He hadn't signed the contract for the top 12 and that is the only reason he was able to. they replaced him with nikko smith and mentioned that he left during the top 12 show. It has always been debated whether he left because of the contract or a record deal offer, or if he was asked to resign from the show.

i think he would have been in the finale if he remained in the competition.
