Prophecy seemed silly to me when America was strong but now that it is weak and beaten, woah, things can really change, time to get ready!

Well..that song is one view. The other is that is you are not the sum total of your trespasses and they do not warrant an eternal retaliation upon your soul. Just a genuine apology and reparations. An eternal beating would come across as "bent". If this what God and Jesus are about I will challenge them forever..or at least take them to court for child abuse.

It's as much a protest song as it is gospel tune.

Larry Normn was a wonderful human being. He was an intelligent, humurous wordsmith and musician who could paint a wonderful picture with words. He was neither wishy-washy or a fundamentalist, but a man of moderation, humor and conviction who knew the IMPORTANT message of Christ......to love the lord with all your heart, and your fellow man as yourself.

Wow! This version of this song . . . off the actual album "Upon This Rock" is the first I had heard while serving on the mission field in Denmark back in 1991 . . . I instantly fell in love with this album . . . and it further opened the doors to a world of other 70s Christian music that I still love to this day! I remember traveling through the mid-west in the summer of 1990 and I came across this song in a hymnal!! Didn't know the song at that time . . . crazy!

I agree "plusdienst", this is one of Larry Norman's most touching songs. One day we will all get a chance to sing with men like Larry Norman and Keith Green praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. the rapture is an invention of the 1830's. google it's origins, it came about in the 1830's and got legs with the publishing of the scofield ref. bible. you will see the names nelson and darby primarily. it was non-existant before them.

It is true the word "Rapture" does not appear in the text, but Paul had to write to the Corinthians because they were fearful that Christ had already come back and they had been left behind. The Rapture is not a new belief as many claim it to be, but was actually believed by the Early Church.
