A real shame that Snow Fairy had to scratch out of the G1 Hong Kong Vase, and that she'll miss the 2012 G1 Sheema Classic as well. I'm one of those that believes for as good as Snow Fairy has looked at 10f in the Hong Kong Cup, Irish Champion Stakes, and the Champion Stakes, I believe 12f is her best and most dominate trip. But TJMO.

Good win by a very very good filly. IMO it's getting to the point where you'd have to say she's shading Oiuja Board... big wraps indeed.

Truly, hats off to Snow Fairy!! What a game, consistent filly she's proven herself to be over the past couple of seasons. Whether it's been against the best fillies and mares, or the best of the boys, she never fails to give a first class accounting of herself. It will be hard not to like her chances of a winning a second Hong Kong Cup, too? If she goes to Sha Tin again in December? JMO.

Whilst you can't knock Ryan Moore's record on Snow Fairy and I think she's a top notch mare, I wouldn't put it all down to him riding her as opposed to the other jockeys as this is a females only race and she doesn't often beat the boys to win and possibly the opposition has been stronger in Europe this year than the field here.

What colt finished in front of her in the Arcr or HKC ? she was very unlucky in running in the QCS so that run is best forgot as she could have easily won that race with a clear run, apart from needing her first 2 runs of the season following injury she as only been beaten by 2 colts and she as beaten both of them before, so it is a bit unfair to generalizeas, as her form stands up well against the very best colts & from 3 to 4 she as beaten every colt who>

@amazed66 as beaten her, that is from 10 to 12 F, that is not a bad record when you include horses like SYT, Cirrus Des Aigles, Workforce, St Nickolas Abbey, and when you take form lines into account she is up there with the worlds best colts. the track record was also nearly broken in Japan & that was from draw 18 of 18, the track record was also smashed in the Arc and the QCS. she is not only up there with the best colts she is just as likely to beat them as to be beaten by them.

@kelletman You have also have noticed in my 1st post that I described her as top notch & so have clearly given the horse credit & whilst some of the various reasons for why she didn't win any races in Europe this season are valid ones, nevertheless she still didn't & so nothing in the summing up of anything I said on that subject was inaccurate. I couldn't agree more that she was unlucky & would have at least beaten So You Think again last time but that's not the same as actually winning.

@amazed66 my main point though was that I was suggesting it wasn't just due to Ryan Moore not being on board as to why she has been beating in the past, as jockeys like Peslier, Dettori and Murtagh are no mugs and the likes of Eddie Ahern and Kirsty Milczarek have actually won on her too.

@amazed66 I thought you said she came up short against the boys, yes she has not won in Europe this year, but she did beat all the boys in the Arc at her best trip, and may well have won the QCS as she had already beaten CDA in HK and on a line through Famous Name had the beating of him in the QCS, but Preslier did not give her a chance of winning that day, she was coming with CDA and only a nose seperated them, but she ran into a wall (SYT) the one thing we know about SF is that she stays. so>

@amazed66 so she would have put it up to CDA, that we do know, the score between SF & CDA is 1 each, we will find out if she was unlucky or not in the HKC as that is the target for both, my money will be on SF. I agree with you about the jockey, but the problem is Dettori & R Moore are often retained so cannot ride her, Dettori was just getting to know what she could do when he was pulled, cannot be good swapping jockeys all the time, she needs 1 jockey who will not be pulled for his stable >

I would like to throw another name into the mix Alan Munro, he as worked as a jockey in both HK & Japan, he can speak japanese and some cantonese, he knows the racing tactics out there well, he as won top international races all over the world including the derby and the King George the Queen Elizabeth II Cup -HK Hong Kong Gold Cup - (1)Hong Kong Champions & Chater Cup - and many more, he gave both Dettori & Fallon a lesson in riding when he won the G2 international on Indian Days, you would not

@kelletman yep fair enough, don't disagree with much of that & was a fan of Munro when he rode here in the UK in the late 80s/early 90s & he did well enough when he came back whenever he was on a good enough horse.

All I was saying before about Snow Fairy was that being up against the boys & winning was harder than just beating beating her own sex. Ironically if she stays in training then Workforce is retired & Stoute had a bad season just gone, so Ryan Moore could be free to ride her again.

@amazed66 I think A Munro is a first class jockey, if he had had stayed in 1 country I am sure he would have been snapped a big stable, I know he was riding in Italy when he won that G2 , this year he tuck out a license to ride in Singapore and is licensed to ride in Qatar, he also tuck a year out and and fought on the international stage in karate, he as won 15 G1s in 6 different countries so you would think he would be on everbodys short list when it comes to international races

@follyhoog what about it, is there a point you're trying to make in there somewhere by any chance? If so maybe it would be better to just come out with it as it would be far easier......unless of course it's that Frankie is suddenly useless and Moore all conquering because one won on a particular horse and another didn't. Could it possibly be though that overall Midday is a better mare than Snow Fairy at 10f as opposed to 12f and as a 3 time Nassau winner likes Goodwood?

Why would you want Dettori on board? Ryan Moore has been on board five times and won five Group1s beginning with the Oaks. She has lost five out of five this year with other jockeys. She is off to Hong Kong now to aim for another double for RM. Keep him as the jockey and she will clean up at 10f to 12f next year.

What a horse, drawn 18 and came from the clouds to swoop late, she looked to have no chance from that position, but her class got her home, she was unlucky in running in the QCS, but put things right here.
