what is wimax? wimax is slow, wimax is unreliable and unpredictable, and wimax is far too over priced for a network that has way less overhead than dsl cable. Dont get wimax unless you like slow speeds contracts and hours of frustration.

@Komjaunuolis10461 I use wimax and it has the same speed as normal dsl, and costs about the same. It is unreliable as it constantly looses connection, it has to be adjusted frequently to get the best signal, the speakers make noise when the modem is near it. It is only fast at certain times of the day when there are few users, and the location has to be important, as if u live in a 2nd floor instead of a 10th floor u will face problems,....however things may change in the future.

@Komjaunuolis10461 Yes, overpriced in comparison to wired connections, it should in fact be cheaper but its not, its either equal in costs monthly or more..it's also wireless, regardless of what companies say it's far less secure than wired connections, also the latency is def higher and the throughput can't compare.it also is more prone to errors or lost packets. you're totally ignorant or just some fan boy, do your research before you try and insult someone cus it makes you look retarded.

@raymix1 recently I seen this guy with a laptop sitting in a car in front of a house, and he hacked into the wi-fi modem and was using the internet as well as able to access the pc's in that house, with wireless technology such as wimax hackers can easily hack into the modem/servers and use the internet.

@mclarenf45 hi mclaren, WiFi (IEEE 802.11) is totaly different protocol, but the technology is similar. Wimax runs on IEEE 802.16 and is a midband thus similar to 3G networks.Whilst WiFi operates in 2.4Ghz with 20dbi 100mW transfer power, WiMax operates in as high frequencies as 11Ghz up to 66Ghz depending on layer setup and distance they want to cover. There is no software and hardware to reverse engineer WiMax at the moment,even so hacking tower would be ridiculous. Hope that clears it for you

@mclarenf45 and as for the guy hacking WiFis, there is no difference what is behind the router - be it DSL, cable, sattelite or any other broadband, it is WiFi network that is hacked and connected to LAN, nothing to do with WiMax at all my friend, nothing!
