  • i thought this was the movie of a game :(

    still good film:)

  • next time don't take the name of a show that is already around :D

  • We haven't

  • actually there is already a show named portal :/

  • Not that I know of. I just looked it up and the only recent show was 2002...

  • @Rivingtonfilm They're talking about the tv show that used to air on G4TV. It was a show called "Portal" and it has a huge cult following so this is why you're getting some heat. Obviously this video comes up as a result when they're looking for G4's tv show.

  • What's programm did you use, when you created this video??? =) Looks great!

  • Editing - Sony Vegas 7

VFX - After Effects Pro 7.5 & Visionlab

  • I'd be interested in doing a joint project with you guys. I've got loads of ideas. I've been working with The Animation Empire and I reckon we could work on something. Check my stuff out and let me know if you'd be interested.

    Gnamp

  • NIcely done. I like your title the most.

All I'd say was the audio was inconstant. Other then that, it was great.

  • Thanks. We know the audio is bad, done the best we could. You will see it improve in Season 2

  • I feel like such a "tard" commenting on this now because all the professionals below have commented lmao.

Ah well this is from a fans point of view ;)

I loved it! And the choice of music was immense!

    XD

  • Thanks, and we make it for the fans too,

  • Hey, Gongrats on finishing it.

Like everyone else mentioned, the audio was the weakest part. You got to make sure that the loudness is constant. The songs were great tho.

The scene I liked most was the one where both of you are sitting on grassfield and talking. The eiditing/camera angles and acting was the best there. Overall you guys look cool together. I could imagine both of you acting in some feature film when you guys grow up.

Keep up the good work. Later.

    Lookfilms ltd.

  • Thanks alot, I really appreciate it.

  • The acting is a little wooden sometimes but not bad for an amature film. The effects are fine, great even, and they work well with the film. The video is slightly fuzzy but I hold that down to Youtube which tends to crush the quality.

Apologies if my criticism seems insulting, I just wanted to provide feedback on what i thought about the film the parts I felt needed improving.

  • It's great, we appreciate your interest. The DVD version of Portal isn't fuzzy and thanks again.

  • The advertising: It's a new and an interesting idea, as though we are watching a show on real TV. Generally though I don't like it - it distracts from watching the show itself and is inconvenient for a Youtube video. If your looking to advertise in a show at least provide a 3-5 second screen between the show and adverts like real TV channels do. A screen with your logo on and a box containing the explosion effect with the title "Portal" would be more than sufficient, and actually look good.

  • Okay thanks, and there is no adverts on the DVD.

  • Oh it's not their inclusion which concerns me, I actually think its a pretty unique and interesting idea. I do feel it would be a good idea making it clearer what parts are the film and what is advertisement though, that's why I suggested the idea of a screen between the two.

  • I will do in future :D

  • OK constructive criticism: The speech is FAR to quiet and the music is FAR to loud - you definitely need to balance those two things out better. Lets hear every word the characters say at a comfortable level and not have music suddenly come in and blast our ears off by being much louder than everything else. Fade it in if you must and alter the volume level of the music so it adds nice backing ambiance rather than feeling pasted over the film for the sake of it.

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • Awesome.. I went whoa WTF when Breakout trailer came on haha. Excellent job on the first part, cannot wait to see the 2nd part of Portal.

  • Thanks, there will be three thanks to Youtube.

  • Very solid, entertaining beginning! I think your cinematography is very inventive and you've definitely put some thought in to the placement of the camera. The only problem I noticed was the sound - I found it a bit difficult to hear in some places, most notably the beach scene. I think the acting is fine!

I like your VFX; especially the smoke on the beach; I think it blends in well with the environment.

Very solid start, I'm really looking forward to part two! I gave it five stars.

  • Thanks alot. And we know about the sound, we are going to try and improve it in the future.

  • Thanks the other two parts will be on soon, Youtube is taking its time.

  • Cool, how much is the dvd?

  • It will be £10, with case, 2 disks, without adverts and has extras including a day in the life with Sam Mills (Alex) and interviews.
