isn't any better. It sets unreasonable goals and expectations with no regard to the employees.
My reasons for complaint against the union and my 'Company Wins Again' comment are many. Not the least of which being the fact that the contract that my group is under (not the core contract) allows for a "Needs of the business" clause that has been used over and over to force overtime and other unpleasantness because the negotiators for us have failed
