The Turbo Boost is a really nice idea. However it does not really work like it could/should work. If you have a multi-core processor and you have a single thread application (= an application which uses just one core of the CPU) you don't get the full boost because the OS systems usually split the applications which needed to be processed to ALL cores and you only get the full speed if one (or more) cores are 'sleeping' (which will not really happen).

I forgot something: You only can use the turbo boost with a chipset by Intel and if the motherboard does support it. The not-so-good thing about that is that the Intel chipsets are too slow for USB 3.0 and SATA 6GBs.

Having such a processor is nice but does not really work with todays OS. If Intel manages it to publish a chipset that is fast enough for the new USB and SATA generation it could be a good processor but until then it's more like a waste of money... :-(

As far as I can recall, only the i3 is new in this list. i5 and i7 have been out, so it sounds like these chips are just getting updates. What happened to the supposedly i9 chip which is supposedly 6 cores? Did they push these chips back farther? Argh!

I really hope Apple uses these processors in the MacBook Pro refresh, So I could finally have a notebook to my awesome xeon computer. Even though my 8 core Mac Pro is not nehalem, it is very fast for a 2 year old computer.
