Same here. I am running somewhere between 600-800 watts and every dst i have had has died in a few minutes or seconds. All the ac flybacks have died in something like 3 seconds... Even my biggest one. But man, homemade ac flyback are the way to go. With one that took me maybe 30 minutes to make i can get about 6-10 kv, and very good current. It cost me nothing(well, except for the highlighter i used for a bobbin) and was made from scavenged parts. It has breakout even when many feet from ground.

at the moment i´m running them with only 35VDC so they don´t die after some arcing

actually i want to build a selfwount transformer with a >1kW core, but i don´t have the money to buy one -.-
