  • Hello Facebook fans! You are all awesome!

  • Just me or is that Ian Williams from Battles and Don Caballero at 0:22?

  • @spaceorgysyndicate

    Yep, it very much is.

  • @spaceorgysyndicate yes it is

  • A COSBY SWEATAHH!!!!!

  • "Dry the rain" is probably one of the best pieces ever written in popular music, such a beautiful and catchy tune, it just never gets boring and you can listen to it in almost every situation you're in. Since I discovered this band with this scene the song and the three eps compilation are in my list of the top songs/albums of all times. Too bad they decided to quit the Beta Band and I never had the chance to see them live.

  • O nome do album é 3 EP's, não são tres discos, maldita legenda

  • Ian Williams! :O

  • @Vongola007 WHAT FUCKING IAN GUY?

  • @seabeesrock the guy at 0:21!!!

  • @Vongola007 No I was quoting John Cusack's character as a joke :P

  • ...And that was the moment I fell in love with the Beta Band all over again.

  • @highschoolmusical841 Thanks for your reply. I didn't read any of it, although purely by reflex action, my eyes caught sight of something like "ahahaha!" Losers always resort to this. You aren't really laughing at all; you're simply too dumb to come up with something better. I am enjoying crushing you. Please hurry and send another message for me to ignore :-)

  • @worthlessdollar1 You're a fuckin' douche. Didn't read any of it? Wow, and he's the loser?

  • @highschoolmusical841 I didn't even bother reading your reply, fucktard. In case you're still confused, Great Britain is an island. England is just one region of Great Britain. Now please hurry and send another reply for me to ignore, I find it highly entertaining :-)

  • @highschoolmusical841 England is not an island, fucktard.

  • @worthlessdollar1 ...and what is mate ?

  • "...and what is mate?"

^^ Am I supposed to know what the fuck you're talking about?

  • IAN WILLIAMS!

  • aww the power of music : )

  • you can see Lifelike by UI in this scene!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaa esta pelicula es de las mejores ke han existido

    jhon kiusack es realmente bueno

  • I will now sell five copies of "the three ep's" by The Beta Band

  • @champvinyl99 Do It.

  • @champvinyl99 yep, thats what he said

  • thats really bad ass 26095

  • @whitestripesaholic It's a funny, small world. I just about shit when I was sitting in the theater, and this scene came on!

  • @26095 you "just about shit" often. see a doctor.

  • Ian Williams cameo ^^ Stephen Frears knows his music.

  • @PaulyPlz sadly according to the dvd interviews he doesn't. most of the musical elements of the film were ratified by frears who was advised by cusack and the other screen writers. frears confessed he was musically illiterate.

  • "It's good." "I know." CLASSIC!

  • I love this clip

  • one of my TOP 5 MOVIES!

  • @KGBfbiSECUpolitia Greetings from your favorite country. Do you see a doctor & what mental health issues do you have out of interest?

  • greta movie

  • I really enjoy your insanity. :)

  • Love this. <3.

  • the bold guy looks like moby.

  • @cosmicrider287 bold?

  • baldy.

  • @valhalla17 @johnnymac1986

Beeta is the British way of saying it, Baytah is the American way. Though since The Beta Band are Scottish, I would say the safest bet is Beeta

Just my thoughts on the matter.

  • this is about 4 minutes into the actual song

  • its pronounced BAY TAH

  • "U call YRselves GREATbrit_ain but R StillWORSEoff than:USA, ARGENTINA, Asia, Africa, etc"

What? Or do you not mean financially?

Nobody's a fuckwit. I'm not proud of some of the UK's problems but there are similar ones elsewhere in the world. Learn to type properly. Also, it's ridiculous to try and quantify acting talent and say one country has better acting than another.

  • Right, I'm sorry but that's pretty much racist. Nobody in the UK agreed with Russel Brand and Johnathan Ross's once-off joke. Those who did I hate. Also nobody in Britain now agrees with Britain's foreign exploits of the past. I tried to respond rationally and you came back with something utterly racist so I don't feel I should apologise to you for anything.

I'm glad this abuse is seemingly restricted only to the internet.

On topic, I like this scene and the fact that Ian Williams is in it.

  • - I live in the UK and have done all my life.

    - We have a good education system right into higher education. It's the fault of the children - not the parents - if the children choose not to attend.

    - The vast majority of the UK are not racist and disapprove of the word "Paki" as a derogitory term.

    - I already said most people didn't find that joke amusing. Also you're biting your own tongue by saying "...anal+oral..."

    - The UK doesn't look at or produce the most porn per capita.

  • interesting comment

  • Fenomenal!

  • amerians u dnt know what your saying its the beta band not beeeta .

  • ahhhh i wouldve bought it.

  • wait a little momento. listen and see thjis band from ARgentina, localzated in south america, and fighting for some else:

    MOONBOAT BAMBOO

. listen. and give me a word

  • well at least in england we're not all fuckwits like you, which you clearly demonstrated you twat. I mean what kind of moron says american actors are better? On what basis that there are more???

sort your fucking life out you inbred

  • im not a twat and im english-dont worry i know u wernt generalising they do appear a fool however

  • 0:21 is that Ian Willians?

  • Sure is, he's mackin'

  • It sure is. Best cameo ever

  • BARRY, THE DOOR!!!

  • i <333 this movie!

  • i just watched this film yesterday 4 d first time, an had to find this scene and song, lol

  • Proud to say I was sleeping in the drummer's bed when they were recording that. (He was recording. I was sleeping.)

Dark and stormy Scottish night at his folks' house.

  • The Beta's for life!!! Tell me more!!!!

  • Just a bit of cool serendipity. The world is smaller than most people think. But I've met up with him here in the States a couple times when they've been touring.

  • @26095 dont care. you suck

  • @26095 i like the fact you say "the drummer" and don't say his name ...me smells bullshit.

  • @mralan1969uk Robin, and his parents are Sheena and Michael. Michael was a park ranger in the Pentlands, and he and Sheena had been to college with my sister in law in Edinburgh in the early 60s, with a slew of other interesting people, one of whom was the Queen's Press Secretary, another is a Member of Parliament. I suppose I could name them, but you could Google it yourself, after eating a dick.

  • @26095 i love wikipedia

  • @mralan1969uk Pffft.

    Whateve.

  • At 0:42 you can see The Mummies "Play Their Own Records" LP. If those kids were smart, they would have stolen that record.

  • deafness* :p

  • Great tune and great band. saw them in Bristol once and for the encore they were all running around stage swapping instruments every few secs. Mindblowing gig. One of the best i've seen live and loud as fuck too, almost My Bloody Valentine deathness. Quality.

  • Great movie, great band too.

  • fuera asi de fasil ¡¡¡

  • No that was the wrong one, it was a lipgloss. Looks like you all can play magic with registrations, how come?

  • I just few seconds ago watch this movie! :) Great!

  • Ian Williams is such a champ, and a stud, he was mackin' hard.

  • whats the song called?

  • dry the rain

  • dry the rain :)

  • Oh Lol. The Beta Band are great.

  • I love the part in this scene where the guy asks Rob who the band is and after he says it's good Rob say's I Know..

As im sure everyone who has the Album is aware that I Know is track 2 after Dry The Rain.

I always find that dam cool :)

  • Are you fucking serious dude? It's a coincidence poseur.

  • Good one Man, I never noticed that.

  • YAY IAN WILLIAMS :]

  • that look he gives is hilarious

  • fantastic movie. john cusak is cool

  • record store movies are cool

  • I actually love that band.

  • great!

  • ke skifo!!

  • the funny thing about this scene is that it got ME to buy a copy of the three eps.

  • Me too. The music superviser for the movie said the same as Rob except it was 5,000 copies insted of 5.

  • Me three!

  • It's also a really awesome song ..... just FYI. Might wanna like .... listen to the whole thing sometime before being like, all judgemental and weird and shiat.

    Hosers.

  • lol, I love this scene, such an indie lover John Cusack in this flick

  • the majority of you need to go fuck yourselves. L.L.T.B.B.

  • No, The Pistols were a bunch of limey, wanker wannabees molded into what they merely were, a McLaren puppet act. Unlike your precious little Pistols, The Ramones didn't take themselves seriously and that in itself makes for a better band. They didn't get bogged down with politics, it was simple, great music with no frills. Now kindly get back to sodomizing 'roos, joycie, ya silly cunt.

  • The reality is that music is constantly changing around us, and everyone are influenced by everyone else. good musicians listen to a variety of music with an open mind, and draw influence from it. Both nations have great strengths in different areas, therefore influencing one another in different ways.

  • robken0174 isn't it ironic that you're going on about how british music is influenced by american artists on the site of an american film that has been influenced from a British book with mostly British music in it. If you wanted to put your point across about how great your countries music is maybe you should have at least named one decent band. Talking Heads being the exeption.Oh and your profile name is an anagram of Knober.HAHAHA

  • Well, it's still a valid point and the discussions here seem to be bouncing every which way, so why not? Christ, "knober?" What are you five, ya cheesy munce.

  • The 'BAYTER' Band. lol.

  • isnt' that ian williams?

  • Maybe they filmed on a busy day haha

  • great movie x

  • what ive always wondered about this scene is why there's so many people in the store. in pretty much every other scene it's near-empty or empty, but here it seems to be really busy. and its not explained why

  • I always wondered that....

  • well.. mayb its a saturday.. or sunday

  • IT'S PAYDAY. ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS.

  • Ohhhhh yeah. Obscure British band wowing Americans. Nothing better.

  • many british bands have vowed america

  • Yes, we (America) are just returning the favor (Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, James Brown, etc...)

  • pink floyd the beatles led zeppilin rolling stones the kinks the who the jam etc to name a few all british

  • As i was clearly pointing out, where do you think all of those Brit bands recieved their schooling? American artists, baby!

  • i very much doubt tht soft lad

  • Ha-ha, soft lad, you obviously don't know much about the history of popular music. You're 20, there's still time to research.

  • you may be older not wiser

  • Hmm, what a novel comeback. You're younger and clueless.

  • your older and should no better than to react from comments from a so called 'clueless' 19 year old

  • It's "you're" not "your" and "know" not "no". Idiot, ha-ha-ha. Thanks for proving my point, cupcake.

  • sorry my spelling does not meet your high and experience requirements but i have what is known as dyslexia, or have you not discovered what that is in america. And you dotn need to advise me on spelling as we invented the lingo over 'ere matey

  • HA-ha, invented it. You're obviously doing such a great job with the language you so-called invented. Don't bash American education until you can spell correctly yourself. I really don't care about your sob story, he-he. Now go away.

  • What a retard, ever heard of the Beatles? And ENGLAND invented ENGLISH, besides everyone in America speaks Spanish now anyways.

  • Are you nuts? I'm not even American and I know that they speak better than the English; its sad how the English cant even speak their own language

  • Yes, dickfer, I've heard of them. Since you obviously didn't read my other posts, you missed the point. The Beatles were inspired by AMERICAN artists. Do some research, limey. We don't all speak Spanish here, you misinformed assclown. Go eat some fish 'n' chips, toffee-teeth.

  • LOL, I'm born and raised in Southern California and I still live near Redlands, CA. People like you make me feel ashamed to be American, you're the American version of a chav.

  • You should feel ashamed anyway with that attitude. Southern Cal, huh? That explains your slow information processing, numbnuts. Funny how you try to use UK slang, how amusing. Anglophile? Hmm...I rest my case. Go have a cupcake, jack-hole.

  • LOL, don't be angry cause you live in nowhere, middle America. Go tip a cow and vote for McCain or Obama or whoever your favorite TV show tells you to.

  • Ha-ha, you inbred, i'm from the east coast. God you tofu eaters make me laugh. Sad, little Anglophile stuck in Cali. Heh-heh.

  • Hope you're enjoying Jew York City, and horrible weather. There's a reason everybody wants to move to Cali, not "New England" or whatever. And you don't have to live in a nation to like its customs and culture. Fucking yankees.

  • Who's from Jew York, Mr. anti-semite? Are we assuming again? Pity. As for the weather, numbnuts, it's presently 83 degrees and awesome. If you little Cali's think you're the shit, it's because you ARE shit. We love it here and could care less about you shallow, dull west coasters, ya' dig? Pathetic Limey wannabe. Ha-ha.

  • LOL go do....whatever there is to do at the East Coast. And yeah, I'm anti-"semite" cause they stole the Palestinians land. They ain't even Jewish, they're fucking Khazars. Anyways, that's a lesson for another video. Kindly fuck off you Peter Griffin fat bastard.

  • Yes, i'll do plenty here in the great East coast, peppermint. At least i know what a closed-minded racist i'm dealing with. Hmm, it explains a lot. As for the Jew/Palestinians, that land is for them to devide up. Not my problem. Don't even know why your dumb-ass brought it up, jeez. Obviously you people on the west coast have plenty of tv to watch, Mr. Family Guy. Pathetic types. Now, go scratch. Oh, and "ain't" isn't a word, dicknose.

  • lol i do love stiring arguments with sad 'much older' people like you

    tra for now

    what a waster

  • Yes, it's even more amusing with some pathetic, young punk who can't read or write. Fucking dyslexic tosser.

  • All this talk of getting old

It's getting me down my love

Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown

    This time I'm comin' down

keep it stum me old mucker

  • Yes, matey. Give up and go pound the benson. Take care, bender.

  • You have not heard of the verve then

a so called 'fan of music' lol

  • Oh yeah, weren't they big like 10 years ago? Cute little annoying song, that "Bittersweet shit". I'm a fan of REAL music, you know, the stuff that will last. LOL.

  • Rock died in the USA during 60s, after that its all Britain, dont forget Knopfler

  • Perhaps you've heard of Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, New York Dolls, The Ramones, Talking Heads, REM etc... All of those acts were huge in the 70's and 80's, and some beyond, and YES, they were rock. Get it straight, please.

  • half of those bands are from the Britain, The Ramones is punk and not really rock and roll

  • Uhh, dummy, you better double check that. Those bands are from the US. Reed, NY Dolls, Talking Heads and The Ramones are from NY. REM are from Athens, Georgia. Iggy is from Michigan. As for The Ramones, yes they were punk...PUNK ROCK that is. Key word being rock.

  • OK there were a couple of "last gasps", but you can't really compare that to PF, Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Zeppelin and the list continues forever.

  • Ha, hardly last gasps. The list doesn't fade there. Your limited music knowledge obviously doesn't know the great American influences through out the decades. As for comparing to Floyd and Crimson, these bands were all influenced by American artists. Iggy and Reed are still selling out concert arenas. Most of the Brit acts are half dead and not performing anymore.

  • yes the ramones were an influential group but they were about as punk as a nursing home. the sex pistols got arrested after playing god save the queen on a boat on the thames during the queens jubilee, sid vicious was a fucked up junkie who had a whore for a girlfriend, johnny rotten got stabbed by teddy boys. basically they raged against the monarchy. while they were singing about abortion, the ramones sang about how fun it was to sniff glue that and the sex pistols used more than 3 chords

  • Well, if you knew what i was originally saying, you'd understand. I was talking about US artists influencing UK artists, AND the Pistols WERE influenced by The Ramones. Pay attention.

  • yeah but im not talking about influences. im talking on the completely unrelated tangent that the sex pistols made the ramones look like a bunch of pussies. (gives finger) pay attention to that you patronising dolt

  • You inbred, AS I SAID before, my original arguement with another poster, was over who influenced who. It seems you and jimdoesitwell didn't make the effort to read the above comments. As for the Pistols making the Ramones look like pussies, that's very amusing and is obviously your pathetic opinion. If you're gonna rip my arguments, at least know what the point of the argument was before. So stick your 'patronising dolt' up there.

  • do you listen to yourself talk. your some sad ass 34 year old arguing with a 19 year old. i dont give a fuck about ur opinion i was stating my own. anyway someone like you who feels the need to consistently belittle people must be a sad low person. you are arent you. really

  • You should spell check, little 19. It's spelled "you're" NOT "your". You're old enough to know the difference, aren't you? As for me arguing with a teenager, last time i checked, 19 is an adult. Therefore, we are 2 adults insulting each other. If you're going to jump in on my postings, you'd better stick to the point i was making, jackass. Sounds like you have some growing up to do. This is fun, though!

  • 70's: aerosmith, kiss, new york dolls, the stooges, ramones, lynard skynard, free, dead boys,

80: guns and roses, megadeth, dead kennedies, fear ect.

  • its a bit dumb to claim an entire genre and all its sub-sections died out in an entire continent for 4 decades, but if this is turning into a UK v USA argument, UK wins hands down for innovation, entertainment and consistent and diverse quality. brettwbeyer14 may have listed some pretty decent bands, but do any of them live up to pink floyd or led zep? and what about the 90's? RHCP & REM isnt enough to beat radiohead, blur, the verve, the manics and oasis im afraid

  • Well, jim, that's your opinion. Blur and Oasis and the like put many rock fans to sleep. Besides, my original point was who ORIGINALLY influenced who in rock music. Obviously the US did the job.

  • i would agree that the UK has produced better bands, judas priest, the clash, sabbath, motorhead. but they each influence each other. it seems that the US begins to innovate a new genre every decade than the british come over and blow it wide open. now i definitely disagree with your statement about the US in the nineties not holding up. have you ever heard of pearl jam, soundgarden, alice in chains or nirvana? not to mention stp, black crows, collective soul, red hot chilli peppers?

  • if your gonna use a word as vile as faggot, at least spell it properly.

  • I wasn't talking about a bundle of twigs which it FAGGOT. I do believe FAGGIT is the proper spelling. I have nothing against gays, I've just have always enjoyed using faggit since I was a kid. You should appologioze smithhedghog to any bundle of twigs you may have offended.

  • ha ha :-) you're absolutely right... thanks for calling me up on that one; and i apologise sincerely to the twigs that i caused great offence to.

  • si!

  • scottish actually

  • The Beta Band wow everyone.

  • My guess is it's a weekend, when yuppieish people tend to go out "slumming" to record stores and consignment shops and whatnot. The crowd looks pretty yuppieish and there's that part of the scene where Jack Black is taking advantage of the yuppie to sell him stuff so his collection will be "cool".

On the weekdays the store only gets the unemployed/malcontent/emo shoppers.

  • maybe that would be the case if championship vinyl store actually existed and wasn't fabricated solely for the filming of this movie. but maybe that was there schedule of shoppers in the fiction world of high fidelity

  • Duh. The "it's a fictional movie" comment has to be one of the dumbest comments people make on here. Gee, can we state anything MORE obvious?

No shit Sherlock, it's entirely possible that more people shopped during the middle of the week in High Fidelity world. But since good movies employ suspension of disbelief so viewers won't say "aw that's bullshit", it's more plausible to view this scene as occurring on the weekend.

That's when more people shop in record stores in the real world.

  • i think the store is empty almost through the entire movie because the majority of the scenes involve them having some spare time to talk. this scene involved selling the ep, so obviously rob did that when the store had more people in it.
