  • Freedom of speech... ...just one of the US-patriotic bullshit phrases.

  • Guys( male and female), as a greatgrandmother, I have found that them that get do not talk about it, those that don't get or can't get it up to get, do nothing but talk about. Somebody please donate same Viagra samples to Rush so he can shut up about it.

  • Republicans talk freedom of speech when it suits them!

  • Fuck intolerant Republicans. After that incident, the Dixie Chicks found out who their real fans were.

  • @Stefandurrr Both of them!

  • A little history on Natalie Maines: At 15, she was already well known by the local police. Her father, an honorable man well known and liked in the community, felt he had to do something. So, he took her to the Baptist church Wednesday evenings and twice on Sunday. She eventually was coerced into baptism. However, when the preacher tried to baptize her, he found her head was so buoyant he couldn't get it submerged. Just as well. She would have gotten e-coli from what she did in the water anyway.

  • I think the Dixie chicks are awesome for two reasons, one they are talented, and two, they have balls. I mean don't they have the right to express themselves? Don't we live in a democracy? Freedom of speech?

Bill Maher (and others) criticize and talk crap about Bush all the time and no one makes a big deal out of it, the Dixie Chicks said one thing about him and every hillbilly suddenly felt the need to show their ignorance.

    To quote Brave Heart:"FREEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM"

  • @mascarian

Interesting how the Bush-bashers "I support the DC" crowd blames the demise of the DC on the "hillbilly" and/or 'redneck'.

If all you left-leaning, bush-bashing, 'Freedom of Speech' advocates ACTUALLY BOUGHT DC ALBUMS AND CONCERT TICKETS, then the DC would still be topping the charts

It is not the 'hillbillies' and 'rednecks' that are to blame for their demise. The fault lies firmly with those that claim they "support" the DC, but dont spend money on them

    It is that simple

  • @mascarian Freedom of speech, yes. Freedom from consequences? Never did. Maines said whatever she wanted every day. So did her ex-fans. Democracy. Get used to it.

  • @Therealmensa yep we plan to do the same thing to Rush. Democracy. Get used to it.

  • Let's not forget that these are the Dixie Chicks who've scorned their own musical constituency. Let's not forget that there are places in the world where heroism is more than brash disrespect for other people. Where it is bravery combined with nobility, honesty, and humility.

Whether you are for or against the war, one thing should be clear; that a mouthy uneducated entertainer could presume her opinion carries weight in an arena of such magnitude is not just illogical, it is laughable.

  • I grew up with this band, I don't care what they've done or said or what others say, they'll always be my favorite no matter what <3

  • For all those who want to bash the Dixie Chicks, this video currently holds the record for the most weeks being at number 1 on VH1's Top 20 Video Countdown (13 weeks), and this song won them 3 Grammys of the five they won at the 49th Grammy Awards, post 2003 controversy. You can't deny they're washed up. Also, at the 49th Grammys, they won all five categories they were nominated four. Yeah. Shut up.

  • @SohmaHero

"You can't deny they're washed up."

    Exactly correct.

As to your other points, so what? Elvis sold more albums last year than the DC did, and he has been dead for almost 40 years! :D

The music industry doesnt give a crap about what you did 10 years ago, UNLESS it reflects your future revenue potential.

DC tried a concert tour with JUST 8 VENUES summer 2010, opening for the Eagles' tour. They had to cancel 2 venues for lack of sales.

THAT is where they are today.

  • @SohmaHero And it was placed in the Top 20 by...whom? LOL. VH1 staff and that's all. Grammy wins are a measure? After going 68X Platinum, 63X over the same time as the DC's were at their highest and doing so in competition with the DC's and HUNDREDS of other male singers, three years AFTER he was placed in the C&W hall of fame, the man who the media has called a "living legend", got his one and only Grammy in 2009 - George Strait. Yeah, shut up.

  • course all should be ashamed of the war criminal/traitor Bush. that does not change the fact that these are commies from the Berkeley of the south Lubbock Texas.

  • I would be ashamed if Bush was from my state too.

  • @DsOwAn

I am ashamed Obama was elected President by a majority of voters in 2008.

    We all have our opinions.

  • @Leonid3s To be honest I am ashamed of our whole government and how it's become a self serving machine but on the bush thing the man ran 2 oil companies into the ground and they cut a whole states right to vote because his brother was the govern.

  • @DsOwAn

George Soros, a good little mulitBillionaire Liberal, is infamous for devaluing national currencies ON PURPOSE.

    Regarding the Florida vote:

The US Supreme Court disagreed with you.

    So do I.

    *shrug*

If we all agreed on everything, there would be no need for elections.

And yeah, I am ashamed of our whole government, both sides and the middle, for not having the balls to do the basics, like balancing the budget.

    :(

  • @Leonid3s Well neither have the balls to just put their differences aside for the American people and not just that but the fact that they're willing to cut social security and military pay but not their own salaries(which are to high if you ask me) says a lot about these people.

  • @DsOwAn

Agreed. (they are paid too much)

Social security, medicaid/medicare, and all the rest of the entitlement programs are going to have to be addressed before we can balance our budget.

I heard an idea I liked. As long as the budget is not balanced, Congress and the White House dont get paid.. at all. :D I like that idea!

  • @Leonid3s 100% like that idea that would get there a@$es in motion for sure!

  • @Leonid3s And yes we do and our right to speak it.

  • I love this song but the video is soooo damn creative!! Well done DC! <3

  • You don't stick your finger in the eye of those that made you an A-list entertainer and expect them to keep you in high regard. If you follow that with a multi-year bashfest against them, expect the hook from the wings to stay settled around you.

  • PS, check out the voices on YouTube. There is some stunning talent on here. Especially pay attention to the voices without processing/filters, etc.

A cappella baby! Hard to hide your voice that way.

BTW, I have looked hard to find any a cappella vids with Nat. Havent seen one yet.

    :)

  • And remember, just because you want it, doesnt mean you will get it.

There are many very talented voices in the world that never got the right chance at the right time.

Not saying to give up. I am saying to keep a clear head and constantly evaluate what you are capable of in a realistic light.

Be objective. Not pessimistic. Not cynical. But realistic.

    Again, I wish you luck!

  • Love the Dixie Chicks! They are one of the best country bands to ever had existed!

  • I love this song ... and I LOVE the Dixie Chicks.

  • Meanwhile, check out the video responses. If you are a bland weak singer, stick to the choir at church or your garage. If you've got a unique voice and a delivery, you'll get a following. See Johnette for this. If you've got a good ON KEY voice, look like a doll, and can actually play a guitar and write your own songs, see the hottest thing to hit country music since Shania Twain, do I have to mention her name?

  • I'm not the biggest fan of country, but I like this song. I like it even more when I found out the story behind it.

  • @flipmaya You wouldn't be here at all if you knew the truth about these women. But, feel free to enjoy the LAST of the Dixie Chicks.

  • @flipmaya sometimes stories like those make such great songs :)

  • @JoMartinezMusic People who are just "aspiring" don't put their fails out in public. You THINK you are already good. Hell, you even created a playlist of 45 videos. You aren't "aspiring" to be better, you're hoping your performances will move you up to the big time. Here, let me guide you through "logic". How many family members do you have? How many friends? Now, count the views, and how many came and left without bothering to like or dislike? And of those that did bother...fail.

  • @JoMartinezMusic Oh, I probably should have asked, are you a special ed child? If so, you just keep on playing! We don't care if you shit your pants, eat your own boogers,or fail onstage, you are SPECIAL,and I'll join the throng surrounding you telling you that was GOOD!

  • @Therealmensa Really, a special ed child?....I probably should ask this...WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU!?

  • @JoMartinezMusic Ah, so you ARE one of the "special" ones! LOL.

  • @JoMartinezMusic Search Sabrina and find her Set Fire to The Rain. Compare it to yours. And she is just concentrating on being an actress.

Best reality check you will ever get.

  • @Therealmensa she wants to be an actress? good for her I wish her the best of luck :)

  • @JoMartinezMusic People these days...making fun of special ed children and such. Pathetic, right?

  • @QuileuteCowgirl it's sad, I actually had a talk with my friends and family, they told me "you can't please everyone, and someone will always try to take you down" it's kinda sad that he has to go that way into comparing me to a special ed child because I'm not a great singer.. :(

  • @JoMartinezMusic

You need to learn the difference between real criticism and hate/bashing.

Mensa made some points. Off key, weak voice, etc.

YOUR JOB is to take those comments and evaluate yourself in light of those comments. IS YOUR VOICE WEAK? ARE YOU OFF-KEY?, etc.

If you find the criticism to be accurate, then address those issues. What can you do to improve your vocal strength? What can you do to correct "off-key" issues?

Or, if you find the criticism unwarranted, ignore it.

  • @Leonid3s oh when I meant "hate/bashing" I wasn't talking about those points...this isn't the first time he had an issue with me. He asked me if I was related to Fat Nat a month ago, because of my singing, and then asked me to quit. Now he asked me if I was a "special ed. child"?...again because of my singing, and then he told me that I would sing over laughters and boos and "anyone who would give me a chance to sing would be doing the audience a big disservice",you tell me that's not hate!

  • @JoMartinezMusic

There will always be people that dont like your music. You can be a well paid and world famous singer and have people that dont like your music. Get used to that. It is part of the business and if you want to make your living with your voice, it will always be part of your business.

Personally, I dont like Bono of U2. Not a real fan of Adele. Most rappers leave me cold. *shrug* To each their own.

  • (continued)

but ONLY ignore the criticism after evaluating it honestly.

Ignoring valid criticism is childish at best.

    Best of Luck!

  • @Leonid3s I'll freely admit I have a weak voice, and I may be off-key, but I'm a learner, an aspiring singer, I give my best everytime and I try to get better. I have received the support of so many people, maybe not here on youtube, but outside, in the REAL world. It's the comments that he makes that are so sad in my opinion that he wants to ruin someone else's dream by calling me names and telling me to give up, and that ain't happening...even if he begs me to.

  • @JoMartinezMusic

"Trying" is not enough. It is important. VERY important, but not enough.

If you know your voice is weak, work on it. Dont just punch out more vids. Commit to the kind of exercises that will strengthen your voice. Some singers run.

If you know you have problems with being offkey, maybe you should try to find a voice coach (who can probably help you with strength exercises too!)

Work it like an athelete does. Coaching and Practice, Practice, Practice.

  • @Leonid3s :) I appreciate the advice and I'll take it and use it 100% to be better

  • @JoMartinezMusic Finally, you are getting it. Finally, some grit. Be your own worst critic, I'm tired of doing it. Pull the crap down. Replace your best one or two vids with your next example of improvement, and let qualified people tell you what to put up. No successful entertainer quit, especially over an anonymous post on a social network like this. However, they all owe their critics a debt. You're welcome.

  • @Therealmensa ....and you could have said that in your very first reply and none of this going back and forth would've happened. :(

  • @Therealmensa but i appreciate the advice

  • @JoMartinezMusic Don't let him get to you. He's a low life that goes around insulting people. I think you sing great!

  • @QuileuteCowgirl I appreciate the compliment, thanks :) and yes, haters go home! hahaha

  • @QuileuteCowgirl and at 19, you're a pundit right? Now, run along and look that word up.

  • @Therealmensa Wow. Gonna go look up my age, huh? Real stalker behavior! Bye now!

  • @QuileuteCowgirl

Looking at your age, that YOU provided, makes someone a stalker?

    LOL!

  • @flipmaya As someone told me earlier, don't listen to that user. They go around to every Dixie Chick video and post insulting comments to everyone that supports the Dixe Chicks. It is a great song!

  • I loved them before and I love them even more now. I love that they will voice their opinions no matter what people think. This is such a powerful song.

  • Wanessa Camargo - Não tô pronta pra perdoar

  • They have never been good, before or after the offended their fan base

  • @BorgKing001 good or not, they sold a shit load of albums

  • On wiki, DC says: "We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do". About be with Reba M and Toby Keith. Well DC, your song got 3.2M vievs. None of Toby Keith's official music videoes got that few

  • @Moneycaller35 Many of toBY KEITHS VIDEOS GOT LOWER THAN THAT !!! LOL. Reguess your conclusion. Now you look like a retard...

  • @jackdonalds1

Measure it by the only yardstick the music companies care about... revenue.

So, who has a larger revenue stream these days? Dixie Chicks? Toby Keith?

    Toby Keith.

Who is still putting songs in the top 10? Toby Keith.

Who is still touring? Toby Keith.

PS, Many of the DC videos got lower views than THIS DC vid too.

Your logic is skewed by your bias.

  • @Moneycaller35 Toby Keith can't sing...he has zero talent. In the bubble gum age of music, I guess he would sell a shit load of music. No talent=huge revenues.

  • @Frenchloprabbit

Yet he still tours, still sells albums, still cracks the top ten.

There are many people with talent that do not make any money. I have heard gospel singers in church with better voices than the Dixie Chicks, yet they only sing in church and that for free.

Interesting comment though... "No talent = huge revenues."

Before Nat's comment, the Dixie Chicks had huge revenues.

By your logic, they have no talent.

    Interesting.

  • ok people talk smack about them but who the hell wants anyone to try to dictate what they can do you go girls if people don't want to listen you have the freedom to turn it off get over it and move on

  • @tammyjo3909 And millions of ex-fans did. But, thanks for showing up 8 years after they crapped in their own rice bowl and give us all permission to not listen. We were all worried you might not like it, and we would have to apologize to you. LOL.

  • @Therealmensa so tell me were you born stupid or did you learn that later dumb ass

  • @tammyjo3909 I'm smarter than you will ever be.

  • Didn't much care for the dixie chicks until this song was released

  • They say.. time heals everything, but i'm still waiting...

  • go dixie chicks! love it

  • Their disingenuous nature included two flip flops on the comment that got so much attention and a movie that is full of blatant lies intended to portray them as victims of conservative organized boycotts. None of which were true. Even the "shut up and sing" which they publicly broadcast and made reference to came from a lame threat letter never connected to anyone except a friendly radio station and the Dixie Chicks PR.

  • This song isn't about anything more than the Dixie Chicks' open contempt for both the genre of music that first provided them with a voice and for the audience that responded strongly enough to that voice to make the Dixie Chicks A-list entertainers. Their vitriolic, bile-spewing public temper tantrum was as reactionary as the self propagandized dissent they PRETEND to reject.

  • Redondo Beach fire department responded to a call saying a large albino whale had beached itself. On arrival, they found a trail of Winchell's donut boxes leading up to the "carcass". In response to reporter queries, Natalie said she was just catching some rays, and the firemen refused a million dollars to do her back.

  • @QuileuteCowgirl Dumb bitch.

  • @Therealmensa Oooh that hurt! I'm not gonna argue with you about it. I get that it was a joke, but I thought it was rude. I was just stating my opinion, not trying to piss anyone off

  • @QuileuteCowgirl ignore that user. he/she basically goes to every DC video and attacks anyone who supports them. It's kinda sad....I mean can't we just enjoy their music? lol

  • @JoMartinezMusic You really need to meander through some of the other videos and get a clue what is "talent" and what is not. You're best bet is to get into the audience and enjoy those that can rather than to muck up bandwidth and swell the video count on youtube with your personal fails.

  • @Therealmensa Wow, you're quick.....and yes, you made it clear that you don't like my singing (like the 52 dislikes weren't enough). Did I say I'm the best singer ever? No Have I said i'm an aspiring singer? YES. I'm not a professional singer, i'm learning, and that's something YOU can't stop...your dislikes, your "attacks", they only make me more eager to be better so that one day, when I'm on the big stage singing, I can rub it in the faces of haters like you.

  • @JoMartinezMusic A clue: You aren't getting better, just prolific. Anyone who lets you on the stage would simply be doing the audience a disservice. You won't be rubbing anything in the face of the haters, you'll be trying to sing over the laughter and the boos. I'm sure you'll continue trying, and while you do, someone else will have to pony up for your existence. Eventually, you'll lose that support and the fry machine will be waiting.

  • @Therealmensa ...keep dreamin'

  • @JoMartinezMusic I'm not the dreamer here. I can do better, and while not famous, I can say I opened for THE DOORS in 1969. People with much more talent than you never made the big time. I was lucky as well as talented, but not enough to be the big ticket. And we didn't have autotune to keep us on key. Something you apparently lean on. I DO hope you didn't bother with a traditional music education. I'd hate to think you might eventually "teach" new musicians using your "talent".

  • @Therealmensa As someone who I assume was in the same spot as I am, you wanting to be a singer/musician and opening for a great band in 1969, the reasonable thing to do is, I don't know, give young aspiring singers advice on how to be better, instead of wanting to take them down because they don't share the same view as you. and please, I'm 16 years old, probably 4 or 5 times your age, do me a favor, don't ever tell me to quit my dream again, cause I won't.

  • @JoMartinezMusic I'm not "taking you down because they don't share the same view". I'm telling you that your youth and good looks might get you some attention for your less than mediocre singing now, that will pass soon. 8 or 80, you should be facing the reality. You're voice is bland, weak, and frequently off-key. A dairy cow that doesn't give much milk is usually eaten, because that is the only other role it can play. You have more choices. You've chosen badly.

  • @JoMartinezMusic

When arguing you are NOT a special ed student, you should probably check your math.

On your music... I didnt like it. But it was mostly because I couldnt hear YOU... Too many special effects and filters. If you want to PROVE you have a good voice, record something a cappella. Nothing to hide behind. No enhancements. Just you.

Do that and drop me a line. I will give you another listen.

  • @Leonid3s Ok, i'll do an acapella

  • @JoMartinezMusic

Cool. Look forward to listening to it.

  • @QuileuteCowgirl Everyone gets their "opinion". Baseless opinions, or opinions based on lies, don't hold a candle to opinions that are fact based. Unfortunately, most liberals take the approach that all opinions are equally valid. The DC's were disingenuous in practically every aspect of their public lives starting in 2003. A willful suspension of disbelief as required to "get into a movie" has to be engaged to believe anything the DC's said or did was sincere. They are gone and for good reasons.

  • ANYONE WHO DOESN'T LIKE PRESIDENT OBAMA CAN SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT TO SAY ABOUT HIM AND NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING BUT THE DIXIE CHICKS SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THAT STUPID JERK GEORGE W. BUSH AND ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE SUDDENLY THEIR BAD PEOPLE. THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG THEY WERE COMPLETELY RIGHT AND PEOPLE SHOULD NOT TELL THEM TO APOLOGIZE BECAUSE THEY SPOKE THEIR OPINION SO WHAT IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE WHAT THEY SAID THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEIR MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Jbirdrules3818 LOUD NOISES.

  • @Jbirdrules3818

"So what if you didnt like what they said?"

Well, some people dont continue to give money to people with public stances radically different from their own.

    They have that right.

BTW, people saying they disagree with Obama have been called everything from racists to nazis. Death threats have also been tossed about on more than one occassion.

If Nat's fans were all Bush-Bashers, like you, she wouldnt have lost any fans.

  • @Jbirdrules3818 They did plenty "wrong". How can an opinion be "right"? It wasn't even a true sentiment, and Natalie Maines said so herself. No one told them to apologize. Plenty of people, however, used their freedom of speech to call their radio stations and slammed their wallets shut. No hell broke loose, an unpopular group of entertainers simply disappeared from radio, much like Nirvana and thousands of others did. You wouldn't be Natalie herself, would you? LOL. Epic Fail.

  • @Jbirdrules3818 him, and no one*

    They're*

    *insert punctuation here**

  • Comment removed

  • @darkfire2you They didn't "speak what they believed in". Who says? Natalie Maines herself. And your run-on sentences don't help your cause, btw.

  • @Therealmensa They did stand up for what they believed in. In England, they announced to there audience that they agree that the war shouldn't keep going on. The government, and the rest of America got pissed, causing death threats, This song is talking about how they have coped with it, and what everyone has been saying, getting death threats, and people saying "just shutup and sing." This song is also explaining how they stood up for what they believe in, and they dont regret it.

  • @gizzy238 They were pandering. Who says? Natalie Maines did and repeatedly. They never announced they didn't agree with the war. You showed up late with some deluded idea of what happened. They didn't get death threatSSS. They got one LAME threat letter that was never connected to anyone except a friendly radio station and the DC PR people themselves. This song is nothing more than a whine because they lost their fan base for being disingenuous, pandering bitches.

  • I love this song <3 It's sad how these women were desecrated by the country for simply speaking their mind, but unfortunately, that's the America we now live in :/

  • Free Speech: She said and did whatever she wanted every day of her life. The fact that she ceased to be an entertainer for millions was no infringement on her free speech. She doesn't have an inalienable right to be heard if people don't want to listen. This was turned into a free speech issue only by the DC's themselves, as they could never defend the flippant offhand comment she made on a subject millions were having to take deadly serious. She's gone for good reasons.

  • Love their music....but....shut up and sing....

  • Natalie looks so much like Busy Philips!

  • Where are they now? Her big mouth worked out well for them, right?

  • Love their music, but not Natalie's politics! Shut the F UP!!!!

  • This is THE anti redneck song. Fuck George W. Bush!

  • Forgive? Sounds goods. Forget? I'm not sure I could.

  • they inspire me

  • @ronnie2656 If you're looking for someone to mentor you in bashing others and crying victim at the same time, then you've come to the right people. If you want to hone your skills at making pandering, disingenuous comments on subjects others have to take seriously, then you're spot on here. If you are just looking for guidance on how to end your career, Professor Maines can help.Or, if you just want to bash others vicariously through them, then welcome to the Dixie Twits world.

  • i still love you girls :) love this song....

  • i needed to weep hearing this song, omg <3

  • I have SO much respect for them :)

  • You people are completely missing the reality of the situation.

EVERYONE has people that dont like them. That doesnt matter, as long as enough people like you. As an entertainer, that means ENOUGH to BUY your records and sell out your concerts.

The problem is not the people that dislike the DC (or their politics). The problem IS those people that claim to support the DC (or their politics) are NOT spending their money on the DC. (or not enough)

YOU are the problem. Not the haters.

  • I think what Natalie said was blown way out of proportion. It was unnecessary and the music world pretty much lost a huge talent because of it.

  • there songs are very good

what they said was true about president bush and it's good that they didn't apologize to anyone.

i want them to return back on stage

  • @darkfire2you

"What they said was true about president bush"???

What did they say about him?

"We are ashamed the president is from Texas."

    How could that be wrong?

Here is one for you. I am ashamed Obama was elected president by the majority of voters in 2008.

That is every bit as true as what Nat said about Bush. Likewise, I dont apologize for believing it.

Nat DID PUBLICLY APOLOGIZE for publicly disrepecting Bush.

So, how much MONEY have YOU spent on the DCs in the last year?

  • I listen to this song everyday=] it is in my playlist and I never get tired of it... it is a DAMN GOOD song=] scratch that it is one of the BEST SONG'S EVER=] they are so amazing they should have more respect...

  • @onebshiery

Wonderful! I am glad you have a song you like so much!

Now, how much money per year do you spend supporting the Dixie Chicks?

How many CDs do you buy?

How many concert tickets do you purchase?

How much do you spend on DC merchandise?

Multiply that by everyone else that does more than just says they support the DC and you will see why Taylor Swift is the new country music female role model for young women.

  • I'd love a makeup tutorial for her makeup in this video. It's so ... ahh I just love it c:

  • I loved the fact that radio wouldn't play any of their songs and they still won the Grammy for Album of the Year. That shows that the critics know what good music sounds like. This song is just a big FU to radio.

  • @1976cannon Factoid for retards: Practically all loss in play in 2003 on C&W stations were made up for by play in other genres, right through 2006. Natalie Maines went to California and spoke on a rock station saying they were the only station playing them. The C&W station in the same market had never taken DC's out of rotation, but was ignored on that trip. Just one more disingenuous move by the DC's.

  • @1976cannon "critics". I guess you mean the voters for grammys, which are made up of entertainers, producers, and supporting casts such as engineers. They have minimum requirements for being involved in produced music. A person describing himself as a music "critic" as his qualification could not become a member of the grammy voters. And just like Maines is no political pundit, most singers aren't qualified to judge themselves or others. Popularity IS a maeasure. DC popularity? Meager at best.

  • @Therealmensa

DC Popularity? I like the yardstick you used recently. Video Views.

Using only VEVO vids for comparison:

This DC vid has been up for 2.3 years and has 3.2M views.

The Band Perry, You Lie, 1 year, 8M views.

Taylor Swift, Safe and Sound, 1 WEEK, 2M views.

Taylor Swift, Our Song, 2.7 years, 55.1M views.

Selena Gomez, Naturally, 2.2 years, 149.4M views.

Pistol Annies, Hell on Heels, 7 MONTHS, 2,7M views.

The record companies MOSTLY care about money. Politics be damned.

  • @continued

    As for "the feuds".

Toby Keith has been touring constantly since Nat's public melt down.

Reba McEntire is touring through 2012.

Dixie Chicks attempted a summer tour as an opening band for the Eagles in 2010. They scheduled 8 venues and had to cancel 2 for lack of sales.

If the people that claim they "support" the DC actually bought tickets and CDs, the DC would be fine.

Toby Keith and Reba are the two the DC didnt want to be in the same CD player with.

    They got their wish.

  • do u know wat i dont get how this vid has dislikes i mean if u dont like it y r u listing 2 it HATERS but i luv this song and so do alot of other people thumbs up 4 positive comments!!!!

  • @johnssierra89

You know what I dont get? How you ever expect to get a decent job with such poor communication skills.

BTW, the word is "listening" not "listing".

You are indeed a shining example of public school education.

  • absolutely love how they speak their mind and stick up for what they believe in no matter how much they get in trouble and looked down upon for it

  • @jackiepalmmm Weren't "speaking their minds" and weren't "sticking up for what they believe". They got tossed for being disingenuous afterward as they were for their pandering for profit comment. Seriously, douche, get an education.

  • @Leonid3s I wasn't trying to say she was denied her right to free speech or that the fans were denied their rights either and no it's not just the famous who have the right to free speech. I just think that it is wrong to take one comment and turn into something that has damaged their career. How many celebrities have we forgiven for everything from selling drugs, using drugs, weapons charges and even domestic assault. For once in our lives we really need to be open minded.

  • @azrielcat88

It was not just one comment. But the one comment was enough to seriously damage her career. If that were it... IF she had listened to her PR people... IF she had gone into damage control mode and quit publicly throwing more fuel on the fire...

But that is not the case. She kept it going, after making a huge mistake.

I can only assume, with all the "we support you Nat, we hate Bush too" people, that she thought she could cross genre and leave country music.

  • Wait why did the originally write this song?

  • Forgive sounds good...

  • @leolionsummer Forget, I'm not sure I could...

  • @blackbirdfly518 Don't worry, Natalie. We're doing a fine job of forgetting you. Your ponder about your pander and your pitiful loss in profits is perhaps a penalty you think was too punitive. Perhaps policing your pandering pucker would have been the proper position to assume.

  • @Therealmensa Nice job of wasting your time commenting on a video that you obviously don't like. If you don't like the music, don't listen to it. No one is forcing you to.

  • @blackbirdfly518 Who said I came here to listen? Nice job of wasting bandwidth on an idiot comment. If you can't post intelligently, don't post. No one is forcing you to.

  • @Therealmensa I did post intelligently. I stated my opinion. I bet you're having fun trolling around on videos you don't like. You obviously enjoy causing drama with strangers. You won't change anyone's opinion by posting on this video. I believe that is what you're trying to do, it won't work. The Dixie Chicks are fucking awesome.

  • @blackbirdfly518

I believe at least part of his point is trying to get people to recognize reality, such as Nat was never denied her Freedom of Speech.

If you read back through the comments, you will find a great number of comments either stating explicitly or implying that Nat was denied her Freedom of Speech.

And if having someone tell you the Truth about what Freedom of Speech is and is not does not "change anyone's opinion" when they clearly dont understand the concept...

    Well...

  • Great song writing regardless of your personal political leanings. It's important for people to voice their truthful opinion whatever they may be. No one should be in fear for their lifes because they speak their mind.

You are allowed to have a different opinion, but a persons right to free speech should be up held.

  • @mindinsolitude

As long as you include Freedom of Speech for the normal citizens and not just the famous people, then I agree with you 100%!

  • @Leonid3s Of course, everybody should have free speech, rich/poor black/white conservative/liberal famous or not. Although famous people (unfairly) have a greater platform to air their views, making fame a lot of responsiblity.

  • @mindinsolitude And what does this have to do with the Dixie Chicks? They said whatever they wanted every day. No one infringed on their right to do so. They have no inalienable right to popularity or profit. They have no right to be disingenuous and pandering, then say they were "victims" because millions disagreed with their use of free speech for profit, especially the way they did. Our 1st amendment says the GOVERNMENT won't punish. It doesn't say the public has to put up with mouthy singers

  • @Therealmensa No body should punish Free speech, That means Governments and individuals. I never said everybody has to put up with mouthy singers. IF your at their concert your allowed to leave, if they're on the TV you can change the channel. If their opinions bother you, you also have free speech and can exercise it against them. When people do this it creates healthy balanced arguements.

People made threats to their lives and burned their CD's, thats punishing free speech.

  • @mindinsolitude

Threatening to harm someone is not protected speech. There are Laws already to deal with those people.

However, if you are burning your own property, that is your Right to dispose of your property as you wish. Doing so publicly, as part of a demonstration, is also protected speech.

As long as people are allowed to burn the US flag as protected speech, I wont blink twice at someone burning CDs or driving a tractor over them.

Nat got her say, then her fans responded

  • @mindinsolitude If you are at their concert, you've already given them money. Contrary to every other entertainer at the time, the DC's REFUSED to refund unwanted tickets after her comment 2003

  • @mindinsolitude Exercise it against them? Millions did. Threat letter: connected ONLY to a friendly radio station and the DC PR people themselves. No one else. Burning CD's punish free speech? ROFL!

  • @mindinsolitude You seriously need to get an education on the rights afforded US citizens while IN the USA by our Constitution. You obviously know nothing of it.

  • America is a liitle backwards

  • Dixie Chicks restored my respect for Texans. Looks like they aren't all morons like Bush and Perry.
