  • hey nice video. I'm doing the same with mine but came across a little problem. I hope you can help. I got 70mm bbk throttle body and egr spacer that is required up to 1993 mustang. so after taking the stock upper off I started putting the cobra upper on that has longer end where throttle body is going to sit. my question is, do I have to put the EGR plate on it or not?

  • @ray29291982 Nope.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource Thank you.

did you use the same stock TB on yours? or you put a bigger TB.

Mine steel doesn't fit now it doesn't clear the valve cover on TB spring on the bottom. is there any thing I can do to make it work?

    70mm TB, 75mm Mas air, 30LB Injectors.

  • @ray29291982 My TB was stock. It had no problem going back on. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  • Did you install a replica (lower) intake or the real thing? Would you recommend a replica if a Kenne Bell will be bolted to it one day? I'm planning to buy and start building an '88 GT this year, I can't wait to tear into it!

  • how many hours did it take?...and is your motor stock?...did you tell a difference in power?

  • @ROBBY639 Got it done in about 16 hours. 8 hours on each day of the weekend. The motor was all stock. The power difference was only noticeable at around 3500 RPM. But yes, it was a pretty good improvement. Don't know the exact numbers, but it's noticeable.

  • I was thinkin bout doin this to my f150 5.0.. and was just wondering about how much all that cost ya.

  • what sinsor is that you replaced in the back of the manifold found at 1.57 on the playing of the clip?...im trying to find a new one for my swap,,whats that called?

  • @crambone34 "PCV" or PCV Valve

  • for the stock throttle body...what bolts did you use? the stock ones are too long

  • @tdettmann11 Don't remember the exact bolt used. I went to Autozone and just began sizing some up until I found the right ones.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource thanks...yea i just went to a hardware store and found what i needed. thanks for the help. mine is now complete. just waiting on some spark plug wires and i get to test her out!!!

  • @tdettmann11 Cool. Good luck. I had to re-time mine due to moving the distributor. Are you planning on doing the same?

  • for the lower intake...what gaskets did you use? was it a kit you bought? looking to to do this but wanna get all the details first thanks

  • @tdettmann11 No problem. I just went to Autozone and purchased stock replacement gaskets. The gasket kit came with the curved blue ones that go at the front and rear as well. The only gaskets the intake kit comes with are for the throttle body, thermostat, and uppper/lower gasket. Hope this helps.

  • we gotta play some UMK3 and race some time ahhaha

  • @yourMKarcadesource hey, is the 5.0 cobra intake manifolds same as the gt-40? If not, would you know where i can acquire the gt-40's? Thanks

  • Ok thanks. I got another question if u dont mind. One of my headlight is lookin yellow. I want to fix it by buyin a new headlight assembly. I was lookin on a site and i guess i can just replace the lens. It it hard to do? I rather save money buy replacin the lens

  • Im bout to order that same manifold as well for my 1991 GT. I was also wanting to get the BBK 70 mm throttle body. Would everything work out fine and all fit right or would i have to make some adjustments..

  • @braulio581 In my opinion, it should work just fine. I believe these manifolds work with up to 75mm.

  • @braulio581 Yeah, that will work fine, but make sure you buy the EGR spacer for the throttle body and you'll be all set!

  • nice work on the installation of the upper and lower cobra intake looks like you went with the stock 60mm throttle body i would have opted for a 70mm or 65mm as the 93 cobra comes factory with a 65mm and gt 40 heads but you have the stock e7tes so it will workout just fine i am a fellow fox mustang man have owned 7 and love working on them!!

  • @svor1991 Thanks. This was my first attempt at major engine work. Went great. I was planning on replacing the throttle body at a later point, but ended up selling the car a few months after this video was made. I have had 4 fox's myself over the years. Got a 2009 GT/CS right now.

  • maaan... is there semething you CAN'T do ?! love your work!

  • whats that little black thing you stuck in the lower intake around 1:15 is that capping something off and what about that golden o2 looking plug around 1:58 Im looking for used intake right now to put on this summer like a cobra/edlebrok/ trick flow you get this one off ebay it looks so clean

  • @lionelnut69 1:15 is the PVC valve filter. 1:58 is the Engine Temp Coolant Sensor. Both can be purchased at your local Autozone.

  • Great job! Just doing this to my can and was wondering what you used to cap off the collant lines?

  • Seconds 46-54 what are the blue seals that are at the back of the distributor and the back of of the lower intake??? I am about to do this in my garage!

  • @77erman They come with the gasket kit that you need when replacing the lower intake. Seal the ends up good!

  • damn!! do you have any mods that are good for a daily driver its bone stock right now i just want to make it a little bit more fun to drive any ideas? i dont wanna drain my wallet just looking to do the basics...

  • @jasonmmafighter Rear end gears, Cam, Custom Tune are good starts.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource theres no reson to tune a old mustang theres no real ecu just intake and gears u will love it

  • @ASCmustang88 I mean "tune" in as much as you can replace a chip, set air/fuel mixture, timing adjustment, things like that.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource i need to do that to my 94 ever since the new exaust cold air new gears and ac/smog delet it runs a tiny bit rough so and i also did a tune up with ford racing wires cap and e3 spark plugs and when i say exahust im talking frome my new headers to the flow tips

  • awesome thanks for the tip!..my car is basically stock but after the cobra intake and bbk cold air intake will i feel noticible changes in power?

  • @jasonmmafighter Not under 3000 RPM or so. Every day driving won't really be noticeable. You are going to have to get on it to really notice the difference.

  • @jasonmmafighter Not under 3000 RPM or so. You will have to get on it to really notice the difference. With every day driving, it won't be that noticeable.

  • after installing the new intake do you have to re- time the car or is it as simple as removing the stock stuff and bolting on the new intake i have a 93 lx hatchback 5.0 and im doing this same exact set up..

  • @jasonmmafighter In order to remove and reinstall the lower intake, you have to turn the distributor to get the connector module out of the way. You'll see what I mean when you get to that point. You can mark it before you move it, but I would re-time it just in case.

  • what is that hole for on the manifold at 1:14?

  • @mxerboy123 PCV Breather and Valve.

  • MAN I Got a deal!!! gt40ps and gt 40 intake for only $200!!!! Best mod ever. That Cobra one looks so awesome though.

  • I wanted to ask you this...after you took the lower manifold out and you cleaned in between the heads where the oil and dirt was did you have to close off the intake ports to avoid dirt getting in there, and what did you use to clean the area? It was like night and day at around 47seconds

  • @bigpete405 I just wadded up some paper towels to put in the ports and used a portable vacuum to clean and suck out the crap. Then wiped it all down with some shop towels. Nothing too fancy. I REALLY wish I had changed out my valve covers when I did this.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource Thanks mike. Those black and silver valve covers that say cobra would compliment the look nicely.

  • Do you feel a nice difference for the stock manifolds to the cobra?

  • @bigpete405 There's definitely a difference. I'd have so say (without dyno confirmation) that it's 25-30Hp gain at least.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource thats good stuff for sure. Good job Mike. When I do the suspension on my car Ill make a slide show if I can manage.

  • @bigpete405 Cool. I just installed the custom tune from brenspeed on my 2009 and the difference is ridiculous. I got a 45rwhp gain and 40fpt just from a tune. The car is...a lot more fun now.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource Thats sick. You should be proud that you have two stangs. Espically the 5.0 they are a dime a dozen in crappy condition now and days I'm sure you know how that goes. Do you ever go to virgina race track VIR for open track events. My friends are hosting a mustang event memorial day weekend.

  • @bigpete405 No, never been. Sorry. but my local Mustang club is hosting a show that weekend and I have to help judge classes.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource Judge the fox bodys.

  • @bigpete405 Can't. I am not allowed to judge classes that I have an intimate knowledge of. That means no latemodel's or fox's. Don't ask me why.

  • @YourMKArcadeSource totally unfair. Read the most recent comment I posted on this video I have a question reguarding cleaning.

  • good job mike... you should've got #24 inj. and mas. to complete it.

im looking at doing this and this vid will guide me through it.

    thanks

  • what is the song what was playing on this ideo?

  • hope you have headers and full exhaust

  • nice job Mike. looks awesome

  • Nice job Mike, i love doing that kind of stuff. Looks great, now an even faster pony.

  • Nice
