@jaredontube master reset your iPhone or turn it off turn it back on. Master reset is hold the home and the lock button until you see the apple logo then release wait for it to start back up and should help fix it

Thanks you, it really helped me specially with having a broken mute button like you. I noticed that when I use this thing it also shuts the vibration off, not like the toggle I used to have with IOS 4 so I'm wondering if there is a way to mute the device and and at the same time make it vibrate too?

@weiderjubini7 you can download SBsettings. It will probably also download Activator which you need. Then once you have that installed, find the package Ringer/Silent Toggle. Install that and then you should be able to do it through the SBsettings drop down menu.

@mailove1000- go to cydia and download an addon called 'activator.'

You can set buttons and touch patterns to different commands. I broke my sleep button today and set it to sleep when i hit volume + and - together. Works great. You can also set re-boot commands when your phone starts getting slow.

@mailove1000 well...in that case i do not know if you can jailbreak your iPhone if you cannot turn it off. the procedure with Redsn0w is you have to update to iOS 5 then run Redsn0w and put your iPhone in DFU mode. Which you have to turn off your phone. hold power for 5 sec then power and home for 10 sec then release the power button and continue holding the home button for another 10 seconds or so....i will check around for a way around that.

@mailove1000 you don't need to be on ios5 for this to work. i do know another way if you're already jailbroken on a different firmware. but if you want ios5 then i'll post up a video when i can of how to jailbreak iOS 5 on iPhone 3gs. mind you, its tethered, meaning you turn off your phone, reset it, or battery dies you have to boot it up from the computer. not hard. just a pain. but also, just don't turn off your phone.

i installed it but under settings i can't view the ringerswitch, but if i double click it does show but it still is on loud when its in orientation mode....help ?

@mailove1000 I'm not understanding the question? So you jail broke your iPhone, installed the ringerswitchtool right? then go into settings and theres the ringer switch tool app. tap it. then switch the mode to orientation lock. n to ringer switch. remember this app is to change the actual SWITCH on your iPhone and so once you change it to orientation lock then double click the home button. slide to the left and the orientation lock button should now be a mute button. tap it and it should mute!
