  • You are right on the money and I am dissappointed in Giulliani's answer because it shows you exactly what he thinks when it comes to Blacks in America.

  • Wow! I can't agree more the whole Black=Welfare thing, was uncalled for!

BTW great question! I have noticed that most of my friends do vote democrat, while they consider me the typical white person since I vote Republican, oh well maybe next time around the parties will actually cross these racial lines that seem to have been drwan and I am hoping that Huckabee runs next time and gets Everyones support!

  • I hope that you would recognize that CNN and the Democratic National Committee acted in collusion for the CNN Democratic debate.

Who decided that Kucinich and Dodd would get less air time? The Republicans? What did Hillary say to Edwards after the debate?

For evidence just look at the 6 inch thick stack of notes that each democrat candidate had and the canned responses. How is it a debate if the participants have foreknowledge of the questions and have prepared responses?

  • Go Mike Huckabee in 2012!!!!!!!!!!

  • I liked Huckabee and I used to be a black Democrat. I'm still black. I was impressed with how he responded to the youtube question why blacks don't vote republican. He said I would ask for their vote. I read that he got 48% of the black vote when he ran for governor in Arkansas. Hmmmmm, John McCain should think about that.

  • Your bad ass David! I love it!

  • it is an old straight rich white man's party. I thought that was standard?

  • ne. Ideally Blacks would vote ~50/50 R/D. And to make that happen either Dems would have to fuckup royally with regard to American race relations or Reps would have to acknowledge problems that disproportionately affect Blacks and work aggressively to solve them

  • Initially, the GOP had the black vote. When FDR banned racial discrimination in the WWII effort, the Dems received some of the black vote. When the Civil rights act was signed (even though more Reps in the Senate and House supported it than Dems), the Dems received more of the Black vote. When Reagan passed acts undermining the Civil Rights Act, (not to mention his economics' deleterious effects) Dems received the rest of the Black vote. But Dems aren't the champions of racial equality we imagi

  • Professor East:), youre great.

Thanks for educating me. I wanna thank you in representitive, because I owe large part o' my knowledge to americans.

Thank you, again and sincerely lemme announce:

    RON PAUL 2008!!!!!

My fellow Americans, the world's watching.

    Keep that in mind.

    (end message)

  • Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate I've seen that is attracting black American voters. His campaign seems to be open to EVERY American---not just the Republicans.

  • The Grand Old Party needs to evolve into an equal opportunity party. They need to work hard to redeem themselves from the image George Bush Jr. has given them. The GOP numbers will shrink if they only represent white, middle-class/wealthy Americans because America is slowly becoming a racially diverse nation.

  • Unfortunatly, the Republican Party has represented them for 50 years.

  • When I watch the Republican National Convention every 4 years, I see approximately:

    1 black person.

    2 hispanics.

    0 Asians.

  • @MishuTaste

    hahahahaha

  • Why even ask them anything. Politicians are lying sacks of shit. Do you like listening to lies in your ears? I don't

  • Agree with everything except the last part. People come in all shapes, colors, and sizes, I really don't care what anyone looks like. Its the content of their character that I'm more concerned with.

  • You talk so much sense

  • Man, you goin' places !

  • congradulations on them picking you.

  • I second Vagabondloafer's sentiments!

  • Nicely done. Most reasoned exploration of the racial lines of the two parties that I've heard this year.

    Success to you, David.

  • I know how to make more black people trust the GOP. Two steps.

    First, be trustworthy.

Second, don't try to make people of any particular skin color like you. Treat everyone the same.

That's why Ron Paul is popular among a lot of black voters. He doesn't treat black people differently, and you can take him at his word. The formula is not hard ... well, for non-politicians anyway. For politicians, it can be extremely difficult.

  • I don't doubt Huckabee's sincerity, but he goes way overboard. His nonsense at the black debate about being "embarassed" and basically saying that the knock on the GOP as being racist was not only justified, but that it was further perpetrated by people not showing up to a debate by BET? Utter rubbish. And Huckabee knows it is rubbish. He is a big-time panderer.

  • A better question would be why African Americans continue to vote democrat. Maybe because if they decide to identify as Republican many in their own community call them 'uncle toms' or even make videos mocking them calling them blind black republicans sound familiar?

  • A better question would be why African Americans continue to vote democrat?

Answer: They do not trust the Republicans. It was answered in the video.

  • There is no reason for that. Only stereo types that go along with being republican that usually are estblished by the left and are untrue. I know a few black republicans and for the life of me I can't see how the the black community has benefitted under democratic loyalty over decades of the past.

  • Plenty of reasons. I'm not sure you want to acknowledge them or not. Few examples: Willie Horton adds, Fox News continually calling Obama a muslim (one of many ridiculous stories), 1:05 Guiliani answers a question about blacks by injecting welfare in it, continually blaming the left for Blacks not liking the republican party...just a tip of the iceburg. I can't for the life of me see how you think blacks are so naive enough to think the republican party has their best interest at heart.

  • I'm sure there are few sincere republicans like Huckabee, Chuck Hagel. Rest of them like AM Talk radio, Rush types...use Blacks as well as other groups to divide.

  • Good response.... But I'm interested in why you brought up gay marriage in your question. Do you think its OK for Republicans to court black voters by appealing to another form of discrimination?

  • good response to the not so good responses

  • damn ok that was well put youtube guy. but either way i say if you agree on the stuff and eduction isn't that alot better then a democrat former president trying to Legalize weed? and Really don't take it so serious about welfare and blacks don't start building up Conspiracy over it, just Vote and try it.

  • Well said. Only thing is I dont see much difference between Guilianis idiotic verbal association between blacks and welfare and the Democrat promises of additional funding for minorities. Both parties are stupid in this and so many ways, but luring voters goes both ways - the GOP wants to be more than an old white mans party, and black voters as a group must be open to their reaching out or no amount of reaching will help, and each group will sadly revert back to its stereotype of the other.

  • Republicans don't really have to change their tune until millions of AfricanAmericans de-register themselves from the Democratic Party. There really is no incentive right now for moderate republicans to step up as long as 95% of the Black vote continues go the democrats even though the Democrats continue to be a totally ineffective & useless vehicle for any meaningful social change.

  • Ithought you were very accurate with your assessment of the debates. If Ron Paul would break away from the party and declare himself an Independent, more blacks and others, like myself would vote for him. If he stays with the Repubs, he, unfortunately, will get squashed. Do you agree?

  • Hey bro, ut totally right. When i heard guiliani say that, i thought it was so stupid to equate the two cuz it's not a black issue, it's a poor issue and poverty doesn't discriminate towards colour.

  • you are so right about the trust issue. And I couldn't believe rudy's response. I was angrered that he brought up welfare.

  • Well, for me, I've always had an extreme fear of clowns, so that's who I'm nervous about seeing in a dark alley!

    : )

  • Nicely put man, great job!

  • This was an excellent response to the debate. I agree that Huckabee is the most sincere of the bunch.

  • I think it's a vicious circle-since blacks just don't like the Republican party they will stick with the Democrats even when Dems take them for granted & as long as blacks are overwhelmingly for the Dems no matter what, the Repubs aren't going to be willing to truly reach out to them. Like in so many areas of politics it seems like everyone ends up losing because of decades long problems.

  • I don't have a candidate that I truly like or feel like I could vote for at this moment, but Huckabee does seem to be a bit more honest, and even able to laugh at himself- I hate any politician that takes themselves too seriously, because that's usually a sign that they think they are better than the voters.

  • Oh, Huckabee's fine, except for the part where he fails to grasp the concept of seperation of curch and state

  • Hey,

Well spoken. As a white republican, I certainly sympathize from your viewpoint, though I don't profess to know exactly what it is like. It is refreshing to hear rational thinking.

  • What you really mean is, it's "refreshing to hear rational thinking [from a black person]" and "As a white republican, I certainly [don't understand] your viewpoint".

    Well said!

  • Now that was funny!

    Ron Paul 2008!

  • Hey both parties don't care about you equally. They both improved the black person's status by giving them NCLB. Now blacks and whites get a equal shot a Third World education. Now that we have gunfire in the suburbs, all's fair that ends fair. I am hoping for malaria next.

  • I've been around a few times and I've heard it all - and not just once. It is one thing to say what the candidate is going to do and what gets actually done. Don't get snowed. We are at disadvantage when we "interact" with politicians. Look what this present administration did to the budget and our nation's peace with the Muslin world, not to mention the economies of the average citizens,

considering what was promised and what was delivered. you will hear what you want to hear, but...

  • This is the smartest video you've ever made.

  • when did blacks start trusting the democratic party? weren't they the ones filibustering the civil rights acts? publicans just think people should have an equal footing so that poor white people like me don't get the shaft from some upper middle-class african americans, and because all people are equal. pretty simple.

  • I trust

    Ron Paul

  • Blacks need to vote for Ron Paul, if you want freedom. We will all be slaves to the big banks, money & debt. It won't matter soon what color you are. You'll either be poor or one of the elite. Watch your dollar, it's collapsing.

  • He wants to make a constitutional amendment to ban abortion. That doesn't sound like freedom of choice to me...

  • Subalpine602 You can also look at it from the point of view of giving the child a chance to live. At least he's looking out for the weakest and most despised group of human beings, a child too young to speak up for their own rights to live. Plus he makes a good point, if someone kills an unborn child in an act such as drunk driving, they would be charged with murder. I think if we had respect for the life of a child, America might start to respect the lives of the minority here in America.

  • Ok so hes pro-choice, but overturning Roe v. Wade is not the answer.

against welfair, Medicare, state paid universal health care, for complete free trade with no restrictions and for gun rights. You know, the more I read about the guy the more hes just seems like a goldwater conservative, which is still conservative bullshit.

  • I respect your opinions. I personally don't think all those things are negative. If we look for a solution to get out of this war, the people of America would have more money and wouldn't have to depend on the government so much. I understand some of the issues sound crazy. There were times when I needed government help, but believe me, it would be so much better if we changed our foreign policy and focused on strengthening the poor in our nation that have to rely on the government so much.

  • A: the government's job is to make sure that the principles of the american people, and the acts that will benifit them, are carried out. To say that it is purley to enforce the constituition, as Paul does, is silly, and the fathers would have agreed. In this case, the gov needs to halt the viciuous cycle of poverty and the abusive health care companies. These corporations MUST be abusive and evil to survive in biussness, so they should not be involved with taking care of our welfare.

  • War on drugs = government power

    gun control = government power

    homeland security = government power

    welfare state = government power

We rely on the government so much to the point where we are nullifying the constitution.

  • See what I say above this.

  • We can't complain when things are fair, we need to shrink the power of government in our personal lives. I agree with Ron Paul on these issues. I am not a republican and I don't even consider myself a democrat anymore, I think we need to make dramatic changes for the good of the people. I'm willing to try. I don't like guns but you have to admit, people have a right to defend themselves.

  • When is it ever "fair" for children to suffer poor or no medical quality, or closed off opportunities? Is it simply fair because of the choices their parents made in years past? I agree with you in that we must make dramatic changes, but we need progress, not just going back to how things use to be with less government then can support the growing country.

And, you'd call semi-automatic rifles protection?

  • I'm sorry I mis-typed there. I meant to say we can't complain when things ARN'T fair. I'm really sorry about that. By no means are things fair today. As far as guns, Ron Paul makes since when he said that pilots should be allowed to carry guns, at least they could have tried to prevent a 9-11, yet terrorist with box cutters took over the plane.

  • Why can't things be fair? I agree that things aren't right now, but humans are the ones that decide such, and as the most powerful nation in existence it'd be easier for us, and all people if we tried to make this world a fair place, I agree government control on peoples life is shitty, but Ron Paul does not have new ideas, he has old recycled ones.

  • We also need to improve our edgamacasion system. Let me try this one more time. AREN'T fair. lol

    :)

  • Yes, we need progress, but that's what I'm hoping for with Ron Paul, at least it's a step in the right direction, I think. It's sounds to me like he wants to get the government off our backs and out of this war so we can begin to make life better here for everyone. I'll tell you right now, if he didn't mean a better life for all races, children, the poor, everyone... then I would not vote for him.

  • I know it sounds scary, but we have to start somewhere. Not only do I believe the war in Iraq is a mess, we need to cut back spending somewhere so we can afford to improve our lives here at home. Government hand-outs are not the solution. The more the government is involved in our personal lives, the more separated and frustrated we become. If you have a better solution on how to address all these issues, let me know.

  • *AHEM* that is not true everywhere, and should not be true. The fetus is alive, yes, and is a potential human, yes. But an ant is also alive. And the mother, who is already a human, her rights outweigh that of the fetus.

  • (pt.1) AHEM, and so are brain cells. An ant, how cute. squish, j/k, but on a serious note, first of all I'm not everywhere, I live in America, but this is not an easy decision. I couldn't imagine what Ron Paul had to go through as a doctor. He must have dealt with life and death more often then the average bear. This is difficult, like I said but personally I would choose life.

  • See? Brian cells are alive, but we kill them all the time (I mean, I hardly have any left, haha). No, abortion is not an easy decision, it is a mistake when anyone thinks it is. But, in the end, I think it is a) a personal chioce. and b) the mother is a full person, while the fetus is not. These are the two things that have most influenced my conclusion.

  • ((weirdoveirdo)) You're funny! I'm with you, and trying to preserve what brain cells I have left. I totally respect your opinions and if you have personal beliefs that you hold dear, stand up for them.

  • pt.2 to ((weirdoveirdo))I on the other hand still think that Ron Paul is the best choice and today is Dec. 16, I just dropped a money bomb for my fellow American's because I think his message suits the majority, but you can't fault me for trying to convince you right! Got to love America. God bless my friend, thanks for hearing why i like the guy! Ron Paul 2008! :)

  • I'm a Kucinich man myself. Best record of any canidate in the race for standing up for what's right, regardless of the cost on any level. Look him up! Elect the little guy in '08!

  • wierdovedo (pt.2) If it is the life of the mother that is at stake, that is a different circumstance, so I still agree with Ron Paul, it should be decided at the state level. I think you will agree, most abortions are not because the mother is in danger. Every person I know who had an abortion felt the child was an inconvenience. I've always felt in my heart it was just inhumane.

  • Most abortions are not because the mother is in direct danger, you are right. But if you say abortion is inhumane or murder, then how is OK sometimes? What it all comes down to is who has rights, and who's rights count more. That sounds bad, but it is the basic choice we all have to make for this subject. My view is if you don't want an abortion, don't have one. And it is not always about the mother. Sometimes, even often, there is something wrong with the fetus.

  • Idiot

The dollar isn't collapsing; It's just in a downturn. Currencies go up and down. If anything, the dollar's back gone up slightly in the last 2 days after tumbling all summer. Check the CNBC Web site and you'll see.

  • I think NewsInColor probably is right here.

But why not ask who Asians, Latinos, pacific islanders or some other race vote for?Republican and Democratic candidates speak to consistent voters, and that means (regardless of race) old people and campaign contributors. The folks running for office preach to a greying choir ... until voters prove otherwise. Race probably isn't as important as it once was.

  • Know the really sad thing about this? Black Americans vote for liberal Democrats in part because the Democrats take our tax money and pour it into handouts, which degrades blacks, brings them down and KEEPS their standard of living down, strips them of their self-respect, and makes them think that society owes them financial gain. The black people I know don't want 'gimmes'. They want JOBS. They want to work and pay their own way. You won't get that from the idiot liberals.

  • Are you saying "liberal idiots" prevent black people from getting jobs? Exactly who is forcing Black Americans to accept these 'handouts'? Last time I checked if you wanted to you could go out and get a job, how are liberals preventing that? You sound very one sided and ignorant to me. If the black people you know dont want handouts and want jobs, nothing is stopping them. By the way black people aren't the only ones who accept 'handouts'.

  • I'm saying liberal idiots tax the life out of the middle class, then set up welfare programs and give our tax money away, sometimes to people who need it, and sometimes to just anyone who wants it and 'qualifies'. That's how they buy votes. But it degrades people who don't want freebies, they want jobs so they can pay their own way in life. The liberals are the ones who only see one side of an issue...theirs.

  • this is Tiger Woods cousin this is Tiger Hood

  • The reason why he brought the subject to welfare is because blacks make up 12% percent of the US population, but they make up 37% of the welfare population.

  • In New York blacks account for 25% of the population and initially accounted for 47% of the welfare population. Giuliani became mayor of New York in 1994, and by 1998, the percent blacks on welfare went down to 33%. Giuliani realizes that the welfare system is a big problem for blacks, which is why he associated them with welfare.

  • I just got done watching Rudy's responce to you. I didn't bother to watch what Huck had to say as I'm taking a break from politics today. I will make the statement thought that it seems Rudy wanted to pass the blame off on the African American community. 'You should vote for us because we are more attractive, so it's your fault because you're ignorant'. That kind of thing.

  • Huckabee's state used the death penalty like he was doing some sort of religous purge of God's undesirables. Some Christian he is.

  • Pancakekiller, I don't see a picture of you anywhere. Can't you come up with anything intellectually interesting or challenging to say? You are a dumb ass.

  • "A lot of black people don't trust the GOP."

Vice versa, I'm sure. But you should look at each candidate, rather than the party.

  • I agree, you should look at the individual, their voting record, and what experience they have.

I wonder why it is that black americans have so much trust in the Democrats, when they have done nothing for them. Maybe the distrust should be given to all politicians, and as you say, vote for the individual, not the party.

  • Here's something we don't think about much. From 1868 until 1932 black people voted over 90% Republican! It was with the introduction of the New Deal that many black people switched to the Democrats, and with civil rights legislation they migrated en masse. So, it's not like it couldn't happen again, although it doesn't look likely any time soon.

  • From 1868 to 1932 the Republican party was aligned with the left wasn't it? Most of the Democrats were in the KKK as well. That is what I have heard... not sure if it is correct.

  • Sort of--the Democratic party controlled the South, which had Jim Crow (segregation) laws. But in the 1960s there was a split with the passage of the Civil Rights bill and Voting Rights Act, which worked to end a lot of that discrimination and split the Southern vote from the Democrats.

So to make a long storm short, the African-American vote has been fairly consistently against whichever party currently counts racist Southerners as strong supporters.

  • ah, ok. Thank you.

  • You are correct.

  • The "left" as we think of it today is mostly a product of Europe in the 1930s and America in the 1960s. But, 100 years ago the Republican party was the party of blacks, secularists, suffragettes, and big business, while the Democratic party was its opposite. The KKK was almost exclusively Democrat. Today it's all switched except big business. Shows you what really matters, eh?

  • FDR basically switched the two parties positions. Before him, the Republicans were the leftists and the people's party! And, of course, the dems were the conservatives. But no one is trying to do anything like that right now.

  • Exactly--although the Republicans were still more pro-business in the 1920s (look at Calvin Coolidge, pro-business Republican, versus the liberal Progressive Party candidate Robert La Follette, who split liberals off from the Democrats [not so much the GOP] and got 16% of the vote). What turned many African Americans on to the Republicans was Abraham Lincoln and the radical Republicans of the 1860s, who were very much for Reconstruction.

  • Anywho, now the Dems are Nixon-style republicans, and the republicans are just plain loony.

  • The Dems are nothing like Nixon, and they most certainly are not like JFK. The Dems have been taken over by the extremely left, move-on dot org. crowd. One of the most important speeches JFK made he stated, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for you country." The current Demorcrats do not have that mentality. And it was the Democrats who tried to stop the civil rights act of 1964.

  • Nice job pointing out that random and VERY problematic equation!

  • Wow. You are the man. After I watched your video, I called my dad in and I watched your question and your video again. Now I'm really glad that the fact that I'm a Beatles fan drove me to subscribe after your "Election '08 and The Beates" video. Do you write for any publications? If not, you definitely should. If so, I'd like to subscribe to that as well.

  • David, that was really great seeing your video on the big screen of the debate- on national television!!!

    :D

    Congratulations!

  • Congrats on getting the question asked. The days that Democrats can take Black votes for granted may be coming to an end. I agree that only Huckabee really answered the question though. Ron Paul later got a chance to slip in the fact that his base of support is pretty diverse as well. The Romney and Giuliani responses were typically Republican -- "if blacks had a better education they would fit in the mainstream of American society and vote Republican."

  • great response to the responses. solid analysis.

  • Moral of the story: Get the hell outta America before it's too late.

  • although i am republican i did agree w/what you said about rudy..it is funny how his response totally drifted in that direction..good points!

  • Good answer David. I agree that Huckabee had the best answer last night, and I find it amazing that he got such a large percentage of the African American vote in Arkanasas. That says something, and I also believe he is sincere. I don't think he is one of those economic Republicans who only cares about their $ and could care less about minorities.

  • By the way, why does the school comment not bother you ,but the welfare one does. Rich and middle class black people don't have a problem getting in good schools either, moron. Last I checked they go to the good schools with the white kids. He was obviously talking about the blacks below the poverty line. But , of course , that's easy to see when you're not a Dem. plant.....

  • excellent points

  • Thanks for video! I agree Huckabee did the best in responding to this gentlemans question.

  • I cringed when Guiliani did the welfare thing... look getting people off welfare is great... equating welfare to African Americans is not.

Also what Huckabee said about paying more than October lip service really was important. Going to all Americans and selling your ideas as something everyone can embrace is absolutely essential for anybody running in an election.

  • I can find about half a dozen things to disagree with you, David. But overall--and that's what's probably more important--you're right on the mark!

  • Well said. They have been voting Democrat since the 60's , and the Dems have done absolutely nothing to improve the poverty rate, schools, etc. That is not a trust issue, that is ignorance.

  • How much better is the black community for its 90 percent support of the Democrat party? School choice? Lower taxes? Decreased black on black crime? Lower AIDS rates? What specifically did Bill Clinton do? What do you get for your 90 percent support of the Democrats?

  • Why don't you just support a candidate that supports your views on issues instead of asking them to tailor their campaign towards a specific race?

  • Oh shut up, it's not about tailoring a campaign to a specific race. There are many different issues that a candidate can have an opinion on, and a strategy on how to deal with the issue.

African Americans education, amongst other issues in the African American community, is just one of those issues...like the Iraq war, health care, immigration laws, etc. Every candidate has a stance on each of these issues--not an entire campaign tailored to a certain "race".

  • Hey David! Just subscribed. Good commentary. Love the humor in some of your other vids. Keep up the good work!

  • Wonderful points you made. I am curious as to why more people don't vote Independant. They seem to go for broke and tell it like it is more than feed a line we want to hear? Is it that they can't get the message out to enough people?

  • Man that pisses me off, why the hell do people think the only choice they have is either Democrat or Republican? They both suck, so just either don't vote or vote for an Independent candidate. Don't vote Communist or Facist, because that is what they will become if you give either party enough power.

  • Thats what I was saying... why not vote Independent. They IMHO represent a more realistic cross section of America. There is not one Repub/Dem that appeals to me. I will not vote for either party. Just like last election.

  • South Park asid it best. You can choose between a giant douche or a Turd sandwich.... Well America, I'm not taking a bite of either one.

  • Very stated man, thanks. I enjoy your 2 cents of perspective. You make me think. Excellent point about the Black=Welfare thing. Yeah, who asked about welfare?

  • whatdup david, Mike Huckabee and ron Paul that is who i will vote for. Gullaini and McCain and romney drift away from me. Good video man. keep it up.

  • Very good observation. I watched it too. Again the clown did not get on. Did 2 new questions, but alas, not to be. My local station interviewed me and put the clown on the news in Colorado Springs last night though. I felt that some of the questions chosen, while I was glad it was done, were not the best ones posted. Calmed down versions.

  • Excellent commentary, David! I agree that Mike Huckabee gave the best response. Do you think that he has what it takes to reunite this country and help us regain our footing?
