Everyone is so caught up, tradegically to new contemporary/secular sounding music and has nearly forgotten the songs that actually have meaning and truth. Down home back to basic gospel music needs a swift come back.
THIS MAN I WISH HE WAS HEARD IN EVERY CHURCH THAT ALLOWS THIS NEW THING THEY ARE CALLING GOSPEL MUSIC, THIS IS WHAT GETS GOD'S ATTENTION, TRUE WORSHIP & PRAISES TO HIS NAME, GOD LOVE IT WHEN HEARS TRUE WORSHIP & I DO TOO, GOD IS!!!!
:) wow this takes me back 2 when i was a little girl no more than 3 or 4 sitting beside my mama as the decons lined the hymns & the reverand let the spirit use him. Although i'm only 28 i can defenately appreciate this type of worship because honestly i have a hard time relating to the new contemporary stuff. Thank god for this
I know if you find a Primitive Baptist Church in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi or any other state that is apart of the National Primitive Baptist Convention, INC USA you will most definitely find them singing like this. Especially on Communion Sunday mornings. This coming from a Primitive Baptist minister. We stil giving God the glory in this way. Always have, always do, and always will......PRAISE GOD SAINTS!
@revlife4life I HOPE YOU STAY ON THE WALL,LET NOTHING & NOBODY TURN ITAROUND,THIS IS WHAT GOD WANTS HIS GLOIRY IN HIS HOUSE & WE MUST STOP LETTING THE WORLD'S PEOPLE DICTATE WHAT THEY WANT IN HIS HOUSE. I AM SORRY FOR THOSE WHO LOVE THE NEW THING CALL PRAISE & WORSHIP WHEN YOU HARDLY HEAR GOD'S NAME & SOMETIMES I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SINGING OR SAYING MOST OF THE TIMES.GOD SAID HE DON'T SHARE HIS GLORY WITH NO-ONE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL
@revlife4life This is true, go to any church or association meeting and you will see the spirit really moving in the place. I'm 30 and after growing up in the church I have a genuine appreciation for the "Dr. Watts" or "Old 100s" as some people call them.
PASTOR SUTTON CONTINUE TO LET HIM USE YOU WITH THESE HYMNS OF WORSHIP, THIS IS WHAT GOD WANTS US TO GO BACK & REMEMBER HOW & WHAT HE DONE IN OUR LIVES. PRAISE GOD NOT MAN IF WE SIT DOWN & THINK OF HIS GOODNESS & STOP GLORIFY MEN & PASTORS OR LEADERS OF THE CHURCHES. GOD SAID IN HIS WORD HE WILL NOT SHARE HIS GLORY WITH NO ONE. I PRAY YOU UPLOAD MANY MORE OF THESE SONGS &HYMNS OF OLD WITH YOUR ANOINTED VOICE WITHOUT WAVERING OR DOUBTING WHETHER IT PLEASES OTHERS NEW WAYS OF GOSPEL SOUNDS. GOD IS.
MY PRAYER IS THAT THE CHURCHES OF GOD WILL GO BACK TO THESE HYMNS & GET AWAY FROM THE NEW MOVE CALLED THE GOSPEL THAT SOUNDS LIKE WORLDLY MUSIC WHERE YOU SELDOM HEAR GOD 'S NAME MENTION.GOD CAN'T SEE THE GLORY BACK UNTIL WE GET OUT WHAT PLEASES MAN & NOT WORSHIPING GOD
TODAY I HEARD THIS PASTOR SINGING HYMNS GREW UP LISTENING TO & THIS IS THE WHY I YET PRAISE GOD WITH TEARS STREAMING DOWN MY FACE,GOD ALLOW THE SPIRIT TO COME IN MY SICK BED ,MY BODY IN SO MUCH PAIN BUT I AM STILL HERE THINKING HOW GOOD GOD HAS BEEN TO ME IN SPITE OF WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH. GOD IS!
Those old hymns ushered in the presence of God into the service. I too miss that kind of worship. People weren't ashamed to lift their hands and praise God. Today we are more concerned with titles, and numbers, and the size of th church. Nobody is being saved, we are just church hopping.
If you cut a white person they have red blood, you cut a black person the same, if you cut a asian, or mexican the same... We are all one in Christ Jesus... Eph.1:3-6 might of fact that entire chapter... it wasnt for a particular race that was for the whole human race.. Why can't white and blacks just come together and worship God as a whole... HOnestly, it's jealousy and we don't know how to accept one anothers culture.. When we get to heaven... there will be no separate wallls.
I am not sure how old you are, but there is a history behind the black church because blacks were restricted to worship with whites (i.e., Richard Allen & the AME movement). Your comments about the black church seem to lack the reality of U.S. History and the history that we all collectively seem to perpetuate. My question for you would be what should blacks have done for worship after being excluded? I would love to hear your plan.
This is very nice, but I wish people weren't racially segregated into black churches and white churches. We're not going to racially segregated heaven, are we?
Im Dine (navajo) from az and Lord knows no white or native dude could pray and sing like this hahaha I have no prob with this Man hahaha Thank you Jesus!
That was then, this is now. I assure you my ancestors worked whether they wanted to or not as well. And even now, we are all slaves together to the global elite. They want to divide us black against white for their own purpose of using ordinary people to enrich themselves and then discarding them.
You are not sugguesting that what brought us here has been all resolved and we are ALL healed from our past? Let us not be so naive. Beloved, this entire social proposition is much nore complex for an email conversation.
This social dynamic is much larger than race, class, and gender. Spiritual warfare is in operation being camouflaged by these social constructs. In order to really understand how these constructs interact we must view through our spiritual lens. Be blessed!
I'm not suggesting that everyone is healed, I'm suggesting that we were all injured, and that a good way not to go on injuring each other is for us to start to love each other. I known it is hard for Americans because of your history, but in Europe I believe we are not far from the point where having a black church would be as ludicrous as having a church for people with red hair. And, just like Conan Doyle's red headed league, these racially unmixed things are a cover for something much worse.
were can i get some more hymns like this i want to learn them i am 23 but ilove the way they use to have church i am not realy into all this new stuff
I agree! I'm 23 as well, and also a church musician and singer since I was 3 years old. While the contemporary stuff is...ok, it doesn't EVER make me feel and understand like these old hymns do! My grandmother used to teach them to me, and I love hearing these hymns on youtube, cuz I never hear them in the church anymore...it's like "hymn" is a bad word or something! People need to stop being ashamed of the traditional, and know that God blesses theough this music too, not just new stuff!
@sjohnson161 I totally agree! I am ok with contemporary, (BUT) There is nothing like old time gospel. These songs are what brought us through hard times! God Bless!
@MINISTERCDBerry the easiest way it to use the search engine on youtube and peruse the choices. Most of these hymns can be found in the standard baptist hymnal published by the national baptist convention
We need to keep in touch with our African-American roots. Ain't no shame in remembering where we came from. I am also like MinisterCDBerry, can't get too much into this new stuff. Old school seems more sincere and heartfelt. I myself belong to a church that sings nothing but the old spirituals. "Ole Ship of Zion," "I am On the Battlefield, (For My Lord) "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot".
I know not everyone knows about these types of hymns but these are the songs that carried "our folks" over the years. I'm so thankful for this posting. There's only one church in my city that I know of that still sings "common meter." This takes me WAY, WAY WAY BACK!
This is wonderful. I just wish we could get more of it. I grew up a Cedar Grove and St. James Baptist in Greensboro and we sung songs like this all the time. Under Prince Graves and Johnnie Settle. They were the best Pastors on this side of Heaven. Travis in Greensboro
What? You are from Greensboro? Me too! I grew up in church at Oak Springs Baptist Church in Stokesdale. Then I joined Cedar Grove Baptist in Terra Carta (Greensboro). I visited alot before joining, while Pastor Settles passed. I also grew up hearing Pastors Graves (St. James) and Bishop Wells (Wells Memorial COGIC). It's a small world!
Yes Lord! This is why I can't leave the baptist church along!..lol, I can hear them deacons singing with such conviction and power as I sit here and listen to the preacher!
