what power you get? and did the plug into the diognostic plug to map it? the reason i ask is i dont have the diognostic connector as ive got the engine in a ax, and ive ordered some ph3s
And gav, you can improve the idle slightly by adjusting the cams but it is definatly going to require a remap with that much modifying for it to run correctly and produce best power.
I fitted new standard hydraulic cam followers but standard valves and pistons. Ph3's are fine to use with standard valves etc but some higher lift cams require different pistons to be fitted so the valves have enough valve to piston clearance. I would check the cams are definatly ph3's (should be stamped on the end the pulley bolts on) and if they are i would say something have been done incorrectly when they were fitted.
when u got them fitted did you need anyother parts like valves or lifters? coz i went to get my newmans PH3 cams fitted but they had trouble turning the crank?
ive got kent pk50t cams and jp4 bigvalve head in my vts there tooo lumpy, hardly idles at all ans stalls alot, am i right in saying you can make it less lumpy without a remap by ajusting the cams??

Does it smoke quite alot mate with it unmapped? cause my VTS that i got sounds like that, ive replaced coil pack spark plugs etc and nothing, though when u drive along its fine
Im thinking it could also of had cams put in but with no remap.
It feels like it pulls much better high revs in low gears but once in a higher gear (4th/5th) it doesnt seem that much different to standard. But that could be because i also changed my gearbox for a 1.4 xsi one which used a lower final drive ratio.
Its still unmapped now have covered about 300 miles in it unmapped has only cut out once and that was pulling up to a set of traffic lights.
Doesn't actually sound that bad un-mapped, how long did you keep it un-mapped? Was there any difference in power from the cams unmapped from the standard power?
And engine is lumpy because the fueling has not yet been adjusted or cams set up. Thats why the title is "unmapped" it is to demonstrate how they run before any adjustment is carried out.
Yep, dont use it very often tho.

Nope didnt smoke at all, it is possible but they do quite often idle lumpy standard if one of the sensors isnt quite right.
I Never got it mapped in the end, sold the cams etc of seperatley and sold the car.

thats the idle you have now cams do that i wudnt of thought a map would change it like, or did it?

Correct, 264.
