I have a question.I'm going to buy myself an iPad in November.And I wanna draw on this app too,so can I save the picture I draw and upload it to internet?
That has to be a layer erase, you can most defiantly see a hard line and soft shade appear at the same time with one swipe of the finger ( best example is 1min in, see that both the hair's outline and shading appear at same time )

I think the artist is just erasing a layer on top of a previous sketch. Its hard to believe that both hard edge and soft are put down at the same time. Look closely at some of the strokes and shading that are drawn. The first thing I caught was that the mouth AND the shadow underneath the lip were drawn at the same time. There are some really great art done on an iPad out there but I think this demo is needs further review.

Also, some poster mentioned that the app was pressure sensitive. While that may be true on drawing tablets, it is not true for this app on the iPad. At least not in my testing. It's not a good idea to press hard on an LCD screen in any case.

It's like writing. There are a lot of people who can write really well, but it's hard to find someone who can create a good ficional story.

I just tested the app and my conclusion is that it is not a fake. The app uses a complex algorithm to draw and erase. It is not a simple matter of the brush size and position but it takes into account: speed, shape of the stroke, nearby strokes, ....
I think that the app author should make a step by step tutorial on how to use the magic of the app, because I agree that this video is too much to be believed.
This isn't fake. I've got the iPhone version and it works exactly like is shown in the video. Thick lines are created by drawing slowly and thin by drawing quickly. The app also interprets what you're trying to draw and adds lines. It's real. Use the app and you'll see.

lol, I believe this person is using layers. It seems to me like the picture is already drawn in full and then a separate layer is placed over it . Using erase on the top layer to expose the preexisting image beneath. Well that's what it looks like to me, because I don't think there is a drawing program out yet on the ipad / iphone/ ipod that allows such control and precision with a big clumsy finger used as the drawing tool- no matter how good an artist may or may not be.

NOT fake. Livesketch is an amazing app, you have to try it. It shades in for you, depending on how much you're pressing down, and how hard. I tried it out.

lol, I believe this person is using layers. It seems to me like the picture is already drawn in full and then a separate layer is placed over it . Using erase on the top layer to expose the preexisting image beneath. Well that's what it looks like to me, because I don't think there is a drawing program out yet on the ipad / iphone/ ipod that allows such control and precision with a big clumsy finger used as the drawing tool- no matter how good an artist may or may not be.

i dont get people saying it's fake. i'd find it like impossible if some noob was there drawing this, But considering its ABe, i find it perfectly believeable or even close to normal considering WHO drew it. i mean, do these people even know the person drawing this is an spectacular artist? guess not. But ye, really impressive considering it's being drawn with a finger! personally i just love the style so that's a plus XDDDDDD

Does his ipad have touch sensitivity? Why do the lines have varying weight when he is just pressing with his fingers? I wanted to buy an ipad but did not get it because I thought it did not have touch sensitivity like a wacom tablet.

Its not fake, its called LiveSketch, its a really cool app, even if you don't have an iPhone it iPad, just go to iTunes and look it up. Its a very neat app!

Just look at 0:20 as the left eye just pop up from no where.
Look at 0:42 as the mouth appears in total magic addition to the upper and lower shadow... lol.
This is just 2 examples, you can easily find others.
This just looks like if the image was already there (or some lines, like a background pattern or whatever)...

No es que sea fake la aplicación, es fake el que esté dibujando, lo unico que esta haciendo es hacer aparecer una mask ya generada previamente, ese dibujo es imposible trazarlo con la yema del dedo, y os lo digo yo que soy dibujante y he dibujado con tabletas gráficas, se de que hablo.
