I think that all 3 ,Cohen, Cocker & Warnes did an excellant job on this song. I listen to each version often and depending on my mood, is who I choose.

Having covered Jennifer Warnes version of this song many times I think the Famous Blues Raincoat version has two contridictions: 1. beautiful voice in singing what could be seen as a protest song almost terrorist theme, and 2. the Germanic intro (no disrespect to the German peoples). Our female vocalist did a great job of this as did our guitarists.
