I don't know what it is about this record but it is just mesmerizing. I never get tired of listening to it. Thanks so much for posting. Incidentally i think there was a music factory in manhattan too where i used to go for good vinyl stuff. Never been to the one on kings highway though.
Can't be bothered to check through the comments... Does anyone know where the piano sample was taken from? Sounded a bit Ahmad Jamal-ly, but I doubt it actually is.
@Nexodaedalus there are no samples--I know Bob Blank the producer--everything on this track was actually played (Bob plays guitar)--simply one of the best grooves ever produced
Maaan, this song used to tease me on the radio! Dj's would play it, but never say the title or artist! I'd try describing to people, but my vocal version of the piano at the begining sounded HORRIBLE lol
i heard this for the first time about 2 years ago on the radio on da way home from work and been trying to figure out who it was and find it. This song is mesmerizing. Thanks for posting it!!!!
@Jocoll76 you heard this on the radio 2 years ago??? wow, i've haven't heard stuff like this on the radio since they were "hits"... what radio station and where?
@apauln It was when i was still in Nashville, i moved to Denver a lil over a year ago. I cant remember the exact station, but it was a station that was playing 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's music.
@Jocoll76 you should have heard this when it was first released at the Paradise Garage NYC 1982. that sound system was legendary. It was SLAMMIN' . ALL THE MUSIC BACK THEN WAS OFF THE CHAIN.
MONSTER AFTER MONSTER. WE HAD NO TIME TO REST. BACK TO BACK AWESOME TRACK AFTER TRACK. MISS THOSE DAYS REALLY BAD.
@apauln It means you got over and out of the "laws way".which I was quiete succesful at.But,your past come back to haunt you in this life and the next and Iam cleaning up the mess I made now at 46 years old.I did have a long run,but it wasn't right.
i miss those days that summer i was 14 and my idol was locked up so i had to grow up quick like a mother and this song helped me Baisley Park ill neva forget Mo Cheeks R.I.P
this was the sh-t back in the day, Gettin over like a fat rat in NYC back then.
