I think this might be an escaped pet Cockatoo. The "voice" sounds the same as a cockatoo's and the fact that the noise came from a tree suggest this possibility to me. I was in a plant nursery once and heard that "hello", I couldn't work out what it was 'till I went to this shed and found an aviary in there.
