  • they looked like blue gills to me, but it might just be because of the low quality camera

  • i just use an old 2 litre bottle

  • I have a few traps like these, and I put a styrofoam cup in in my bait compartment instead of bread or dogfood. I catch up to 50-60 bream in a day to bait trotlines. And have had as many as 80 in it at a time baiting it with only a cup.

  • nice

  • Where do you get those traps? Store or online???

  • @VersionD12 sorry for the late response. We make all of these traps, and they can be purchased from the website in the link. If you have any questions, please let me know!

    Thanks

  • I made one of these traps.... Fairly simple work great!

  • oooooooooooo i know this place this is the pond in the back of umm jubielie christian center sry cant spell my dad and mom gose there

  • did you say u can use it for bream?

  • @Lawrenzo777 Yes, it is primarily made for bream. Works great!

  • Thanks Bro, appreciate the help, got to love The Great State

  • @clh566 Yes, I know. They are commonly called perch here, even though they are not in the same class of fish.

  • I was just wondering what would be a good size for the opening of the trap also what did you use to tie the trap together. thanks

  • @moeyo83 hello, thanks for the question. The size of the opening should be determined by your states laws. Here is Texas, the openings can be no larger than 1 in by 3 inches. I use stainless steel hog rings to bind the trap together.

If you have any additional questions please ask.

    God bless

  • @abborrviken I use either bread, dog food, or NOTHING. The fish will find their own way inside the trap. I may also use a little bit of spray foam from the hardware store - this stuff works great, and doesnt make the mess that bread does.

  • you make it ?

  • You can find that cage material all the time when I see this stuff on the side the road in the trash I stop and load up. Pay attention to craigs list free stuff and some times you will find people getting rid of their rabbit cages go get them and convert that material to fish traps. I bet you could convert some dog carry cages to great fish traps too. Thanks for posting another feather in my had of survival tips.

  • nice dude

  • i go fishing for bass too but i never use live bait can you give me tips or make a video on how to rig and what i need

  • if you use larger gauge wire, this becomes a crab trap

  • hwy i hgot one of those traps. where do u thing i should put it . like should i out in in the trees that r partlt under water or the wet lands

  • That's a really cool design. Just curious, do you make a living off of selling those traps?

  • @ImAlwaysR1ght No, dont make a living. Just something I do for fun.

    Thanks for the question.

  • can they dilever or do you have to come get it

  • a how much do you sell those for and do you make catfish traps

  • @Jerk252195

hey thanks for the interest. All the prices for the traps can be found on my site below.

    Reeltexasoutdoors(dot)com

Yes, we can ship them...and do often. The shipping will obviously depend on the size of trap ordered, but to give you some idea the largest traps ship for about $15 to $17 and the smaller traps ship for around $7 to $10.

Hope this helps, and thanks for looking!

    God bless

  • Ya man I sell them. I live in Texas. Check the link in the information below the video.

    Reeltexasoutdoors(dot)com/products

    Thanks man.

  • wat state do you live in? and would you sell one of those traps?

  • where can i buy this type of trap

  • @jtschid0910

hey man thanks for the question. check out my site in the video description for ordering info.

    Thanks again, God bless.

    Mike

  • how much would u sell the trap for?

  • i have been seeing a lot of vids on this traps but i want to know is how do they work in small strams and creeks also i would like to know how to make one

    thank you

  • what would you use as bait???

  • You should embed your video on your listings. Make sure it the video does not promote purchasing outside the listing page.

  • How do the fish get trapped? why dont they just swim on out again? :P

  • the fish swim into SMALL openings on all four sided of the trap. They typically will not get back out unless you lift the trap out of the water and place it back in without removing the fish....

Even then, only a few will escape....fish don't seem to be all that intelligent.

    thanks for the question...

  • well, once the fish goes in it can get out but it usually won't.

  • that is so cool how long does it take to make?

  • wow...sorry for such the late reply...I must have missed your comment.

For cutting out the material and putting it together (everything) I can probably make one trap in about an hour and a half.

    Thanks for the question..

  • Great video!!! I've recently started using bait traps. Saves me a butt-load of money on live bait. What size opening do you use on your funnel entrances? My state limits me to a 2" tall by 1" wide opening. I've got a number of bait trap and fishing videos posted. Take a look if you like. I'm always interested in sharing ideas with other fellow fishermen. I mostly go after catfish, running yo yos, limb lines, and trotlines.

  • thats a very nice trap should i just try to make it or do you sell the plans to it?

  • Thanks for the input...glad you like it. I sell both the traps themselves, and the plans to make them.

If you're interested - please email me at RUSTICSBYSMITH(at)YAHOOdotCOM.

    thanks again for looking!!!

  • I made it...they also come in different hardware clothes and different sizes.

  • did you make that trap or did you buy it?
