I knew Danny as a brand new manifestor, having never had any experience with the skydiving world. He rubbed me the wrong way at first but I soon found that he was fearless, just, and a true friend. Those who didn't get to know Danny I consider unlucky. Blue skies for eternity my friend.
I just found out today (4-25-11) that Danny had passed, and I was sad. How do I know Danny you may ask? I met Danny when I was a budding skydiver in 1988 at Raeford DZ when Gene Thacker and my best friend Chuck Blue pointed at this guy in an ugly pink and camo jump suit and said go jump with that guy till you get your A license.
Danny taught me the technical aspects of skydiving in a way no one else could, when he saw me eying a camera helmet one day he and Chuck went out of their way to help me learn. Danny made the 4 way video guy for his new 4 way Carolina Counsil team made up of Mark Lancaster, Mark ?????, and Pete Cook.
Danny was instrumental in giving me the learning experience for video that other teams would not give me because I only had 125 jumps and 25 doing video.
He would not chew my ass when I funneled through the 4 way, but he would take great pleasure in making fun of me and reenacting my mistake along with sound effects much to my dismay.
Danny got me on staff at Chester DZ making money packing Tandems and shooting all his tandem video, Danny remembered what it was like to be a young starving poor ass military skydiver.
I spoke with Danny occaisionally over the years usually when Chuck ran into him in a bar drunk I thought of him though every time I watched one my old tandem videos of him.
Though he was cocky, and he attempted unsuccefully to hit on the girl I was stalking that day he was truly a great guy if he was your friend you were lucky.
He was there when a family member of mine passed giving me money to get home paying for my skydives when I was broke and the tandems were slow. He was there with encouragement when I truly needed it I just wish I could have been there for his family when he passed, and shared my memories, and videos of him. RIP Danny "Dannilo" Page" and BTW No farting in the plane on the way to heaven
Even though you sent me out to order and bring back 120 cheeseburgers for a skydiving event (they looked at me like I was crazy), even though you hit on my girlfriends and told my new wife (and still my current wife) to come visit you in Fayetteville when she got tired of me, I wish you were here, to reconnect and to get to know each other again now that we are "real" adults and not maniacs we were back in our AF days.
I tried to reconnect with you over the years since I last saw you, around 1986 but I could not find you. I should have tried harder it seems and now that chance is gone.
At first I thought, well, that can't be, Danny is way too young and the earth is still spinning, since I think thats what it would take to overcome the character. Personality and spark of life that you had inside you from my experience in knowing you. Then I saw the comments about combat controllers and all the posts about sky diving and my heart became very heavy since I knew that it was in fact you that people were describing.
Well Danny, I am at a loss for words. I was reconnecting with a lot of friends from my military days and I just couldn't understand why I could not seem to find you anywhere. Someone as connected as you, engaging, and someone who always seemed to thrive in groups is surely out there on the web. Then I plugged your name in one more time into GOOGLE and came across a link to a memorial page for a "Danny Page".
Hi Danny, Four years gone now. I haven't been able to watch this video in that time. I can watch it now and not feel like your little sister. Or you were my only true parent. I am drinking a Miller Lite Danny. I remember when we lived in Spokane Washington when mom was working you cooked all the time. Every kind of egg dish! lol & BACON & MAYO sandwiches! You can take to kid out of the trailer park but not the trailer park out of the kid. I miss you sometimes Danny. Hugs your sister Trish Page.
Only man I ever loved! Friendship that lasted 20 years! Brutally honest 100% of the time! A truly wonderful guy that is missed terribly-only to hear your voice on the other end of whatever phone you could get to, one more time! RIP
I bought a book to listen to the other day, because it made me think of Danny, I didn't know him in that well, last time I saw him I was probably 14, at a pool party at our cousin's house. I still miss him occasionally and this video makes me wish I had known him better through out life.
Was reading U.S. Special Operations Forces today and came across the AF Combat Controllers. At first I was sad and then I smiled. I only knew Danny a short time, about 5 years. Yet we had some good times. I can still see that smile. I think that you made a mark on everyone you came in contact with. Love you man
Another Danny story? How about the time you called me wanting to ask my permission to take my sister on a date? I can't wait to kick your ass again danny like I did that night at SDA! It's on brother. I miss you.
Danny your an ass hole. Brother I watch this video every so often and still cant believe your gone.. I hope to one day show my girls why we do what we do. BSBD
Danny was and always will be a great friend. Did my 1st tandem w/Danny while i was assigned to the 1721st CCS from 88-92. Alot of awesome memories with Danny. Whether it was working a mission, or drinking way to many Miller Lites and kicking the hackey sack around. Ill never forget our dive trip to Wrightsville Beach. We had some kick ass volleyball games - Doc Savage, Steve Doubt, Dubuque, Rankin, Ayers, and etc. Great memories man, I miss you and your ever present shit eating grin !!
I'm glad that day many many years ago in high school you and my mom had a class together and you kept "bothering" her. Otherwise i wouldn't have known you today. You are our hero and it makes me so sad to realize not only did we lose a family member but my mom also lost her best friend. LYMYMI!!
i found this video shortly after discovering danny in one of my vidoes from thomaston where danny cut me off trying to make a BFR! he is and will always be missed! RIP DANNY BLUE SKIES!
My name is Terry Smith of DeLand FL, what can I say about Danny other then I will miss him and he is a great American. In 1993 I wanted to go to college and kept telling him what I wanted to do. He said ether do it or stop talking about it. Well I did it and it was because of you my friend. Thank You Danny
Thanks a million to whoever posted this. Danny was one of my best friends in the world and my brother just discovered this tribute to a truly beautiful man. I miss you, brother. todd.
Wow!!!! I just found out this past Monday and i am crushed. I knew Danny for Almost 17 years and shared some great times! I am An Original "Catalyst" from back when he lived in Charlotte. He taught me many things and i am a better person because of the experiences that i had with him.

This video sounds and sights bring back so many good memories, I met Danny when he was at Pope in the School House for CCT, His laugh and smile was contagious..... He always told me to stay away from TT and I should have listened to him.. HA HA! I will remember Danny always as the man who set his mind on something and did it..... Danny died doing what he loved.... I know he is smiling down today at all of us with his laugh that only he could ever have.
I got the chance to know Danny when he was here in Atlanta in law school. He is a great american. Never had a bad word to say and always smiling. Danny loved this country. We loved him. Rest in peace brother! You will be missed. Thank you to all of you who are risking your lives for the freedom of people you've never even met. Your Friend, Rhodes

Danny Page was a kick ass guy. He was that bad but very necessary influence in not only mine, but many young men's lives. Wish I could have spent more time in the air, at the DZ and in life with the old goat. "Who's your Danny?"
Blue skies forever. Love you Danny! Keep flyin free Brother. I got drunk and did the karoke thing again this weekend ;D--hope u were watching. Hard knowing you aren't comming back, but there is peace knowing that you never left.

I approached Danny and in the first 30 seconds of talking to him I said to myself I am gonna whip this guys smart ass some day.
Danny later told me he saw a skinny young wanna be sky god with a lot of promise at which point I told him I was still gonna whip his ass one day.
