I'm surprised that some people speak out against trans fat bans because they don't want the government "policing what they eat."
Are those same people against governments mandating that white bread be enriched with vitamins and folic acid, even though those measures resulted in a dramatic decrease in birth defects and deficiency diseases?
I've heard that trans fats are the WORST food additive for one reason: As smart as our body's waste removal systems are, they cannot tell the difference between natural saturated fats and man-made created trans fats, so it will actually attempt to USE the trans-fats for your cell membranes, so some of your body's cells will actually become partially hydrogenated!
I have been learning about this recently. I started reading labels. I'm amazed at how many foods have partially hydogenated oil. Peanut butter, coffee creamer, childrens cereal, yahoo, margarine, doughnuts, pies, cookies, crackers, popcorn... On and on it goes. I threw out everything in my house that had it, then I went over to my dad's house and threw out everything there that had it.
yea be sure to get skippy natural peanut butter as it has 0 hydrogenated oils, also get international delight coffee creamer as opposed to coffee mate it is made with palm oil. Yea months ago I threw out all the stuff I had with trans fats and at first my wife got mad, then I explained it to her and she is trying to change too.
@ssimon64 Hey man I have some good news if you still dont have time to cook. KFC, Wendy's, and Papa Murpheys. Thats your fried chicken, burgers, and Pizza and they dont contain transfats!
FDA has a lee way on labeling. Just because a label says "0" trans fats does NOT mean it is so. Partially hydrogenated oils and Fully hydrogenated oils are what separates your drastic prices in Peanut butters. Read the labels.
Trans fats occur in the most UNEXPECTED foods, I found trans fat in cough drops, vitamins, chicken broth cubes, and even liquid protein (muscle milk). It is even in medicine, watch out!

@HealthRanger7 If you say the body will get RID of trans fats, does the clogging of the arteries clears up also? If not then is there even ANY way to unclog our arteries without surgery or medication?
Not a bad video, but May '08?. Newer videos should be made and seen. Frosting on cake? Not for me, thanks. Going after many other oils in cooking makes folks crazy if you don't clearly recommend alternatives that are easily available, practical and affordable.
Some people may think the government may be going too far in the name of health, but the truth is, those so-called food giants are not going far enough. This video also exposes more of the truth about the FDA. They allow companies to not list low amounts of trans fats in their so-called foods. How much poison needs to be listed in things American consumers consume. I believe any poison is bad and should be listed on labels. Choosing a healthy diet is one way of choosing a healthy live.
Hell, I stopped eating at fast food places that stopped serving trans fats. I wont buy anything that is made without trans fat. HFCS, I love that too.
i was just researching this again today to remind me of why i don't eat ANY of this crap. if your diet is high in transfats & low in polyunsaturates, you have 9 times the chance of developing alzheimers than someone who has a diet high in polyunsaturates & low in transfats. with these stats you'd wonder why it's allowed. corporate interests rule again, & ill health is big business in itself!
ps. good video, but why do i always feel as though american reporters are shouting at me haha, eg. 1:45
also i'd add that combining your synthetic transfats with high fructose corn/glucose-fructose syrup - you'd wonder how ANYONE in the western world is healthy!
nothing annoys me more than some company advertising their wonderful "healthy" breakfast bar/cereal/yoghurt etc, marketing it as something that will help you lose weight. as if eating a nutritionally void but blood sugar spiking processed substance is healthy, as long as it's packaged in small enough quantities to keep you skinny!
What they don't tell you is that the "vegetable" in hydrogenated vegetable oils is most likely soy. Soy is another poison they dump in your system, it has harmful affects on the thyroid, and is the closest thing in nature to estrogen. So remember that if you ever see your husband, son, or boyfriend crying over a lifetime movie, or buying skinny jeans and growing man boobs. It also causes pre mature puberty in children, and leads to cancer. The body best proceses animal fats.
@pensivethought Yes, you are right, canola oil is NOT healthy either! Please google search: breathing canola-oil
I made this video by combining clips from various news programs on this topic, but not ALL of the content was 100% on target. This can be quite difficult as most 'main stream' news programs don't tell you the complete truth!
Please check out the text section below the video for more information on healthier fats and oils.
Why is it that cake frosting have so much trans fat. I work in the super market, and that's like the only food that has a lot of it. Is there a way to make it WITHOUT trans fat?
@ECDT1089 Coconut oil could be a good substitute for use in cake frosting as coconut oil is solid at room temperature. Palm oil can also be a good alternative but watch out for GMO (genetically modified) palm oils!
This is really pathetic. I heard about this and I couldn't believe it. I'm extremely health conscious and I didn't even know trans fats could exist in our food without it being listed on the package. After hearing this, I wrote an article on my health blog that helps people identify which foods have trans fats. Tell me if it helps you! Here it is
And now natural oils majorly used is GMO. Go figure we are not allowed to eat anything natural and healthy anymore. It's called GENOCIDE!!!! Wake up America!
also, look out for "interesterification." it's hydrogenated oils mixed halfway with unsaturated plant oils. and if any of yall took organic chemistry, be aware that hydrogenation involves breaking carbon-carbon double bonds and adding hydrogen atoms.
If you want to estimate the amount of transfat is in the product, such as 8:32 use this equation that I made myself. Protien and carbs has 4 calories per gram, and fat 9 calories per gram. So total calories minus cal prom protien minus cals from carbs minus cals from fats other than trans fat and the whole thing divided by 9. So for the product in 8:32 it has 130(total cal)-27(cal from fat besides trans)-88(cal from carbs)-8(protien cal)=7 so the product has 7/9 grams of transfat per serving.
I'm 23, and I quit eating fast food and drinking soda when I was 18. I feel great and I have no regrets. I always check the ingredients on food labels, and I look to more trustworthy brands more and more often. Thank God we still have the right to choose what food we eat.
@speakerstereo You are smart.I did the same thing in my late teens and should have stuck with it, Now I am 26. The last few years I was eating way too much fast food and probably consumed lots of transfat. I am now educated on transfat and have given it up for life.
Remember, anything manipulated and made by man is bad... Organic good. Manipulation of our food chain for profit, especially to increase shelf life is bad for our health.
I article I read said that fast food uses Saturated fats to cook with. WRONG they use vegetable or polyunsaturated oils at high temps which become rancid and become transfats. So I have been hearing bad things about saturated fats that aren't true.
@macunicorn yup. not all saturated fats are bad. coconut oil (the unprocessed, unrefined, unbleached, and raw organic kind) are extremely healthy and beneficial for your health. but people tend to go ahead and taint ALL saturated oils as evil.
you can't afford non-trans fat food/healthy food? gotta be kidding me...potatoes and onions 50cents/lb, carrots less than $1/lb, butter 40cents a stick, eggs $2/ a dozen, rotisserie chicken $6/ a whole chicken, frozen vegetables-real cheap. Don't say you can't afford healthy food. People just choose to still eat crap food out of habit and miseducation/perception about healthy foods. People still pay $3 for less than half a pound of chips and $4 for sugar laden cereal.
Does anybody know how to actually detect a food that contains hidrogenated fats in the UK? I see lots of labeling on products "no hidrogenated fats or oils" but... are they actually being honest?
@vegannese A lot of supermarkets have caught on to the fact that hydrogenated oils are bad for the health of their customers, so they know longer add it to their own brands. Hence the label: "Contains no hydrogenated fats or oils"
Always check the ingredients label! Food products will contain trans fat if they include any of the following ingredients: (partially) hydrogenated oil or fat, shortening, margarine. If these are not listed, you should be ok.
don't be fooled everyone. alot of labels say no transfat but when you read the back of the label it will often have partially hydrogenated oils on the label. i think if it's under a have of gram they don't have to label it. peanut butter is bad a doing that. stick with natural or organic.
Legal Food Genocide! Im glad I went vegetarian. I wouldn't eat our animals anymore no telling what they feed them. I would have eaten animals maybe 100 years ago. Nowadays no way. It's too polluted and the food industry is corrupt.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If you hate trans fat so much, shut the fuck up and DONT BUY IT!!!
I love trans fat. I dont care how unhealthy it is. I makes food taste great. Im not gonna be eating any fake soy foods or any health foods. its my choice. Keep the government out of my food and my choice! its my freedom of choice! If you hate it so much, dont buy it,
You realize some of us cant help it lets say a kid that doesnt have a job, and his parents keep buying trans fat foods. I mean when i was younger I didnt have a job so I couldnt afford my own food even if i begged my mom to stop buying foods with trans fats she still did anyways. So not everyone can help to buy it.
@tatomuck18 I know this is a year old post, but oh well aye.
Why don't you take your own advise and shut the fuck up. If you like it and want to eat garbage and ruin the only real thing you have(your body and health) then go ahead.
I think most people want to be healthy and i don't see any reason why someone would not want to be. People shouldn't have to check every thing they buy for poisons.. seriously wtf.
If you want it go hydrogenate your own food not poison everyone else.
A year ago, I too was caught up in the global deception. I believed that eating "100% whole wheat" bread would improve my health. Some ingredients: sugar, glucose/fructose (this is how they label High Fructose Corn Syrup, in Canada), hydrogenated oils and mono and diglycerides...one loaf I looked at listed 21 ingredients! Here are the ingredients of the bread I buy now: Whole wheat flour, organic wheat flour, filtered water, sea salt and yeast. This is REAL bread!
@RandyBful1 Good for you ! I shy away from most breads because I can't find anything with those basic ingredients. HFCS is the main ingredient in most products, even after all my years as a vegan, I am still very surprised to see how we are being deceived and manipulated.
Are you familiar with Center for Consumer Freedom?
I buy my bread at either 'Choices' or 'Caper's Whole Foods'. It's basically whole wheat flour, water, sea salt and yeast. No additives, stabilisers, chemicals, sugars, oils or GMOs in this stuff. If you don't have these stores, just try to find bread with no more than 5 or 6 ingredients and definitely, no soy, corn, canola or cottonseed! Up to 21 ingredients in a loaf of bread is just INSANE! Is it any wonder that so many people are getting sick?
This is very important information to share! It is absolutely mind-boggling to realize how many folks are still are not aware of dangers from consuming (partially) hydrogenated oils.
U.S. cheese IS plastic! Take a bite of "processed modified cheese food" and then take a bite of real "aged cheddar cheese". They're not even on the same planet! BTW: CANOLA oil is a fraud! It is not good for you. It is POISON! It's GMO and saturated with pesticides! Do your research. The three most dangerous GMOs are CORN, SOY and CANOLA! I've eliminated them from my diet for over a year, now. That means, NO processed food and NO fast food.
if there is something I really like about USA, it is the focus on ingredients in what we eat. Although I did know trans fats were bad, I didn't know about aspartame for instance. Good videos about health.
LDL is low density lipoprotein. It's a lipoprotein, it's right there in the name. Lipoproteins carry other things around in the blood. They're like cars.
Calling LDL cholesterol is like calling a car a person.
Agreed. Blaming heart attacks on high serum cholesterol is like blaming firefighters for fires. When you see a fire, the firefighters just always happen to be there. The biggest reason we see such a high rate of heart problems in the USA is a combination of sedentary lifestyle and improper electrolyte balance(too much sodium, not enough potassium and calcium)
tell me if you know, i used to be able to eat meat when i was young, now it seem when i eat meat i get sick. even eggs. cheese i am fine with and fish also. i can eat anything else and feel fine. i eat lots of plant based foods.
Am I having amnesia! I think I'm forgetting in Kindergarten when they told me that 0 actually meant any number from 0 to 0.49!!! Okay, that's what the FDA and 100s of food companies learned, any they're smart...right?
I love how the FDA lies to us...they ban marijuana, something less harmful than alcohol, and allow trans fat, a carcinogen, heart disease causer, EXTREME obese causing agent... and they make it COMPLICATED AS HELL! If there is less than 0.5 grams of trans (including 0.49, I'm not kidding, companies can do that) they can say 0g of trans fat...now 0 is 0, not <0.5...you have to do the tedious ingredients check for Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, or Hydrolyzed Soybean PROTEIN!!!
You sure? My mom is an expert when it comes to food and food safety and she told me ANYTHING Hydrogenated or Hydrolyzed is basically the main ingredient to trans fat, giving it all the negative aspects...but then again she could be wrong, or I took Hydrogenated anything too seriously...
Im sure. it's still pretty bad for you though. =/ taken from wikipedia:
"Hydrolyzed vegetable protein, or HVP, is produced by boiling cereals or legumes, such as soy, corn, or wheat, in hydrochloric acid and then neutralizing the solution with sodium hydroxide. The acid hydrolyzes, or breaks down, the protein in vegetables into their component amino acids."
btw because its says 0 trans gram fat per SERVING on the label DOESNT MEAN IT ISNT IN THERE read the label like those mission crappy flour tourtias they have hydrogenation crap in it, i eat corn tortaias now carefull some noobs put hydrogenated in it
i dont eat this crap hydrogenation food no more i stopped over a year ago i have lost 40lbs. this crap kills us! sue the fda there dumb for allowing it.
Definitely eating strictly organic food, with nothing added in. I swear I'm going to have to become vegetarian, unless I can find a local butcher. Shall have to go shopping and see what I can do. Why are they not telling us at school, what is in our food? All they tell us to eat less than 1500 calories a day, but what good is that going to do to you, when people are ingesting low calorie but full of toxins meals?
Google "The Great Con-ola" article written by biochemist Mary Enig (one of the first to warn about trans-fats). All vegetable oils (corn, soy, canola, etc), which are found in most food products these days, are highly processed (and the process is disgusting). It's no wonder they're linked to cancer, especially breast cancer.
Guess we're learning the hard way to go back to natural fats -- organic butter, cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, etc.
we're consuming this stuff & it's almost impossible to get away from it. u find it in practically everything. our food is controlled by the system. nowadays, u find few people who grow everything they eat & have a well in their backyard. It's almost impossible not to be controlled by the system. even bread has been processed to some degree, to preserve its "freshness" all this foreign substance we intake, no wonder our brains get confused, enter..modern day mystery illnesses!
It's funny cause as I was growing up everyone was saying, "eat margerine not butter." Now look. Margerine is the worst thing you can put in your body. But I am used to it now, so I still buy it.
For the Australian's watching this vid...trans fatty acids are vary scarce in our food industry. Saturated fat is a much bigger problem due to the shear amount present in foods in comparison to tFA's. Other processes are used to create solid lipids, such as lipid fractionation / interesterification, and hydrogenation without tFA production. I would be suprised if most other countries aren't similar. Don't be lead by misinformation
Its getting easier for me to stop eating some of these foods, because alot of them have a chemical like taste or they are too sweet. I am old enough to remember old natural butter taste to cakes. I can;t eat the new stuff.
Trans-fats are no more damaging than animal fats. The term "trans" refers to the chemical structure of the long chain carbons. The carbon chains of animal fat look like this VVVVVVVV so when they group together they "link" making a bond that is difficult to break. Plant oils do not make these bonds but when they are hydrogenated to make them more solid they simulate the animal fat bonds. So if your worried about trans-fat you should not be eating any animal flesh either.
I've consumed probably less than 10 grams of non-animal derived trans fat over the past five years. Completely cut it out of my diet. It's horrible.
And, is it just me, or are half the posters on You Tube functionally illiterate? No one can spell, no one can put together a coherent sentence. These people are idiots. Maybe it's the trans fat...
You hit the metaphorical nail on the head. There are plenty of uneducated illiterate morons who try to type out legible sentences. I think a Chimp would probably succeed and far quicker....
@dellitoso It seems to be more CULTural than environmental though that is a contributing factor. Orwell said it 2+2=5 to most of these people. Ignorance is strength, goofy thug life is cool
Might makes right & to show emotion is to appear weak. The strict parent ego model is in control & that bitch mother earth better shut up or she'll get something to cry about
I posit: Empathy for others engages emotions & a reason to apply the imagination to solve the problem & bring relief. More or less
lmao...this is crap...if it's dangerous...don't put it in your, our food...no1 even informed me about this so wtf...however..is this only bad if you are overweight because im am definitely overwieght..i could almost float but..cholesterol isn't bad if your aren't fat in the first place right? right?
It is actually very easy to lose weight NATURALLY without diet, pills or gimmicks!
Avoid all artificial sweeteners, flavor enhancers and (partially) hydrogenated oils/fats (trans fats) as they are the main causes of obesity.
Stop using microwaves as they destroy up to 97% of the nutrition and vitamins in your food.
Read the book 'Fit for Life' by Harvey Diamond. This book will transform your life, in fact you'll never have to get on a diet again for the rest of your life!
Could somebody give me a simple word or words for when they say "HYDROGENATION". What does it means in simple terms. Is it when soybean oil is cooked to a certain temperature it's no good?
In Germany, we have a private Organisation; Food Watch. They are testing Food. Trans Fats was found by a great number of fast food chains. After Food Watch found out, they started a big campagne. And the Trans Fat´s are gone. You only have not to buy this crap and tell them why. Only than, they may change the Fat. To say NO to a product is a very big Weapon.
products dont need 2 B banned, just the truth be known& alternatives aren't SUPPRESSED! Its time 2 wake up. I just did. We R all SLAVES. our masters, the elite, R at least 50 years ahead of us in knowledge, technology, information, secrets & are using all of it AGAINST US! Have CRITICAL THINKING. When will Humanity start FIGHTING 4 freedom &2 make this world BETTER? What u believe &what is Truth are 2 different things! Believe almost nothing-Question EVERYTHING!
oh but the new world order isnt real! ha ha. when will the sheeple wake up? well when they are full of this crap its no suprise people are walking around in a daze
Good this gets banned. I smoke and I drink, if I do that too much I will get in trouble. Very few ppl nowadays don't know this fat is dangerous. If they eat too much...
I may not be the healthiest but use olive oil and rarely eat this products.
Once or twice a month should be no prob but the ppl that get ill by this probably eat it every day.
The concern is not obesity. Heart disease can happen even if a person is at ideal weight. Trans fat (partially hydrogenated oil) is all over the western world, so you definitely want to read ingredients lists and ask restaurant owners if they use it.
mono glycerides and diglycerides are now the new name for partially hydrogenated oils. It's the scientific name. I guess they are still trying to put t-fats in food.
So WHY were trans fats banned and not partially hydrogenated oils? WHY is this still accepted? Who do they think they are kidding? They want us sick!!
Our only way of fighting back is being in the know. The group of people running the world right now are outright murderers and rapists hiding behind a curtain of..." we have to protect ourselves against a war on terror." What war? These same people that say these types of things, are the same people that poison our water with fluoride and MSG and...the list goes on and on.They should all be locked up in jail.
The message at the end of this video is spot on. As consumers we have to take at least some responsibility for what we put in our bodies. Whilst the food industry is profit-oriented (as any business), they are also driven by consumer demand. If we are lazy, or just too busy, keep purchasing fast food and demand it has a long shelf life, instead of taking the time to cook for ourselves from raw ingredients then we are partly culpable IMHO.
Good stuff but honestly I'm going to keep eating donuts and jack in the box. but at the same time, I can easily live off the land if I needed to. Imagine if the world was nuked and there were no more pizza huts and in and outs. Enjoy it while you can. lol
You can still eat all those types of foods, just look for a brand that does not contain (partially) hydrogenated oils (which are the unhealthy trans fats).
Coconut oil or palm oil are great substitutes, as they don't need to be hydrogenated to make snacks crispy. That's because coconut and palm oil are solid at room temperature.
You will find that these healthier versions often taste better as well!
I don't see why people eat meat and fried foods any goddamn way. I get sick off it. I love sugary foods but shit greasey metas and fried shit make me sick, Pizza is the only thing I can eat all day with alot of grease.
Please makes some research about Future foods that can be Hazardous like the Food Printer that prints out artificially food that is synthetic that makes people Pathetic :D
McDonald's uses more HFCS than any other fast food place. Researchers found that about 30% of HFCS products, since 2005, contained MERCURY. Just do a web search!
You don't need to give up on junk food altogether. It's easy to avoid transfats. Just go into your local gorcery store. There are a lot of snack foods on the shelf which don't contain any transfats. Just be sure to read the ingedients list carefully. And, of course, fast food should be avoided at all costs. That stuff is unhealthy anyway.
I'm surprised that some people speak out against trans fat bans because they don't want the government "policing what they eat."

Why is it that cake frosting have so much trans fat. I work in the super market, and that's like the only food that has a lot of it. Is there a way to make it WITHOUT trans fat?
ECDT1089 1 year ago
@ECDT1089 Coconut oil could be a good substitute for use in cake frosting as coconut oil is solid at room temperature. Palm oil can also be a good alternative but watch out for GMO (genetically modified) palm oils!

This is really pathetic. I heard about this and I couldn't believe it. I'm extremely health conscious and I didn't even know trans fats could exist in our food without it being listed on the package. After hearing this, I wrote an article on my health blog that helps people identify which foods have trans fats. Tell me if it helps you! Here it is

also, look out for "interesterification." it's hydrogenated oils mixed halfway with unsaturated plant oils. and if any of yall took organic chemistry, be aware that hydrogenation involves breaking carbon-carbon double bonds and adding hydrogen atoms.

I see lots of labeling on products "no hidrogenated fats or oils" but... are they actually being honest?
vegannese 1 year ago
@vegannese A lot of supermarkets have caught on to the fact that hydrogenated oils are bad for the health of their customers, so they know longer add it to their own brands. Hence the label: "Contains no hydrogenated fats or oils"
Always check the ingredients label! Food products will contain trans fat if they include any of the following ingredients: (partially) hydrogenated oil or fat, shortening, margarine. If these are not listed, you should be ok.
HealthRanger7 1 year ago
@vegannese I heard they are illegal over there, is that true?
Bigrobkerr 1 year ago
don't be fooled everyone. alot of labels say no transfat but when you read the back of the label it will often have partially hydrogenated oils on the label. i think if it's under a have of gram they don't have to label it. peanut butter is bad a doing that. stick with natural or organic.

RandyBful1 2 years ago 2
@RandyBful1 Good for you ! I shy away from most breads because I can't find anything with those basic ingredients. HFCS is the main ingredient in most products, even after all my years as a vegan, I am still very surprised to see how we are being deceived and manipulated.

Listening to the radio I just heard a "science reporter" state that beef is bad cos of saturated fat.
1. Over half the fat in beef is unsaturated -- the same fat as in olive oil
2. There is no clinical evidence that saturated fat is bad for us, , anyway!
3. There is no clinical evidence that saturated fat causes high cholesterol, , anyway!
4. There is no clinical evidence that high cholesterol causes heart problems, anyway!
bundleHastings 2 years ago

What they mean to say is that animal-based saturated oils/fats are harmful to our health.
Vegetable-based saturated fats (such as coconut oil) are actually very healthy.
Animal-based oils and fats are not really good for us as they clog our arteries.
Unsaturated (vegetable-based!) oils such as olive oil are much healthier.
However, don't heat these unsaturated oils to high temperatures as they easily break down into carcinogenic compounds when heated.

UsukButIRok 2 years ago
I love how the FDA lies to us...they ban marijuana, something less harmful than alcohol, and allow trans fat, a carcinogen, heart disease causer, EXTREME obese causing agent... and they make it COMPLICATED AS HELL! If there is less than 0.5 grams of trans (including 0.49, I'm not kidding, companies can do that) they can say 0g of trans fat...now 0 is 0, not <0.5...you have to do the tedious ingredients check for Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, or Hydrolyzed Soybean PROTEIN!!!
UsukButIRok 2 years ago 2
I agree with everything you said, but hydrolyzed soy protein and partially hydrogenated oil are two different things.
flowerlinaaaa 2 years ago
You sure? My mom is an expert when it comes to food and food safety and she told me ANYTHING Hydrogenated or Hydrolyzed is basically the main ingredient to trans fat, giving it all the negative aspects...but then again she could be wrong, or I took Hydrogenated anything too seriously...
UsukButIRok 2 years ago
Im sure. it's still pretty bad for you though.

Why are they not telling us at school, what is in our food? All they tell us to eat less than 1500 calories a day, but what good is that going to do to you, when people are ingesting low calorie but full of toxins meals?
oesophagus101 2 years ago

UmaaSevenfoldd 2 years ago
Trans-fats are no more damaging than animal fats. The term "trans" refers to the chemical structure of the long chain carbons. The carbon chains of animal fat look like this VVVVVVVV so when they group together they "link" making a bond that is difficult to break. Plant oils do not make these bonds but when they are hydrogenated to make them more solid they simulate the animal fat bonds. So if your worried about trans-fat you should not be eating any animal flesh either.

Avoid all artificial sweeteners, flavor enhancers and (partially) hydrogenated oils/fats (trans fats) as they are the main causes of obesity.
Stop using microwaves as they destroy up to 97% of the nutrition and vitamins in your food.

Hi admiralcrash1 ,
You can still eat all those types of foods, just look for a brand that does not contain (partially) hydrogenated oils (which are the unhealthy trans fats).
Coconut oil or palm oil are great substitutes, as they don't need to be hydrogenated to make snacks crispy. That's because coconut and palm oil are solid at room temperature.
You will find that these healthier versions often taste better as well!

Just be sure to read the ingedients list carefully. And, of course, fast food should be avoided at all costs. That stuff is unhealthy anyway.

Also eating organic won't protect you from it. It's not considered an inorganic substance in the food industry...
