  • I am soo glad to see another CH cat that is in a loving home! Good for you for choosing to do so! I also have a Ch cat, he can not walk at all, he is some what worse then your kitty, but he is so loving and sweet! Keep up the good work and ignore the bad comments on here, they just dont have a heart!

  • @PierreDeChat inbred yanks....right because that makes sense.

  • @PierreDeChat People like you shouldn't be allowed to procreate.

  • Errm...did you say you would reward her with a "Dorito"? something that is considered quite unhealthy to cats besides chocolate?

  • If I had a CH cat I'd probably end up carrying it everywhere. Good for you for at least helping your cat move around on its own.

  • awww she's so cute. pretty eyes too!

  • My kitten Timmy also has CH, and although he doesn't have it as bad as your cat does, he can't take more than a few steps without flopping over. Regardless, he's a sweet, playful one-year old now, and he's been such a blessing to our family. Some of my extended family members are annoyed with us because they think he is suffering - if only they would spend some time with him, they would know that he is just like any other cat. It's great to see your kitty "as happy as can be." :)

  • My cat looks identical but has a less severe condition that started with an ear infection.

  • My Sway kitty had to be euthanized because as he tried to right himself he held his legs at an awkward angle & caused him to have difficulty with bowel movements. He contracted severe anal prolapse. He was so young that the surgery would have been a temporary fix and would require further surgeries as he grew. Monthly surgeries would cause him much pain over a year plus. He brought great happiness to all of us while he was here. I have his video on my account.

  • @sofuggit I have two videos. One when we didn't know what was wrong with him; he was very small. The other after I had researched and realized what he had.

  • ...I want a dorito for walking across the living room too! D:

  • She is sweet. It is so good of you to give her love and care and not give up on her with her condition. Since most are overall healthy, does the CH alone decrease their life span or can they live a long time with it. Aww, I think I can hear her purr in the video. Sweet!! :)

  • bring it closer her face :(

  • @lostwriter87 You can't do that, no matter how much you want to. They have to learn to live with their struggles and the more you encourage them the more they learn to adapt. At least that's how it works when they are younger. At a certain point they get to their best and it doesn't get any better. I never made it too easy on my kitty. He had to learn to adjust. It's a lot of work for them but they need that. :)

  • i can hear her purring ^^ looks like shes in good hands.

  • I get so angry when I see these videos. Stop being selfish owners, your only thinking about what would make you feel better. Think about the poor cat, this is no life for them. They may be alive and well even with this condition but most of them eventually suffer other painful complications because of this condition. Why force a cat to live a short and painful life? Even though it's sad to put a pet to sleep, many times it's the right thing to do for the animal's sake.

  • @xSakuranokaorix obviously you don't know anything about this. they don't feel any discomfort, they don't know that anything is wrong with them, and they are very happy cats. i have a CH cat, and she is the most playful lovable cat. she also happens to be a tiffany like this one. CH cats love life. i applaud the owner for not giving up, and giving this cat a great life. it is more work. would you put down a handicapped child just because they couldn't get around well?

  • @xSakuranokaorix That's not true. I had a kitten born here that had this. He was happy and healthy and brought a great deal of joy to me and my kids... and everyone else that met him. He was precious. This doesn't require euthanasia. Unfortunately my kitten DID contract a complication from the CH. As he tried to balance he arched his legs unnaturally. It caused him to have anal prolapse. After waiting it out the vet realized (as did I) that it was more painful each week. Then we euthanized.

  • She's gorgeous.

  • Wow she/he is so beautiful! (; Shes sooo fluffffyyy

  • My kitty-cat, Squishy, has this too. She gets very frustrated at times, but I love her as if she is my child.

  • awwww :( you're cat is lovely though :)

  • and a scam link in the video.... disgusting

  • Have you ever thought of getting her a kitty cart? CH kitties with severe cases can sometimes benefit from being able walk around upright every now and then.

:) She's beautiful, and is obviously very loved. :)

  • Bless her little heart!!! Benatar has her own way of walking! What special girl she is!x

  • She is beautiful. You are obviously caring for her very well and give her lots of love but this really was hard to watch because I kept wishing you'd help her with the chip. It probably isn't the best representation of your relationship.

What amazing eyes she has too! Please give her a scritch for me.

  • @foolmoon42 The point is to mentor the cat to walk. Vets say overtime it could get better, but not if you help the cat with EVERYTHING. I have a cat named Squishy who is only 1 1/2 years old and has CH & she manages well on her own.

  • this isnt nice its so MEAN! why would you put it just out of his reach you BIG. FAT. JERK.

  • @CosmeticTurban Actually, shes not being mean. It is very healthy to mentor a cat with this condition on how to walk better. What shes doing is helping the cat, so get it right.

  • shes happy, purring :P made me happy to hear the cat purr

  • Benatar gets around just like my 8-month old kitten Wobbles!

@lizzifer5499, I built Wobbles a simple wood litter box that fits over a cookie sheet full of litter. It's about 2 inches high, with an edge he can pull himself over, and then it's got a path with two little walls to lean against. He can end up leaning sideways, but won't end up laying on his side. He goes out the other end from where he enters, so he almost never gets dirty. We have only had to wash him once this month.

  • My cat has CH and she use to try to play but hers is really severe and she doesnt even want to try anymore. I make her walk to her food and she can only get around when theres carpet because she pulls herself around with her claws. The worst part is trying to make her use a liter box or anything like one because she only ends up falling over and then i have to give her a bath which does not make her happy

  • @lizzifer5499 Yeah, its difficult. We just moved and the house we moved to has all wooden floors, no carpet. Its sad, but actually my cat got used to it. She rubs her head on the floor now & walks on it fine. I had to give her a bath today though, its sad to see her struggle to get out. We also had to buy a smaller litter box because she couldn't climb up into the other one to use it. Shes like my little baby though.

  • OMFFFFFFFFF GIVE POOR CAT THE CHIP. GOD DAMN. CHATTING OVER YOUR DEJECTED CAT SINCE 2009. WTF

  • @qwixkillz Calm down. Its healthy to make them walk more often.

  • Finally, the first video I've seen with carpeted floor. My CH cat does well on carpet but on slick floor all 4 legs go out in 4 directions, She is much smarter than my normal cats and has a winning personality - very sweet, rules the house, sleeps in my bed at night or on self-heated mat on floor beside my bed. Hope I will see some other videos with carpeting next time I go to this site!!!!

  • What good is a cat that can't catch a mouse?

  • @njnut17 Just because they have a disability, doesn't make them horrible pets. Maybe if you kept your home clean, you wouldn't have a mouse problem. :)

  • oh the poor kitty i wana cry so bad cause she cant do much of anything

  • I have a CH cat too; he has a moderate case. No, a wheelchair or walker would not help Benatar, probably, and it might make it even harder for her to move. Cats with CH are not suffering -- it doesn't hurt and they don't know any different way to live. As long as they have a soft surface to fall on and support in a litter box, they're good.

  • So adorable. <3

  • oooooohhhhhhh i love her eyes they are so pretty!!!! Shes gorgeous

  • This is so difficult to watch. :/ I just want to give her a wheelchair!

  • awww, i have a CH kitty too, not quite as bad as yours.. she's pretty cool. your cat is adorable, i love her!

  • 4:00 YES!!!!!!! my kitty Piddles has CH too, but his is VERY MILD. Check out my video!

  • can you perhaps try to give her a walker that supports her weight?

  • @micolo123 i think cerebellar has something to do with her nerves so the walker wouldnt help

  • I love the CH kitties. They are so sweet and loving! Bless you for giving such a sweet girl a wonderful home.

  • she is so beautiful.!!! i would love a cat like that.

  • this actually made me tear up a bit. i have a balance disorder so this kind of thing is hard to see

  • Aww she is adorable. She seems happy, as well ^_^ all purrs and rubbing on you. Very cute cat.

  • I love that cat, she is absolutly adorable!!!!

  • I have a cat who came down with CH when she was around 4 y/o in 2004. I keep her in a clothes basket (I call her my "basket case" cat.) with a foam pad & a pet blanket. She's happier in there because she feels safe. I carry her to her litter box thats in a wooden caddy that enables her to use it easier. I still have to put her in & take her out though.

  • @jfw657 Hi, just wanted to comment, a cat cannot "come down" with cerebellar hypoplasia. They are born with it, it's a birth defect. If you'd like to discuss this, please contact me. Thanks :)

  • Your kitty is so beautiful :)

  • No she isn't in any pain. She is very healthy aside from the not being able to walk

  • OMG i cryed

    this is soo sad!

    do they suffer ?

  • i love your cat! what a good kitty!!!

  • You folks who give care and love to these little guys are to be commended! I find the cats with CH or RH to be the best cats around! My next kitten will be one with either of these afflictions. Thanks for sharing your video !

  • Benatar needs a skateboard,,, he can lie on top and pull himself around :)

  • There is a group for ch kitty owners on yahoo. I have found it helpful. With the whole litter box thing some people use cookie sheets.

  • Hi there. My vet doesn't know if my cat is CH or had nerve damage. He's gotten worse over the years. I have to express him twice daily cause he no longer knows when he has to urinate. He's the sweetest cat ever. He also has really violent nightmares/dreams in his sleep where he's slashing about. Does yours?

  • @happyyosemitesammy really? how can i find this? i have a CH cat too and some tricks would be nice....

  • I have the same thing as littlegreystar. First symptoms day before yesterday, he was diagnosed yesterday..

He is able to go in his litter box, however, this morning I catched him trying to get in but failing. I did not aid him immeadiatly as I want him to learn from his disorder; he did not soil himself (yet).

the question I have too, will he keep dragging his leg (he has only one leg affected) behind him or will he learn to walk the 'Charley' way? What are your experiences?

  • My cat was just diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia. He scoots along using his front legs to propel him along while his back legs drag behind him.He is having trouble using his litter box.I got him a larger box (a dog litter box) with a small lip,but he still goes to the bathroom on the newspaper next to the box, and in doing so soiling himself.I wash him every time and when I know he needs to use his box I hold him up in it (when I do this he uses the box)Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

  • I rescued an 8 week old feral that couldn't use his hing legs. I cut out the bottom of a t-shirt and slung it under his hips and walked him around like a puppet...letting him put more and more weight on his legs.. He eventually could walk but would fall down occasionally, or on turns. His problem was from a broken back and nerve damage. He wasn't a CH. His main problem was that he didn't know he could use his legs. Apparently, his back was broken, pre-ambulatory.
