  • Nice feel and groove. Good job.

  • Can you please upload bass play-along videos of 'You can do Magic' and 'Tin Man' by America?

  • how do you edit your videos?

  • cooler basslauf

  • The other option is to start with Pointer on E and then Ring on F#, Pointer on D, Ring on B note back to the Pointer on D, and then MOVE THE POINTER back to the E note starting point. You are doing this quick subbing the pinky with the Pointer at the end of the phrase and it not only causes a bit of a jerkiness it just makes your hand and fingers over work. All you need is your POINTER and RING FINGERS to play that whole phrase.

  • Try a different fingering. I notice how your pinky and your pointer do this jerky substitution. If you start the phrase with your RING finger on the E note and just move your Ring finger to the F# , you can smoothly move your pointer to the D note and ring on the B note back to Pointer on D which then sets up the phrase with your Ring on the F#. Too many times Bass players want to over finger things.

  • ok i was getting this song from the vid and 2:03 happened .____.

  • this was great, I'm looking to do a full cover w/ my work station and my guitar, and i'm planning it out in full notation. This was better than TABs.( like TABs as a reference, but i prefer to use real music notation. Kinda like a secret language to separate wanna-be's from musicians) i learned to play by ear then learned to read.......anyway, great performance. thankyou for the A/V info.

  • The bass line is awesome and you play it perfectly!! I wish so bad I could play bass!!

  • Where did you get the music for this

  • @Disco32er Sorry no tabs I'm a play-by-ear guitar guy.

  • Wow, incredible job. Im playing this song in a show, and I dont 'NEED' the tab, but it would help a lot. You did an very good job covering it, and would love to do it the same. If you could message me thatd be great. Keep it up!

  • Excelent!!!

  • What is the framework and model of your bass? Thanks

  • @GustavoJCPirituba This is a Lakland 44-02 bass

  • Its weird but some of the notes I hear arent doing what your fingers are doing. I dont think its a sync problem with the video. Did you dub some parts? It doesnt really matter it just looked weird to me....lol. I know you can play the song so I know its not a fake. For example......like at 1:38, the notes I hear arent the notes you play. Thanks for the videos.

  • @clewi1091 I know what you mean. This is a audio/video sync problem on youtube. It results in video and audio being out of sync. :-(

  • its cool

  • How do you recordit with this good sound...?

  • one of my favorite songs for ever. Nice playing!*

  • i'm so excited to go home now and pick up my bass! :)

  • you've got a really smooth way to play the bass :D

    & perfect cover, like it^^

  • love the bass to this song

  • Toooooocool:-)

  • is it or tuned on drop D?

  • @gigmaster07 I use the standard EADG tuning.

  • Excellent!!!

  • Nice =)

  • very good

  • this is my favorite youtube video off ALL time

  • Where oh where are the tabs?

  • Sorry I have no tabs !

  • @Genuwine846 it's hard to find tabs when you search in places "america". you usually dont get the AWESOME band...

  • why the fuck would u need tabs seriously.... i jus figured the whole bass line jus watching this now... its jus 7-9-5 an 0 over and over again... wth a bit of improvisation this shouldnt be to hard.... fuck @Genuwine846

  • what are the tabs for this?

  • Nice vid, good recorded and just loud enough to hear the song and the bass 5/5

  • OMG... U'r great dude. I like ur guitar bass aswell. The sound was really really clear. Great perfomance. 5 stars for u dude

  • what settings do you recommend to set an amp to for my bass to make it sound as good as yours? gain? voice? ETC

  • good cover im going 2 have mine up =D

song is easy to play once you figure it out i play it dif i play it with E Fsharp and B in that order

    Ty Katoerie

  • Sorry, I don't have any tabs !

  • could you tell me which frets and snares u use? :S

  • @infusion26 You need to cut-n-paste the following in the intro of all your videos. "I have no tabs, REALLY!!" and "My rig is a Lakland sky........" ;-)

  • Man! WELL DONE REALLY!!!

  • HIGH END BASS, NICE BUT I LIKE FENDER

  • Thank you ..... really ......

  • nice so nice...

  • i like it good job

  • You're amazing.

  • Yes, A Lakland skyline 44-02 4-String Bass.

  • nice nice i like

  • good song... great playing.

  • Thanks !

  • Hey you bassists looking for tabs....some advice for you re tabs...do it yourself. It's good practice, just look at the video and listen...use the pause button and pencil and paper.

  • Yes, Tabs are a crutch and I have never used them. It is excellent ear training to figure it out yourself. REAL men and women don't use tabs.

  • i've been playing for about a month and i'm starting to be able to figure things out by ear. tabs are a huge help though for beginners because its very tedious to sound out every note before you find the right one. once you have more experience playing you can approximate the location of notes so tabs become less necessary.

  • Tabs are never necessary even for a beginner. Using Tabs slows down your ear training. It's like training wheels on a bicycle. It might be easier now but you will never learn to ride until you take them off.

  • I am really glad that people appreciate this video but I have to remind you that I do not have tabs !

  • This was amazing. I'd never heard of the band before, but I really liked the song. Also, you did a textbook job of showing how even a simple bassline needs the groove in order to truly dig it.

  • his is pretty sweet

you did a relly good job

would you mind tabbing it for me?

  • I bow to your coolness.... I'd love to see the tab too.

  • Sweet bass, Hard to find a Fender Jazz with no pick guard.. very "Jaco"

  • Its not a fender, its a lakland

  • thats not a jazz bass...

  • heh heh cool you obviously totally enjoy playing bass. keep 'em coming. Thanks, John.

  • Sounds really good! How long have you been playing bass?

  • omg!!! i've been looking for this for so long!!!

    Thank you!!! :D

  • You're welcome ! It was my pleasure. :-D

  • A personal favourite of mine. You've captured the groove (again!!)of a wonderfully hypnotic song. Another 5*

  • Thanks man ! :-D
