  • 4 rollerblading guys dislike this

  • The good old days when anyone wearing vans was an immediate friend :)

Best* powell vid if you're 40+

    *that little kid's best ;)

  • filmed in one day?

  • @chrisunderscorealton Probably in just 2 hrs.

  • I always wondered if he made it or not. Probably, he was damn good.

  • This used to get me so pumped up to go out and try to kill myself, but I usually looked more like the Lance Mountain goof-off segment.

  • JimVincent, no shame in that! The Lance goofs were legend and instrumental in relaxing.

We'd kill ourselves in the heat, working our way up hill many times, showing off for the girls, etc. Some of the most fun was being exhausted and rolling back home doing nonsense like that.

  • I'm 32 now and can't find a modern board as comfy as my old ones.

  • @JimVincent I skate Hill's 1991 deck with the Ear graphics, I picked it up for $70, still in shrink wrap. You can pick up some great old school decks pretty cheap.

  • Simply awesome! I use to watch this tape (still have it) all the time and get pumped to go out skating. I always thought Frankie's segment was the best - he wasn't the smoothest, just the fuckin craziest!

  • Back on a skateboard and back on Diabolical Skateboards, yup.

  • Frankie Hill=Legend

  • Time freakin flies...

    Aaaaaaaaaaah da good ol times....

  • The good old days when the people with skateboards were actually skaters.

Now everyone and their dog has a board. 85% carry the board more than ride it and couldn't ride it if they wanted to because they're too busy trying keep their sister's pants at the perfect hip level, aside from the ridiculous Top Gun sunglasses getting in the way. Of those who ride, only 2% have it in their blood. Really miss the old days.

  • lol you got a point pretty sad thing how skating is treated now well if you problaby showed them how fast and aggresive it could truely be i think they would ditch freestyle and have no limits like freestyle when not doing nothing is cool but cmon have no limits do everything there is out there

  • Yeaah, old skool skating! I was 10 yrs old when I bought Ban This on VHS. Especially this Frankie Hill part was / is my favourite. Thanks!

  • Ya see this guy doesnt need girly tight pants and emo fag hair cuts...he is a legend dirt balls......!

  • is that a longboard?

  • Didnt he try and sue Powell Peralta after he had an accident, then became a dentist

  • I don't know about a lawsuit, but I know he didn't become a dentist. I read an interview with him about two years ago, he was kind've making a quasi-comeback but disappeared again (he was killing it though). I forget what he was doing for a living, but it was outside the skate industry.

  • Fucking street grabs are killin me

  • You need to look at this in a historical context. Nearly everything Frankie does in here was banger after banger... one of the first prolific stunt skaters to set the groundwork for that type of skating for sure. I canceled out your thumbs down thingy because people accidentally neglect to look at this in regards to when it was made and what skating was like at the time (I skated before this clip was out and roll to this day). Also: consider that board he's riding. Can't believe we flipped 'em.

  • dude im not hatin frankie is a g. im just sayin in a satirical manner that street grabs are killin me lol. lindsay and anthony shultz do it today even. does this mean they should be any less respected? no it does not. they as well as frakie are amaxing skaters and i understand historically that it made sense and this part paved the way for skateboard "stuntmen" today like jamie thomas. its just funny to me. we all love frankie or we wouldnt have found this part on youtube.

  • Matt DeAngelis Guesta: "according to an old Thrasher article/interview he wrote, he's a dental technitian. That means he makes crowns and bridges and stuff like that. Got hurt (shooting an ad for Powell) and then turned around and sued them. Apparantly won! :-/ Then apparantly a few years later asked to be put back on the team."

  • best.

  • Isn't this fucker crippled now?

  • is this filmed in one day? He wears the same clothes in the whole video

  • No. But they wanted it to seem that way. Watch Ray Barbee's Epicly Later'd and he explains how they filmed it in one week but they wore the same clothes to make it seem like a one day thing.

  • so fuckin good its not even funny, i wish he didnt get injured i wonder what shit he woulda done in the 90's

  • really good early street skating

  • the best- great memories, great times.

  • im assuming this was filmed in one day

  • frankie had the best landings

  • Now he's a dentist...

  • yea bro

  • WOW OMGI remenber the day I purchased the Beta tape of this ... ban this!

shit! so good timez! BTW frankie was with Chris sent in venezuela back in the great days!

  • Frankie Hill=1st street stunt/daredevil/evil knievel skater!!

  • One of the first handrail pros. Too bad he blew out his knee and disappeared.

  • This guy broke his knees. Too bad. Is he still skating? I hope. This deck looks like a boat!

  • what is the trick called in 1.13

  • 360 ollie or 180 to pivot.

  • but 360 ollie?? he never leave the board from the ground? You sure its a 360 ollie?

  • he was my muthafukin ni99a!!!!!!

    DESTROYED EVERY VIDEO!!!!!

    TOO BAD BOUT HIS KNEES

BUT U COULD SEE IT COMIN :(

  • DAMN.

    I LOVE HIM 2 NOW!!

I c him for first time. is there a video where he broke his knees??

Too pity :(( -.- that sux.

    AWESOME VID 5*

  • what i heard was all the stress frol those beastly million-step ollies he was pullin

finally wore his shit out and he got addicted to pain killers

  • So his knees broke cuz he was jumping too often and too much and thata stuff?

    not rly from a accident?

  • what i heard was not any accident but the wear n tear ya heard?

    like arthritis

i mean less be serious peep that ni99a's resume

look at all those gaps and steps

some of them shits is like more than 10 feet!!!!

CLEARLY NOT FOR THOSE PUSSY POSERS THAT WALK AROUND TOWN CARRYING THIER BOARDS

  • LoL.

  • imperial old school...grandisimo hill

  • i grew up on this shit RAD

  • mate!!!! my favourite clip from the vid....its been around 20 years since I have seen this!!! it still almost holds up to todays skating!!!lol! well some of the tricks!!!

A bit thanks goes out to people like sgtreesh for putting this stuff up, because without people like him we would never see this stuff again!

  • But Can You Do A Hand Stand ????

  • My Hero back in the days...

Watched this part 10 times a day before i went out skatin'!!!

  • Till this day that Kick Flip Indy over the fence is still sick.

  • my uncle went to high school with that guy.

  • got ban this, powell 8, and a few others from an old video store for a couple bucks in 96'..... and frankie was always my fave part other than rodrigues, diaz, mariano part....this part means so much to me half cab flips flat ground what!!!!!

  • CLASSIC! CLASSIC CLASSIC!!!

  • Proof that you can ollie on what looks to be a 9" deck

  • I had a frankie hill board, wish I still had it. He was damn good.

  • Shit!!! On those loose trucks too....a legend!

  • Those acid drop board slides down the rails are mental. My bro used to do them bitd and they used to freak me out. Good vid. Thanks

  • man, whys everyone so angry?

Great video...those were the days, Frankie Hill was great.

  • sick.

  • Frankie Hill + Rodney Mullin = What street is today.

  • BUT CAN YOU DO A HANDSTAND?

  • Man, i was 9 and bought this video. I was so proud on the Tony Hwak board, with t-bones and gullwings man..... i saw frankie and was blown away man. i landed the double impossible and impossible late kick-flip with him in moind man, FRANKIE HILL IS THE BEST , same with my man Rodney M.

Like said in , you may guess the video's name, ................shredding and having fun. man I will skate till i die, we all should......

  • kickflips at 33 . thats a riduclous aguement like jerry rice cant catch a football anymore because hes older. im 31 and dont jump down handrails (never fuckin did) but i can skate benchs, bars, ramps, bowls, flatground the same as when i started at 14. I feel like i still progress (learned heelflip frontside blunt on box other day). it just hurts worse the day when you slam hard.....sk8 for life PUSSYS QUIT i'll skate when im 70'

  • most of these comments dont suit the video, anyway i think its such a shame that hes cheating because he had such style and potential.

  • what's frankie doing these days? does he have a myspace page or anything?

  • jellow legs mcGriff. this is some stylin' shit. looks like he's havin a good 'ol time.

  • Who the fuck are you to judge? Hill and Barbee were the best of their time and pioneers. Fuck off.

  • He still skates. He had an ad like a year or two ago for those lame ass tail sparker shits.

  • WOW! one of the coolest skaters ive ever seen

  • this guy is rad as fuck. end of story.

but did he just wear the same clothes for an entire part?

  • yeah, but you know he prob. filmed this part in one afternoon, unlike sk8ers today who take forever and a day to do their parts. Wardrobe changes included.

  • Damn! this IS the video that got me hooked on skateboarding as a teen! I skated for 7 years and I'm 34 now! I can also still do a kick flip, but damn too old to do anything else!!

  • I'll agree Frankie Hill was crazy as fuck, but his his bullshit ass/hand drag landings are like the opposite of style.

  • wtf this is fuckin insane dude hahaha

  • I agree. I think he did pioneered stunt and speed skating. I remember watching this video over and over again before a skate session. Man I miss thoughs days. Believe it or not, I'm 33 and can still do a kickflip. This is the only trick that I can remember how to do, lol..

  • me too man. wish i wasnt to old to skate ! sad.

  • comtec25 why is it hard to believe you can do a kickflip at 33 . I'm going to be 34 sunday and i can do alot more than kickflip . I started skating 22 years ago and still skate a couple times a week .sk84life

  • frankie hill is the shit!!!

i think that pat duffy got the balls to skate rails watching this kid!!

  • you could still do his impact style today and get in mags.

  • lol mute grabs

  • shit. that was agressive, but ray barbee's part is just a innovative. definetly a true classic skate video

  • Frankie pioneered stunt skating. He was Jamie Thomas and Kris Markovich's biggest influence

  • This guy pulled off some of the burliest ollies and railslides i have ever seen.

  • What ever happened to him?

  • that is what i am asking.

  • there was a thing on this in the Skateboard Mag, he had a massive knee injury trying to ollie over a ledge/stair gap and supposedly went into dentistry after failed attempts at recovery.

  • he blew out his knee way back in 1992, it ended his career. Now he's a dentist but he's definitely back skating now, just for fun probably

  • kid was mad talented

  • this is fuckin RAD!!!!!

  • Frankie Hill was the most balls to the wall insane motherfucker to ever be on the Bones Brigade. I always used to watch his parts on the BB vids over and over and over.

    Such an inspiration. Much respect!

  • Some of the most innovative skating from this dude! Ollie one foots...

  • Kickflips look so badass with those type of boards....

  • the boards whernt that bad tahts when the companies where for the first time putting a lot of time into desing, concave ,nose, angles of kick.because of that you have the perfectly desing boards that you have today.look how little concave on franky hills baord but averything els is fairly ok .i road a board similar to that you dont nees much concave, my first good baord was a matt hensly, and i loved the shit out of it.

  • does he land that last grind?

  • nope i read about it in the new transworld am issue.

  • thats where i heard about this video, i just didnt bother to read the rest :)

  • haha. it looks like he could have made it too

  • Yeah i know. I guess when you grind a rail that long, by the time you get to the bottom, you are going so fast that you when you hit the ground you break your ankles...maybe...

  • i dont think he did but who cares that kid would go big and make it so many times that even if he didnt land this exact one ,give him enough time and you know that he would.

  • I dont know much about frankie hills personality, mostly because i wasnt alive at the time.

  • all you need to know was this part and his other in Propaganda were groundbreaking

  • He was supposed to be mr. balls out tunnel vision skating on bloody stubs. I remember sequences of him doing big ollies but I never liked powell videos much. Now 20+ years down the road, I remember why.

  • .....why?

do you prefer the chilled out skate videos like almost and enjoi type stuff?

  • well I don't know what he doesnt like about the videos. But what i noticed was that powell videos seem more like the company talking. "oh! do an ollie and then we'll film you under it" rather than the skateboarder. It seems sort of coreographed and the video shooting isn't as smooth. A lot of videos were like that i've noticed. Like santa cruz's videos...

  • yeah, that doesnt sound very good

i think fully flared is probably the best video

  • filmed all in one day

  • fun fun fun...

  • ban this el mejor video de patinetas siempre

  • jjajajjajjajjajajhajaa

parece q este tipo hubiese agarrado un comentario en ingles

"ban this is the best skaterboard video ever"

y lo haya puesto en el traductor jjajaja

    porque quedo re trucho

  • me podrias creer que soy chileno ?

por lo general prefiero escribir bien hermano

    paz

  • his skating shows why skateboarding is so much fun

  • I want a bart simpson skateboard too... what are they called? fishboards? sweet vid...

  • i wish i had pants that orange.

my orange pants pale in comparison

  • Frankie Hill had the sketchiest style!! :D

  • este recopilado me pareec perfecto un tributo a los mejores skaters de los 80-90s

  • he owns a car dealership nowdays

  • No, they DID film all these dudes parts in one day, they're not just wearing the same clothes to make you think so. The whole idea of the video was more to document these cats skateboarding, not like the 1000 tries per trick video magic we see today.

  • wow i wish the style of skatin didnt change from then

  • i remember when i first saw this as a kid i thought there is no way skating could get any better than this

  • 1:24 was fucking sick!

but so was the whole video ahaha

  • Damn Frankie rules too bad a knee injury stopped his skate career at least he skated when skateboardsing was pure.

  • did he land the big handrail at the end??

  • Frankie Hill was burly!

  • Did he film this in one day? He's always in the same clothes.

  • Ha, yeah, that's what I was wondering.

  • me 2

  • that's how the 'ban this' video was filmed

they wanted it to feel like a day of skating

  • Which, I never knew, thanks. I really don't know much about skating before the 90's and even before say, 2003, I only know the OG plan b team and their works. Well, I do know Eastern Exposure 3, but thats it. Cool idea though. Thanks for the trivia.

  • i saw a picture of austin stephens boardsliding a rail on the toy machine website and it said austin was inspired by this guy so i click it and now im posting a comment.the tricks are sick.i dont know how he goes so big with that fish board they are super heavy and hard to kickflip witrh

  • Yeah I saw it too.

  • NEVER.

  • me too

  • I was too

  • how many people were just on toy machine site?

  • i was

  • just now

  • me yoo

  • I was too.. :)

  • holy shit!

  • I like it!!

  • whats amazing about Frankie Hill is that he's such a small guy, but the tricks that he pulls are MEGA HUGE! Incredible skater!

  • my all time favorite session in a vid

  • greatest footy of Frankie Hill and i still have the video

  • frankie hill+skateboarding=HARDCORE!!!!

  • Thank you mr. Hill....

  • An inspiration - Frankie makes skateboarding look how it's supposed to: fun!

  • Knees of steel! Legend!

  • Wasn't the reason he had to quit for like 10 years because of his knees?

  • frankie hill king of stunt sk8ing

  • Frankie was revolutionary, but still the worst lander ever.

  • fuck everybody who gave this less than five stars!!

  • amazeing my god

  • dam your good

  • ok Frankie, just wear that same outfit everyday so the veiwers will think we shot this in one afternoon.

  • its just as good now as it was then...Frankie lives!

  • Some of the burliest ollies I have ever seen!

  • for a crappy board like that the skating is amazing.

  • That board was, like, top-o-the-line back then.

  • Isn't that Peralta?

  • he got some balls

  • Hell yeah, gotta love the old school board and how it was all in one day

  • Frankie Hill grew 2 additional feet once he got off his skateboard! LOL!

He's the sickest railer in my book.

    -Brigade-

  • Frankie's entry in wikipedia is about to be deleted. Please go and save it! Use references to save Frankie on wikipedia!

  • man that was fucking insane. this video part looks old as balls, ive been skateboarding for 7 years and ive never ever heard of this guy. shows how little i know.

    what was the song?

  • Frankie Hill was just before your time. You just missed him before he blew out knees. He was on the PPP team w/ Ray Barbie. Both to me were the next level between my time and yours. He was IN when I went OUT.(college/snowboarding/no time to skate) Early 90's

  • Im there with ya. I started skating and Frankie Hill was my favorite....Still is.

  • I think that was some guitar by Chuck Treece. His stuff was in a lot of the BB videos. It's pretty rad music for skating even by todays standards.

  • Legendary shit

  • pure, true and simple skateboarding

  • In response to aufachse:

Skating is what you make it. I started in 86' and have just as much fun now as I did then, if not more... minus the arthritis. If your not into the modern scene, find footage of skaters doing what you like. There is every type imaginable out there. And that doesn't suit you, create your own scene.

"You don't have to be a stuntman to skate. Go out, do your own thing, skate with your friends." - Chet Childress

  • Why does this feel so good? Why do I still have the feeling that skating was so much better in these days?

Why don't we just turn and go backwards? Who wants to see a sketchy guy with no style jumping down 20 stairs?

    I don't know...

  • Was it all one day.

  • I think that this is probably one of the most influential parts in any skate video ever. Certainly the best video opening ever. I was at the world premier in St. Louis and I remember the crowd just going wild. No one had any idea what to expect, and Frankie Hill just KILLED it in this part. No one else was skating like this, and it took others years to catch up. It's too bad his career was so short, but he just such an astounding impact.

  • Hi Tami,

Again if what you say is true, your nephew gave every kid in my hometown including myself the greatest time of our lives, we all tried to be Frankie and we all went straight to hospital. Nothing but great memories-Respect.

  • in my town happened the same with christofer reeve when superman came out..everychild though he can fly over a window..sad.

  • ¿Can somebody tell what happened to Frankie Hill?

  • Broke his knee in 92 or 93, cut off by his bitch and so called mates(its all on transworld website), trained to be a dentists assistant, started rollin again after a decade in the dark once the knee had heeled. There's footage from 2004 retrospect on here and a new revolver vid with frankie leading the way, good to see him rippin again.
