@acechris89 Actually I just remembered something. That twisted grin of his after he says "GO" is significant. He did it earlier when he threatened Nyugen in an earlier scene. It shows that he is lost and is now nothing but a killer.
@Grummsh00 I think I remember the scene; it was after he had to shoot down Jess from his section, right? I think I remember reading that all of the Area 88 pilots were outnumbered and Shin was essentially flying into a death-trap.
I guess what happened in Alam is what happened in Egypt. I know of the civel war and I don't mean that but the high command took controll over the king (Saki's uncle).
@lepepelepube the pilot in the ejection seat, earlier in the video, has shoot a parachute man... shin told him that it didn't deserve the rifles...
in this scene, just before the end.. when he runs out of ammo.. he probably regrets the spend ammo to killed the parachute man... seconds later his punishment it is completed... ;)
@mhtsakos Gotta love early anime, the animators and story writers really had the freedom to do what they wanted. It is also funny how one of the pilots died b/c he had a hook for a hand lol....

While going to the cafe some men attempt to rob him and Shin nearly beats them to death. At that point he realizes that he is a killer and can never go back to the life he had. There are at least three different endings for this series. This is definitely the darkest one.
What acherly happened? Did the rebles do a major offensive and attack the zone where Area 88 is? Was there a coup de'état againsted his uncle? Or did they get so well equipped by sucking up to the USSR that they overwhelmed them? It sounds a bit like the first too as Roundell was told to surrender and I doubt Saki's dad will go too far with his son. If there was a coup it may have been due to the last one a bit. Any thoughts anyone?
@TheGroundedAviator The mercenaries did astoundingly well for the Asran government, but the government lost on all other fronts (ie their regular forces). In the end there is nothing left except Area 88, and the rebels can afford to concentrate all their resources on them.
Saki's character is not heavily detailed in this version of the story, so him expecting to be killed for treason is not too far-fetched.

@LSKennedy78 Ha ha, I always joked that the MiG-21 pilot that killed Nyugen was the same one that shot down Shins F-8 Crusader and got away alive, I would like to think the Rebel Forces had its own Ace, ha ha ha. Hell, Nyugen was good shootin down parachuted pilots but this guy...this guy freakin shoots Nyugen down WHILST being ejected, now that's some skill.
I think there's still chance of surviving, though. If, Shin arrives before the mercenaries are completely barberqued, the mercenaries will probably get morale boost and might win. Remember that when Shin took off, you noticed that his Tigershark is fully armed.
should they ran out of ammo, they still can escape to the farthest area they can reach with their fuel. and they can eject and survive, unless they get the same fate as the Nguyen guy.
@everyone. It sucks that all of them end up dieing but at least they go down honorably. I have only seen this in VHS quality, this is a whole new experience!! Thanks for the video!
They fought to the end like true soldiers. But sadly i think Greg Gates, Saki Vashtar, MIckey Simon all died fighting the final battle. And i think Shin Met his end in Aslan.

He probably just felt like saying that out of feeling the urge to. After all, this version of Shin is PRONE to outbursts and such. Especially when angry or startled.
It took them over 20 long years for them to have this released in English. The English dub isn't so bad. But it's a good thing they included both English and Japanese into the two disk DVD release.
