  • They wont let me have a firearm

  • a metal cup that your water bottle fits in to boil/cook in couldnt hurt to add.sweet kimber btw!

  • A pencil would be a good idea, along with the pen or instead of it. It will write if wet, doesn't bleed, and can be sharpened with a knife. And in an absolute worst case scenario, can be made into tinder.

  • Looks like a really solid kit you got there, I'd trust that anyday. Very similar to what I would take out into the Aussie bush(minus the gun maybe, don't have any predators here).

  • My only suggestion is adding a wire saw, and a leatherman brand multitool. otherwise, good video.

  • Pack Imodium tabs in first aid. Your guts will thank you.

  • Depends on your reason for heading for the woods. By the looks of things in America right now, if one had to head out fire would not be an option. I.R. and heat signature needs to be considered. I NEVER hear folk considering that.

  • ( .)

    / ( .)

  • chuck norris would only need two things his hands

  • that multitool is a bad joke

  • But how can you didn't prepare yourself to have two free hands when the camera started?

    -.

  • Great. I also like camping.

    -.

  • you are smarter than average, most people that get in trouble in the outdoors, never give it a thought. keep up the good work. Who knows, you may save a life.

  • Very nice....a litlle bit of everything to make your life easier in the woods...

  • Nice kit! Thanks for the video. The last item bag you just added to your kit...what was it (who makes it)? Thanks! Nice 1911.

  • Decent kit.... Now if I could just get hold of a 1911 like that here in the uk!

Its ok though as we are good with slingshots here, right?!

    Just subbed bro

  • You could of mentioned a GPS. Could come in handy!

  • @MerlJohnston1 or, you know, could learn how to use a map... just sayin'

  • sucks to live in an enviroment that forces one to drag a gun along.

  • @pezis Whether you live in an environment where you need to carry one or not, it's best to carry one and not need it then to need it and not have it. If I can carry something and it not bother me then I am going to carry it.

  • @pezis yeah, its called earth... earth sucks...

  • nice vid, the only thing I would change do to it is get a metal canteen so I the option for boiling water and making char cloth.

  • like the vid, and quick tip. hammock camping with a space blanket in the winter can be very very bad sir. lots of moisture in your cloths. LOTS. big problem.

  • Where do you live? I carry a hammock, but I live in texas, and I still know damn well I will freeze my ass of in that hammock in the winter.

  • you forgot to include the dog !

  • @goldatra3 thats a given haha i never go out into the woods without my dogs.

  • @jab0505

but, but..., you mean..., you have more than one dog??

    -.

  • What does EDC stand for again?

  • @300in1Warrior every day carry, pretty much a bug out bag that is more basic/ EVERY day

  • i thought it was a very good display... the only thing i found that you missed was a way to boil water and or heat a meal in, i suggest a compact kitchen kit

  • seems like alot more then 12 items? Maybe we count different in Canada.

  • 550 cord, paracord, sucks for fishing & trapping. The ONLY reason any survival talk about the stuff is because of army paratrooper training. because that's what they had with them. When thinking ahead as much as packing an E blanket that is when you also pack a small fishing kit with ,... guess what? fishing line. Use the inner strand of 550 in an EMERGENCY like failing to bring fishing line.

  • @homeagent agreed and there is fishing string in the adventure medical kit thats in the video. I was just naming some options you could use it for incase you didnt have fishing string or ran out of it..

  • @homeagent Sure but paracord is a must, because you need to hang your food to a tree, and paracrd is also good to make a washing line to try your wet clothing during the day

  • @goldatra3 dude, i didn't say that ya never need rope or cordage,...I'm just saying that there are better types to bring in & the tricks w/ paracord started from a paratroopers survival book cause that's what a paratrooper had w/ him.

  • @homeagent Lighten-up.

  • @impetussubitus YOU lighten up! I made that comment over a month ago, so get a fukin life.

  • @homeagent

He didn't wait a month to write the comment you moron.

  • @mecrazy5 wtf? didn't wait a month? that doesn't make sense. what drug are you on? never mind, just butt the fuck out. why do you children keep replying to me? why don't you guys bug out already. go live in the woods.

  • @homeagent

Hmm, my comment seems to have confused you, I'll reduce the reading age to about 5 years old.

You told impetussubitis to "Get a life" for telling you to "lighten up",

Seeing as your comment was longer and more heartfelt than his, your statement is a bit of an oxymoron.

Also, he only said lighten up, it's not the end of the world.

  • @mecrazy5 and now I'm telling YOU to get a life. It's not the end of the world.... now fuck off and go live in the woods you overly analytical loser.

  • @mecrazy5 .... & did you happen to notice that impetuosbutt didn't reply back w more bs after i told him to get a life? Apearently he is much smarter than you.

  • @homeagent

    How old are you? 5?

Chill out man, it's just youtube, you don't have to show off here! No one's going to hurt you little buddy.

  • @395Javelin you can fuck off too.... anyone else?

  • @homeagent

Wipe your eyes little boy, no one can hurt you in the comments.

  • @395Javelin stop calling me names. What the fuck do you even care? Am i hurting you ? no, i replied to some fool for talking shit now more fools are jumping in talking more shit. ..........if you must fucking know.... look above at my first comment which got 2 thumbs up, this is what attracted all you trolls.

  • @homeagent 3 Comments to crazy

  • This guy isn't walking 20 miles a day. I'm a little more minimalist.

  • Smart people never never! take gun in wilderness...

  • @vaidotas86 Then "smart" people join the supply end of the food chain.

  • @Nako521 for self defense simple fire works really great. For bear attack pepper spray work better than any pistol. And for hunting low caliber rifle works 10x better, because pistol is not accurate for hunting and long distance shooting. But I'm minimalist so I prefer trapping instead of hunting(and usually I "hunt" fish :D ).

Why smart people don't take gun in wilderness? Because with pistol you can make lot of damage to other people, and you cant kill bigger animal only make minor damage..

  • @vaidotas86 I agree that a trap line will consistently produce more meat for the effort than anything else. Bear spray or fireworks will never be as fast or effective in stopping an attack as a good firearm. I've been carrying firearms in the woods for over 40 years and have never harmed people or property. While I prefer a long gun, I have taken game from squirrels to deer as well as dispatching snakes, feral dogs and pigs and rabid skunks and raccoons with a handgun.

  • Nice kit. I'd suggest switching to a stainless-steel water bottle and cup. Water can be boiled in either and if they nest together, won't take up anymore space.

  • You seem to choose light gear for the water purification, the emergency blanket, water bottle and first aid kit. But then you overdo it with your insanely large fire starting kit - a simpler kit should be a magnesium shavings type, and is the size of two keys. You could also do away with the hammock - it won't keep your warm because air flows under it. Finally, you have WAY overdone it on "protection." A GUN - Really? Where would you need a gun to survive unless we are talking zombiepocolypse?

  • @aklags "A GUN - Really? Where would you need a gun to survive unless we are talking zombiepocolypse?"

In reality, a lot more places than you'd need to suddenly squat down and make a fire. Phoenix, Arizona has become the kidnapping capital of America, with more incidents than any other city in the world outside of Mexico City. All of the southwest US is getting worse every year. This is his EDC, anticipating and designed for his needs and his area. Your mileage may vary.

  • @Nako521 That is such a fear-mongering mentality :) Come on, are you telling me that in your backcountry adventures you expect to be confronted by kidnappers? If this kit was for a 15 year old girl, I might give this one to you. But seriously, you already have an insanely large knife, which means you should be trained in how to use it. Having a gun might make you feel good, but it won't protect you. Kidnappers don't just show up and give you time to see them coming. They sneak up on you

  • @aklags Be that as it may, an EDC kit (Every Day Carry) contains the prioritized items an individual determines they may need to meet POTENTIAL emergencies on a daily basis, not just in the "backcountry" Just because you see no need for a gun in your EDC DOESN'T mean that no one needs to carry a gun.

  • @Nako521 I think you misunderstand me, I have nothing against carrying a gun. I'm just saying that an EDC is just that - every day carry. That means lightweight and small size is important. It also means that redundant items are a waste. The gun only has use for killing animals for food, or at worst killing a bear or mtn lion that you feel is a threat. A well built man who carries a gun is NEVER the target of a kidnapper. This is an EDC not an apocalypse kit. If you need to hunt then ok

  • @aklags Everyone has their own priorities for their EDC. Personally, I EDC a Bible. While some might argue that is wasted weight and space. I'll argue that a positive attitude is paramount in any situation but especially in an emergency and carrying and reading the Bible keeps MY attitude right. YMMV

  • @Nako521:

One of the best comments I've ever read in an edc vid.

It's a joy to know, that there are still people like you out there.

The word of god is the best you can have with you.

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8,12)

  • @fsdfmsbcxx Thanks and all of God's blessings to you and those you hold in your heart.

  • @aklags Tell that to the Aussie kidnapped recently in Mindanao philippines though he did have a gun (probably a 45 auto) But he chose to live in an area full of muslim rbels and kidnappers I thnk about 6 of them raided his house one night .

  • @APpoacher Dude we live in America. We aren't talking about going into the wilderness of the philippines here. You aren't going to get kidnapped here. There's a better chance of you getting struck by lightning and dying. Furthermore, handguns are not effective at stopping large animals like bears, if you don't scare them away with the noise, that tiny bullet isn't gonna do shit. A rifle is better for hunting. A shotgun is better protection. No gun is better - tame your fear children.

  • @aklags seeing how a 22 caliber rifle or even a 22 cal pistol can kill alligators, i think you can kill a bear if you nead to, a pistol is good for shooting small game like birds and rabbits, a shotgun is to much weight to haul around

  • A 22 is not going to stop a bear. Period. That's common knowledge. Just because an alligator can be killed with a 22 does not make it an effective defense against bears. Do some research, this is a well known fact. My point is that you don't need a gun in your kit, but if you want one, a 22 isn't going to do shit.

  • @anusjaynes666 You will NOT kill a bear with a .22 unless you get that one in 10 million shot. On the bright side though, he will be angrier thus expiditing what he needs to do to you to fill his tummy. ;)

  • @aklags The need for protection is even greater in the "backcountry" where criminals are not the only concern. Wild animals don't always act the way they should and feral dog and pig populations are increasing alarmingly as are the numbers of attacks on humans.

  • @Nako521 I guess that depends on where you are. I've been in the backcountry of utah, colorado, arizona, and mostly the northeast. I have never felt the need to carry a gun. You can protect yourself from dogs and pigs for free - make a spear with the knife you already carry! Its weight saving. I also use the spear as a tarp stake for my shelter. Guns are expensive and wasteful. If you are in grizzly country then you might argue that it is better than bearspray.

  • I agree on adding a tin cup for water boiling, as well as some sort of filter, even a couple bandanas or a lifepen. My main question though is, what do you carry all that IN?

  • not enough duct tape or explosives...

  • bug out bag 2012 the end

  • stop. going. around. THE GUN lol jk, nice set up

  • @ 2:35 I have that multi tool.

  • is more like a war gear than a survival kit

  • Got a BK-2, Helle GT and a Bacho laplander "folding saw" and a little mora knife just for the crap of it, an extremely good sleeping bag -25c comfort temperature and -35c extreme temperature a net hammock, about 30 meters of 550 cord and lots of hemp cord (hemp cord is also reasonable for tinder due to the oil its treated with), a lightweight frying pan, some boiling pots and a military food storage box mostly dry foods I keep a couple of dry rations in there, All in a 60 litre bag, I'll survive

  • Do try out that mylar around your hammock before you need it. I would think you will wake up during the night drenched in sweat.

  • Not sure you really need the gun, unless you are in really hostile territory, or possibly bear country. Just say'n.

  • typical american bullshit. you dont have anything to boil water in, therefor youre dead. you do have pure tabs but that wont kill all water borne pathogens and viruses.

  • sorry hat was the name of the tarp at the beginning of your video i didnt get it?

    thanks

  • You seem to be very afraid of not being able to make fire, arent you?

  • @TheSikiciCocuk shud always have many ways to start fire. rule of 3's,,, 3 hrs of hypothermia and you die.

  • good vid mate thanks

  • What about food? In a true bug out situation, you probably wouldn't have time or the accessability to go shopping. I would want to pack enough calories for 3 days.

  • I have 4 levels of bug-out kits. The one you have shown represents my level 2. About the only thing I would add is a TI 600ml cup. Light weight and if you put your bivy into it there won't be any loss of pack space. You'll then have boiling water capability and an eating/cooking cup (I'd also add a spork and a 24hr storm candle and toilet paper).

Other than that I would swap the 1911 for an M1-A1 Abrams...but that's just me. Good vid. Brief and to the point.

  • Sounds like cletus from the simpsons!

  • dude that is a no bullshit, make it through most things EDC, very nice :D

  • Comment removed

  • i like the 1911

  • i wish too see the rest of your pack!! how long can you be in the woods with those items shown in this video?

  • same pen LOL :D

  • Some dudes are stuck on 3 essentials, tin can, pocket knife, lighter. I'd rather go with you... 12 better than 3! Good job and very sensible.

  • ...first thing i see is a gun lol...

  • I don't think a gun is a necessary component for wilderness trips; unless you live where there is grizzlies. Its nice to have one, but not necessary. IMO

  • Im happy to be #100 on the Like list. That was a great video. Im am learning a lot from folks like you. Thanks for the time you take to help others to prepair. Also I liked your dog. Thanks, Fred

  • Good job. I enjoyed the video. I would like to learn more about your newest item (the small survival kit in the center.) again. Great Job.

  • my edc is a glock

  • @GoldDougie so is mine i switched to a g27. a lot easier to carry comfortably and easier to conceal

  • @jab0505 same but recently switched to g30, i suggest you get one. the most accurate gun ive ever shot hands down

  • Nice video. Who makes the water bladder, and where can I get one?

  • @Zbee167 i believe i got mine at rei but i think they would have similar ones at most sporting goods stores.

  • @Zbee167 The brand name is Platypus.

  • There is absolutely no reason to carry two knives, that's like carrying two sleeping bags or two guns. You only need one, reliable. all-purpose knife and that is it.

  • @superhornet69 watch the video.. i never said you needed both just showing different options.

  • @superhornet69 there are plenty of reasons to carry more than one blade, especially if you are going into the wilderness...for example, suppose you get out in the wilderness and your single, reliable, all-purpose knife suddenly becomes unreliable, what do you do then?

  • @ghostfireX07 agreed. personally i carry a couple. large fixed blade and a smaller all purpose knife. But the video being an essintials video i wouldnt say that you would have to carry two. essentially you only need one but two is better for all the different tasks.

  • @ghostfireX07 ....Well the same can be said for a tent or a sleeping bag or a flashlight or a backpack....the list goes on and on. So why not just bring two of everything then? You don't see these survival guys like Bear, Les, Dave and Cody carrying two knives, much less two of anything. The only reason to carry two knives is because you are a knife fanatic and are obsessed with them...it's total OCD all the way.

  • @superhornet69 have you ever stopped and thought those guys arent carrying more than one knife on their tv shows because they are putting themselves in emergency survival situations where an average person would have to survive on only what an average person might be left with...and im not saying everyone should carry more than one knife, for me its personal preference, i feel a whole lot better knowing that i have a backup blade should something happen to my primary knife.

  • i was wondering if you guys would pack anything for emergency stitches for deep open wounds?or maybe to sew up a ripped boot or hat

  • where did u get the neat first aid kit? looks like tiny backpack thx karen

  • @cougarbahia im pretty sure it was at walmart haha. adventure medical kits makes a lot better ones. you can find them at rei online or at any rei store

  • What are you going to boil water in???

  • Thnx for sharing. I'm actually going to find that bivy sack right now!

  • nice. i going to look for that bivy sack. thnx for sharing!

  • @drail9884 agreed

  • nice i like it.... got almost the same thing i got dude

  • Meh...Just need to carry enough ammo to make it back home from where ever I happen to be if the shtf. Like if I'm at work and the shtf I need to get home to my goodies.

  • @nostresstoday this is what i take with me when im going out into the woods not what i take to work

  • 5/5 thnx

    Beretta 92fs

  • make one without guns most people cant own one or dont hav one. bow an arrow maybe and u could remake arrows in the bush for unlimited ammo

  • Nice things to have but most are not essentials.

  • @MrRRW555 well if you know what your doing you really dont need anything because everything you need can be made but for the average person heading into the outdoors most people should carry a fire starter, some sort of shelter even if its just a tarp, and a way to carry and purify water at least

  • best ever

  • FINIALY SOMEONE WITHOUT A GLOCK

  • hmm i really like the emergency bevy bag. were could i get one??

  • @assmanbrett you can get them at rei. i think they have them at bass pro to.

  • pistol? rlly?

  • @bushcraftourway yeah depending on the enviroment your going to.. if your going into the canyons in south texas you see mountion lions frequently. or i your in bear country.. the chances of being attached are pretty slim if you do the the right things but its still nice to know i have some protection. you can also use it as a signaling device. ie the universal three evenly spaced shots over and over again to signal for help as well as aquiring food such as small game up to a deer if need be.

  • @jab0505 Also, it makes a good zombie defense for those times when a pistol is just too bulky and cumbersome.

  • Don't bring a pencil, it could break

  • Nice Pistol

  • nice video

  • u have 4 ways to make shelter. very nice

  • 4 of 12 items are weapons, that leaves only 8 items of survivability, but... these 8 "items" are containers actually, which holds even more items :)

Really sorry for bitching around well made kit (and video) :D

  • Excellent !

  • very to the point good vid!

  • sweet! I see you drive a ford!

    KICKASS!

  • Good stuff, I have the same idea about the hammock.

  • Great video!

  • great vid

  • excellent vid!!!!!!!!

  • when i saw the pistol, my first thought was why the hell? but then i coped on that not all wilderness are like ireland. we have no predatory animals to worry about. mountain lion ! dam, id love to go out with you tho 5*

  • Wow, that is one sexy 1911 pistol. Look fairly light also

  • @MrFoxtror thank you i love it. its awesome. its not super light. it weighs 31 ounces unloaded but its def not the heaviest 1911 out there either.

  • thats pistol is useless in canada we had a bear harvested this year and he had been shot 4 times before. when he was feild dressed there was puss sacks holding the bullets and infected the meat but get a shotgun it worth the wait if you need it plus look up that alskain bear it was like 13 foot or somin crazy eat a man and was shot with a .38 6 times than a guy deer huntin got rushed he put 9 7mm mangum in it and was breathing plus there blood runs slow you shot em in the heart they can still go

  • yeah i dont need to worry about bear as much where im at as much as mountain lions but a 45 is sufficient and a 357 being ideal. not only is a shotgun bulky but it lacks the penetration and distance. if i were to take a long gun it would be my 30-06

  • am glad we don't have many moutain lions up here(cougers) its rare for one to attack here and its even rarer if you live it's really thick mature bush so most of the time you can't see 60 yrds in front of you i wish I could bring a pistol but to get one here is hard and the only place you can use it is at the range you can't even shot your own pistol on your own property plus you need a perment to bring it to the range even it bs only long guns Thanks thou, where is it you camp/hunt?

  • camp in colorado, texas, arkansa, oklahoma, and utah. hunt in mainly south texas

  • I see lots of vidoe's from down there. i had a friend just head down to wyomming for a mule deer and antlope hunt wild pictures he was huntin jack's with a pistol i bet you guy get some long shooting lanes our black bear is awesome if you ever come up here to hunt or camp alguquin park(4 hours from me). am heading out west alberta you can hunt grizzly, black bear, moose, white tail, mule's,elk, wolfs and coyote all from the same wacth(tree stand) do they hunt gator down south?courius about the taste

  • thats cool. yeah you can hunt them in some places as far as i know. they actually have gator at some restuarants and i think its very good

  • Don't use a pen

Use a pencil. The ink in a pen will run if it gets wet or if it's written on your skin it will run if you sweat and won't be there long.

Get one of the waterproof paper pads and a pencil.

  • yeah the ink will run but it gives you more options. you cant right on your skin with a pencil. a sharpie would be the best option i believe

  • @jab0505 felt tip pins are the best for writing on skin. ballpoints work ok on regular paper. pencils are best on the waterproof pads.

  • That was a pretty good video. Five star.

  • very nice vid with great ideas.

    Question: Who makes that mult???

  • no idea i got it as a present. i think its brookstone that has them

  • no this is my edc because i do carry it every day ( in my truck ) yours my be different but this is what i have with me everyday. Im going to have another vid of what i keep on my person. my bug out bag is alot more extensive see future vid. everyones situation will be different so there edcs will be different as i am frequently driving through areas deep in the woods i carry things that would help me in the woods so if my truck would break down i would have something until i got help

  • hey i didnt say it was bad it is just what we call bug out kits its a great bug out kit

  • edc? looks like a bug out kit

  • yeah i call it an edc because it is an everday carry item when your in the wilderness where i frequently am and it goes in my day pack and when im not in the wilderness its in my truck. see my practical edc vid for an idea of an edc you carry on your person. generally unless im in the woods on my person ill carry my 1911, extra mag, wallet, lighter, 5.11 tactical folder knife (soon coming vid), and a cell phone

  • way to be ready for anything!
