If I was a movement leader, I would change tactics. I'd protest in Washington instead, and publish the following list of demands:

They need to stop affording corporations the same legal rights afforded to real persons.

They need to ban political donations from lobby groups.

They need to remove tax breaks on corporations.

They need to increase taxes for the wealthy.

They need to introduce strict regulations on the financial system.

They need to de-privatize the health care system.

The movement does have goals, but they are doing a poor job of communicating what these are. More than one "official" list of demands currently exists. They need to compile and publish a comprehensive list that the majority agrees to. I think they are also protesting the wrong people. Wall Street cannot, and will not change their practices unless they are forced to by regulation. They need to protest the federal government.

If you really want to shut down the NYSE then just encircle thee entire block with occupiers handcuffed together in a huge human barricade blocking ANYONE from going in or out, it'll work but you may get your heads bashed in for the cause. Keep up the fight!

Honestly, I don't get this movement. I have no idea what they want or why they are protesting. Most of us know there is something wrong with the system. But, wasn't it Washington that passed and repealed laws that made the meltdown of 2008 possible? Washington (SEC) is the regulatory body that makes and enforces the rules, right? Seems to me that the WHITEHOUSE and CONGRESS are to blame, not Wall Street. The change they want comes from the ballot box. Protesting Wall Street changes nothing.

@RegioLunar Sure but, what I don't understand is how this movement plans to bring about the change they seek. What the hell do they really want? I don't see any clearly defined objectives. Who is in charge? What are their demands? I have no clue what it is they want. It seems to me, a political solution is the only way to get what they want (whatever that might be). Yet they are not protesting Washington. Also, 4,000+ arrests and Millions in property damage isn't helping their cause.

As the propaganda machine runs at full throttle it´s difficult to figure out.

I´m pro Occupy because those who caused the crash the banking CEO through their reckless invention of bogus financial instruments are still in office as if nothing happend. They infiltrated the various oversight bodies through intense lobbying. It´s the interests who drive government and i think "urcritic" sums it up (other comment here)...
