  • Another thing is that the dificulty that the pacient has in controling the hand can be overcomed quicker with the help of computer software.

The goal is pass the patient, somehow, the information that he activated some nerve, that is implied in the control of the hand. Then, with time, the brain will learn to control properly those channels and streams and do complex conscious movements.

  • It's interesting. The concept is so so simple.. Even in amputees who still have their forearm with muscle, prostetic mechanical hands could be fixated to bones and be activated mechanicly by the muscles, if they are still there.

  • will he point.. the finger?

  • or just call the hand guy luke skywalker go to fix his hand. DO IT NOW. ask Darth vader if you dont think it's good. and if you email me, i can give you the number of a good penis guy ;)

  • italians are the best ;D

  • Don't be surprise if that hands grabs a girl's !@#$%^&

  • 1:59 tri prsta lol

  • When machines take over our world..it will be your fault...

  • @Bikolon Hahaha What a common sense you have :P

  • @Bikolon as long as we don't programme (is this the right verb?) them to do bad things, there's no problem.

  • left arm!

  • can't wait for cyborgs exist

  • Automail is becoming real!!!

  • I never asked for this.

  • What about sending signals back to his nerves like heat, touch etc.?

  • @Patrik97BEAST Maybe when it's cheap enough to make - they can just get a new hand if it gets burned or destroyed! :-P

  • @Patrik97BEAST i saw another vid on someone else where they added other stuff he was able to feel the tips of his fingers when gripping hard. first thing first a working robotic hand would be amazing for people who have lost limbs. only a few million on the project..... nations around the world should be giving billions for this research.

  • Hah. The beginning to inspector gadget.

  • 2:18 training to steal clown noses

  • @chluaid lol

  • 0:45 i thought she is writing penis xD

  • @pokeyoshi3 lame...

  • he never asked for this

    oh man im so original

  • doc oc?

  • 1:41 come on.. come on... raise the middle finger RAISE IT !!

  • now flip off the other robots

  • Lol, I'm looking at my left hand ... and as a matter of fact the last time I saw this video my left hand was working ... now I can't control half of it due to an accident, its strange how attentive I was this time. At least my hand is still in place.

  • terminator o.o it will come!! xD

  • thumbs up if you moved your hands around

  • To the guys commenting on the redundancy of which hand he's attempting to control:

has it ever occurred to you that the hand was in development long before Pierpaolo showed up? People don't simply finish 3 million dollar projects over night.

  • NO WONDER it was so fucking hard to move, this guy is trying to move a robotic RIGHT hand with his LEFT arm and mind muscles.. stupid scientists

  • why do they build the hand right handed? maybe that's the problem...

  • is it so funny to make such a stupid comments ppl?

  • now make a tail xD

  • The future of cyber-sexing, robo-handys!

  • the problem is if he can carry it all day long

  • did he kept the hand??

  • @karelmoredo naw, he shoved it up his tight anus

  • Comment removed

  • Angelic layer is coming!!!!!!

  • Cool, but now they have to make the hand much more powerful to RULE THE WORLD MUAHAHAHAHAH!!!

  • he lost his left hand, but they built him a right hand...

  • OMFG!!! A 30 SECOND AD!!!

  • Sooo now he has two right hands...

  • What about the people that cant afford that stuff?

  • @StingAirsoft They could, someday. Technology always starts as expensive and unreliable, but over time computational power for dollar increases, helping to improve both these aspects.

What's a today's million dollar prosthesis will be a twenty thousand dollars prosthesis in ten years.

  • They forgot to mention the funding from Tai Yong Medical.

  • Are voice overs what Kermit the Frog is reduced to after The Muppet Show?

  • @spinbubba haha was just gonna say that was Kermit

  • So, he lost his left hand, and the prosthetic he was working on was a right hand...

Better than two left feet, I guess.

  • TERMINATOR

  • I'm just curious as to how the body does not reject this augmentation...

  • Dues Ex

  • Did anyone else notice that they made the robotic arm Right-handed when he lost his left?

  • @extist43 Ironic.

  • @extist43 I'm sure he'll be...

    *puts on sunglasses*

    "All-Right"

    YYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH

  • @extist43 maybe they decided two right hands would be better

  • @extist43 That hand's not yet for him... He is now at the level of helping scientists improve this technology - and for his time & efforts being "the guinea pig" - he's being guaranteed a finished product upon time.

  • @extist43 its because thats not for him, it clearly says that its just a project that he was able to partake in b/c of the fact that he lost a hand

  • @extist43 Now he can masturbate with both hands

  • @Sannypowa

really? really? somone's for arm got hacked off, and your making jokes like that? jeez, what has society been reduced to?

  • @Raptorman0205 Irony is irony, don' t take it serious dude

  • @Sannypowa

could add "JK" to prove that ;)

  • anakin skywalker be damned

  • I thought scientists were actually working on growing back the body parts instead of making these robotic arms. Like the man who grew back his finger tip

  • @melekatik they can't do both? scientists are more than one entity.

  • Incredible, what a break through!!

  • I think they should create a left hand for him! not right hand...

  • so could u have an extra limb? like 3th hand etc ?

  • this is just SO AMAZING!!!

  • terminator!!!

  • funded by the EU so they can create a super-race of Robotic humanohodes .lol.

  • not to sound like a dick.. but he was missing left hand right? but the robot hand was a right hand? or? O.o

  • ARGH fanboy mode: cant believe automails from FMA would be available in the some what near future

  • see? this isn't far of at all! may the lame walk again. for science!!!

  • robocop number2

  • this is a great innovation n i just pray that reseaches like these must go on... but the thing is that... it must get cheaper so that most of the people could be helped from these kinda project... and these researches must not stay within reaseacher's room...

  • why 2 right hands :S

  • @kniti27x

Hah, I noticed that too.. how much harder it must be to accomodate left hand thoughts to right hand implant? I'm glad it's happening, to be honest. Gives chance to a lot of people that suffered in accidents. If I lost a limb, I'd sign up for any project like that just to help with the progress.

  • @Panczekolada Why would it be? Take stereo speakers for example, If the speakers are physical in reverse position (and for whatever reason you cant swap them, like in case of robotic arm being right handed and patient you can experiment with lost his left hand), all you have to do is flip the wires. I'm pretty sure a similar concept is at work here (as in, either there are wires for each finger, or if the signal is compound, just mirror image it before sending it to the arm).

  • @msungo777

Well.. it's not about mechanics. Of course you can adapt left hand nerves to right hand. I might be wrong, but if he had to stay calm, focus and imagine self moving the hand, it would be much easier if it was left one. I am pretty much sure that his progress would be better if he actually saw left robo-hand moving as he tried to move his left hand. I know I would. Easier to accomodate in one's mind, I think.

  • EDWARD ELRIC!

  • they made a right hand for his left arm...

  • @taquenos That's beside the point, it wasn't a replacement. It was just a test. But I see your point. Funny.

  • putting our human awareness and consciousness into things that would not be living, or part of us on their own, is so cool! I think we are very clever.

  • I love it

  • Am i the only one here that has seen the movie surrogates?

  • @crazyforcod I saw it

  • @crazyforcod i saw it too..

  • this is straight from terminator or starwars

  • @shuszzam Play the video game Deus EX or at least watch the trailers. These robotic arms are a marvel, their should be a law requested by the U.N that these arms have to be reasonably priced so everyone who needs them can afford them. Obviously they need to make a profit but only a limited profit.

  • I'm wondering.... Would this be considered as some kind of form of telekinesis? o.o

  • @Matrix803 By it's very definition, no... cuz we can explain the movement of the robotic hand via science.

More leniently, you could consider telekinesis as the movement of an object using only will power as a recognizable medium for effort. In this case, the movement itself is achieved via electricity, and the information is transmitted through your nerves as a medium.

Telekinesis is describing an unidentified capacity to move objects; this is not telekinesis, just really cool science.

  • luke skywalker has one of these

  • Wow ! I thought a brain controlled substance can never be invented i felt it was impossible like time machine. Now I want to study the whole process

  • @omkar415star the time machine is theorized to be impossible because of physical laws... the idea that the existence of hands is physically impossible is... well... just think about it for a minute :P When was the last time you heard about a naturally occurring time machine? Never (obviously, at least nothing real), now the last time you heard about a naturally occurring HAND. Still impressive, but not mind boggling.

  • Guess he needed some praxis points before he could use his hand augmentation.

  • anakin skywalker =D

  • i want one

  • Even though he lost his hand, he still has the part of his brain and all those neurons that would control his hand. It's simply a matter of somehow connecting the robotic hand to the part of his brain that used to control his former real hand.

  • Better practice with a hot-dog first or you'll rip your dick off.

  • @JoshuaRelapse way to rip off family guy..

  • @JoshuaRelapse I hope you never have to experience the loss of a limb... just your worthless reproductive organs, so that the world doesn't have the suffer more idiocy from your ilk.

  • @JoshuaRelapse Mortal Combat FAPality?

  • @JoshuaRelapse

    stolen from family guy ;)

  • @JoshuaRelapse I'M SMASHING THE THUMBS UP BUTTON

  • @JoshuaRelapse

    family guy much

  • @pofrani

It was a test though...they're going to give him a left hand.

  • Cleveland on narration?

  • Thanks for your volunteering Petruziello

  • HE IS ITALIAN.

  • narrated by: Kermit the frog

  • i can control my peniswith my mind.. so what? ..

  • @Deathbringer99699 with a bionamical hand u can control ur penis with ur mind

  • He never asked for this

  • @mani75961 no his father did

  • Deus ex human revolution in the making.

  • he is italian, DEFINETELY not brazilian

  • @WTHWTFWTB I agree I'm italian too ;)

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • "The 3 million dollar project was funded by the European union", but NOOOO WE WANT TO HAVE WAR

  • It's hard to be green.

  • Deus ex anyone?

  • @Persason yep

  • It'd be funny if he made a fuck you

  • Oh come on, you got to be real haters to dislike this video!

  • Laaaagg at 0:40 ^_^

  • thats sad

  • hello deus ex

  • ok so...

    he has his right hand

and hes controlling a robotic right hand...

my god those guys are geniuses!

  • The Frank Oz voiceover killed it for me...

  • this shouldn't be mind boggling.. our body functions with brain waves, and with a wave everyone knows the things that can be done are countless. Its just that what limits us is not knowing how to pick up those waves or just not knowing enough "math" to manipulate those waves. Its just a matter of time. "May science bless us all" lol

  • Why does he have two right hands?

  • I think this is a fake. I mean not the project itself (though it`s also possible), but the movement in the video. Reason? Very simple - the man lost his LEFT hand, but the robotic hand he is moving is... the RIGHT hand. I doubt that scientists would use right hand replacement to act like left hand replacement))

  • he misses his left hand the robots righthanded,, just pointing out

  • Skynet is coming O_O

  • Deus Ex-Revolution begin

  • and then someone comes and hacks your arm xD

  • When will the time come when people will forsake healthy limbs for stronger robotic ones?

  • CYBORGS ARE COMING!!!

  • @VictumRoManius I saw this, I'm christian, I liked, therefore it wasn't christians but athiests afraid that christians will use these to clobber them.

  • @VictumRoManius We believe in sience too.

  • My government borrows 300 million a week, they produce 0 sceintificly desighned robotic arms a week. Thumb this up!

  • @iamjacobnz why the fuck would I thumb that up?

  • cool

  • He must be a Jedi, 'cause he's moving things with his mind....

  • CC ???????

  • is it bluetooth enabled?

  • One of the most beautiful things I've seen. The concept that those who have lost parts of themselves can soon be as they were or a simulation of what they once were is just breath taking.

  • uhm - that robotic hand is a right hand... he lost his left hand.

  • @pofrani I can only imagine his frustration when they implant right hand instead of left.

  • @pofrani yhea, fail hauhauaha

  • @pofrani I think it was just a test model to see if he could actually use it

  • its probably a question of time in 25-30 years losing an arm or a leg being paralysed and loose youre eyes wont be such a big deal^^ technologys wonder !

  • full metal alchemist :D

  • he can be a killer guitar shredder only using his mind. damn i want to amputate my hand now.

  • WW3 MAN OR THE BORG VERSUS MAN , NOCHANCE OF MAN WINNINGTHIS ONE REMEMBER TERMINATOR 2AND 3

  • Can't believe that they've yet to invent a prototype substitute of a hand that could actually exceed "natural" physiological standarts in weight, power and autonomy. Of course, full specter of tactile sensations would and should be a lot more tricky, but only the control of the 15 joints that correspond to their natural counterparts? Anatomy is on the level of neuro-surgeries, not to mention mechanical sciences, so why isn't just one single viable hand possible?

  • got here because of deus ex... :)))

  • Anyone noticed that the artificial hand was a right hand and he said he lost a left hand.

  • world became into deus ex

  • A hand that could be controlled by a man mind..,, ghehe

  • ohhhhhhh but thats impossibru!!!!!!!!!!

  • Setting us up for the Borg.

  • @abaneyone you are right, in the future if you are not a borg or dont have electro mechanical augmentation then you dont belong to a civilised society you are just a disposable savage i dont think those types will be allowed to exist side by side with their suprior augies

  • I never asked for this.

  • We need bionic tails...

  • viisiten a @lalovrutz!
