The 552 along with the G36 are weapons I would give my right nut to own. Both of those weapons are some of the best assault rifles to date.

Kinda puts me in the mind of the H&K UMP45. The butt-stock and design are the things that popped out to me. It only seems to have a 20rd clip cap however.

yeah thats true! it's one of the most accurate assault rifle: i'm shooting the sig550 rifle in switzerland and i never had problems with it! Over 35'000 people are shooting with the sig 550 PE (personal edition), it's only semi-automatic, in normal sport shooting! no jamming i really recommend this rifle for sport shooting or just for having fun to shoot!

the cool thing about the sig, is it has the best parts of the m16 family, and the best of the ak family. that is, the lower receiver of the m16, the upper receiver of the ak. this gun is not only reliable, it is very accurate, too. best assault rifle out there in my opinion.

As you can see the SIG552 with silencer has an additional "commando"-feature. It automatically applies night time dark grey camo paint on you face ;) Using silencer thows all snot into shooters face. Sig552 is "hella laud!" (much lauder than AR) but using silencer kind of defeats the whole point of SIG55x = reliability = gas piston that prevents smoke from fouling the bolt.

"I have this airsoft gun too", except mine uses 5.56N FMJ "pellets" and is powered by gunpowder.

where does this "dark Grey camo paint" come from? the receiver and whatnot is sealed up pretty well. or am i misunderstanding you? i think your talking about the semi-burnt gunpowder that sometimes leaks from gaps in the receiver, barrel, and threads of a suppressor.

Hey man, nothing wrong with airsoft. Since you can't own an Sg552 in the states, airsoft is as close as some people will get to touching the superior Swiss goodness that are Sig's. Besides, most airsoft fans I know, including myself own PLENTY of real firearms. We aren't all the recoil-fearing, incompetent kids and losers you think we are.

I have a question: is it true that some SEALS teams and some other US special forces use (sometime) the SG 552? If they do, well, good choice! I've never seen an 55x series rifle jamming and they're accurate

most contractors carry whatever they want, and elite SF (e.g., delta force) carry what they want also, for example one of the "blackhawk down" guys carried a m14. i think the SEALs have pretty much standard equipment, though.

Any operator working thru socom can use any of the approved weapons, I'd have to ask my buddy but i would imagine that a rifle of that quality is on the list, and don't take a movie into account.

@hcbstrd NEGATIVE! None of the SEALS or U.S. Spec-ops type units use the 552. That was originally started by Tokyo Mauri on their box for marketing their airsoft version of the gun. The SEALS still use a Colt M4 and the only other SOCOM weapon being used is the HK-416 by Delta. If you can find a pic of SOCOM troopers ever using them, I'll give you a cookie.

It says right in the description that he's using supersonic rounds. It doesn't sound like subs anyway. you can still hear a crack. It's so quiet because I think he also said that he was using it wet.

BTW, 5.56's aren't low velocity rounds either. They travel at about 3600fps....or in and around that area, I forget, and I don't have a box around at the moment. ;)

I do know that the sound barrier is 1116fps, so you do the math.

It all depends on the weight of the bullet and the barrel length. A 55gr bullet coming out of a 20inch barrel generally is around 3100-3300 fps depending on the powder you are using to push it out. The M4 style weapons have 14.5" barrels and use heavier bullets, so they are significantly slower, though I couldnt give you the exact fps on those.

Not 100% sure but sounds like they're using low velocity round. Takes away the sonic bang from when the round breaks the soundbarrier. But as I said, not sure.

nope. if you listen closely you can hear the hiss of the bullet breaking the sound barrier. besides, low velocity ammunition wouldn't cycle the action. another benefit of a suppressor is it cuts out some of the recoil.
