I saw them a few days ago in Chatalet station. Brilliant. It stopped my in my tracks. The acoustics really suit the deep vocal harmonies. Wish I bought the CD
Well at the end of the movie you see that there is a crowd watching... But I know this corridor in Chatelet Station, this is one of the most busy corridor in one of the busiest station in a city of grumpy people (I know, I've been a parisian for 30 years!)... But you can figure out yourselves that beggars won't beg there if nobody cared... they're here to make a living!
I'm really surprised at how the crowd just seemingly ignores them. If that had been me, I would have stopped to dance, and left some some cash for that performance. Then again, the french ignore everyone...
It's not "the french", it's the parisian. We parisian are known throughout all France (and the world) to be angry, grumpy, always-in-bad-mood people.
And true, in the subway, when people are not shoving each over, they're usually ignoring everything, including the many beggars and musicians you can find at many corners and in many trains.
So if you try to stop and dance at this crossroad at station Chatelet, the central subway station, you'll probably be seen as a jackass and shoved around by the people going by who just wants to get the fuck out that crowded station as fast as possible.
And yet, sometimes people do gather to listen (not dance) to bands (and I've already find myself very late and having to make my way through the crowd, and it's not very pleasant)
The name of the song is 'Chervona Rozha Troyaka' which basically means '3 red roses.'
The song is about a woman that has an alcoholic husband who comes home and beats her, so she threatens to leave him with the kids and run off by herself 'za dunai' or 'beyond the Danube.'
I believe I have a CD they were selling when I was there. If I can find it I'll let you know their names!

They are "Les Musiciens De Lviv"; I do not know the name of the song, because it is not included in the CD "Cabaret Slave".
