  • Okay, it looks to me like you're doing a great job with the physics and graphics, and the rest of the skinning / animating will come soon enough, but... you HAVE to do something about the camera, it's sickeningly dizzying right now.

  • im experimenting in blender 2 years (im started when i was 14) an i still cant do shit. maybe my python knowledge is not enough, but programing is hard (i think). i wanna use irrlicht engine, but thats need c++.

  • no, actually not. maybe it looks like because the light is directly over the starting position so if you slightly move the shadow moves as well.

  • thanks, the library is shipped with loads of examples and a nice documentation.

  • Ogre uses .mesh files for the models and .material files to texturize them. There is a bunch of exporters for the common modeling tools on their page.

  • Like this is cool, i want to learn blender too, however i get very bad at modeling a person, not to mention that i cant make those rooms with straight walls. like maybe i will make a project too.

  • So much time was put into the water, but his hair still looks like it's gelled up with super glue.

  • that's because it is. His beauty secrets are a secret sub-plot.

    But seriously, changing the shape of his hair depending on how wet it is and then allowing it to dry would be a very complicated process. The only reason The hair is noticed in Uncharted is because the water looks so real and even his clothes get wet. most games don't have that. I've never seen real time hair drying. maybe uncharted 2

  • no, there are tutorials for every part of the game i integrated and where there are not you can make it yourself by using some brainpowers. i worked half a year on this project and putting it all together to one tutorial is just not possible.

  • i took it from the ogre demos i believe you think i am using the blender engine, which is not the case.

  • It's not made with the Blender game engine; it uses OGRE for rendering, ODE for physics, et cetera (check the description).

  • no this has nothing to do with any blender thing out there, its just a stupid name ;) i use ogre and some other libraries listed on the right. and actually i write tutorials from time to time

    how'd you get REAL water to run this fast? i saw you were using BGE w/ OGRE, so is there some kind of plug in you used, is it ogre, + blender models? I'm blown away :D i'm assuming the animations will be cleaner and such. wow! great!

  • thanks! no this is not morph. the water unfortunately eats up the performance very fast, this is the maximum my comp can handle. the visual part of the water was taken from a demo that comes with ogre. i programmed the physical part myself (still need for adjusting). there is no plug in, i coded this all (except for the things that are provided within the libraries, which is actually very much ;)

  • blender the modeling tool was in no way involved. the models are either taken from the ogre sdk or from my artist. i should change the wip title some day as its confusing most ppl

  • looks good but your character mabey is a bit to strong.. lol nice place anyway... i may build a SDK map of that :D

  • yes i agree but as the lead developer i'm more into implementing more features. adjusting parameters, settings, etc. is more likely to be work for some intern later ;)

  • I think you should make the camera sorat like a 3rd person fps sorta style where the camera is over your back... and i wanna see this when its further on =)

  • as i said before there is no date yet. there is really lots of work to do, we havn't finished a half yet and unfortunately i dont have much time to concentrate on this project (in fact i wont work on it for the next 4 months at least)

  • hard to say, the game is really in an early alpha stage, i have soo many other things to do and i write the code completely alone... you surely will need a good machine. from time to time it lags on my amd x2 4600+ with geforce 8600. but of course i will implement options for lower details.

  • Did you right the script for the camera?

  • what do you mean? the camera movement is not scripted, neither is the scene. its all directly played. the camera uses rays to detect collisions with the map.

  • there is nothing to be said beyond the fact that i use rays for the camera collision. if you don't know what rays are go and find out, the net is full of tutorials.

  • also auf die ladezeiten habe ich keinen einfluss, bei mir gehts super. wir wollen erstmal nur soviel zeigen, wie nötig ist, um mitarbeiter zu finden, der rest bleibt hinter schloss und riegel.
